He then called the two men, but no one answered as well.

He realized that something might have happened on Fiona’s side.

Seeing that none of the three could keep an eye on a woman, he was furious and contacted the person in charge of shipping containers.

“Submerge Box 16-32 for half an hour!”

There was a wide river beside where the shipping container

was.

Although the shipping container was well sealed, it was not completely watertight.

In less than half an hour, ten minutes at most, the river would be able to drown everything.

Moreover, the shipping container was locked from the outside. Even if Fiona could fight, she couldn’t escape.

The shipping container belonged to Jason, and he could do whatever he wanted. The person in charge had money to collect anyway, so he agreed.

Based on the IP address provided by Christopher and after checking three buildings, Cecilia had determined exactly which building the mastermind was in.

Only two retired professors lived in that building, and the rest were rented out to students.

Although it was summer vacation, couples usually went home a few days later, so there were several students living in that building.

Cecilia contacted them one by one.

There were two couples in the city and four in the building.

The students were timid and a little panicky. When they went downstairs, they couldn’t help but make noise.

One couple happened to live right across Jason’s room.

They panicked and slammed the door loudly.

Jason was in the living room, listening clearly and frowning unhappily.

Having failed to capture Yvette, he was already seething with anger. Any further provocation stirred within him a murderous intent.

When he looked downstairs, he found that there were many people rushing out of two buildings.

His furtive glances to the left and right were reminiscent of a thief or someone trying to evade detection.

Jason was on the alert at once.

He picked up the telescope on the coffee table and looked around. Sure enough, he found something strange.

The originally lively commercial street was now desolate. The students who left went to the same place.

He suspected that he had been exposed, so he packed up and left immediately.

At this time, Cecilia received the news that all retired professors and students had been evacuated.

She took the walkie–talkie and said to the chief investigator, “Let’s move!”

The danger had been reduced to a minimum, and it was the best time to make a move.

The arrest plan was perfect. There would be no escape for the mastermind. It was either they arrested him or found his body. The criminal investigation division of the city’s police headquarters, with Quilton’s finest officers, operated with speed and precision.

The policemen hiding near the residential area immediately rushed in and headed for the building where the mastermind was located.

Jason had just reached the first floor when he ran into a group of people.

It was not the police, but the people Evan had arranged to be by Cecilia’s side to protect her.

They had lived in the residential area for the convenience of protecting Cecilia.

Later, when Cecilia went to Emerald Mansion and had no use for them, they still lived in the residential area.

They wanted to leave with Cecilia when she left Quilton.

And they happened to be an important part of the arrest plan. They were the vanguard.

When Jason saw the crowd rushing toward him, his pupils constricted, and he ran upstairs quickly.

The elevator was unsafe and easy for humans to control, so he took the stairs.

He knew full well that it was futile, but he thought if he could hold off for a while, perhaps there would be a miracle.

Soon, he was stuck on the rooftop.

The building was not very tall. There were only nine floors. However, he would certainly die if he fell.

Jason stood on the rooftop and guessed their identities by looking at their measured steps and strong, murderous intent.

“You’re from the Peacekeeping Forces!”

He spoke affirmatively, but no one paid attention to his words. “Will you die, or will you surrender?”

Jason smiled evilly and said, “I won’t choose any of your options!”

Then he took out a small remote control from his pocket. “I’ve placed high explosives in the room, and as soon as the detonator is triggered, the building will be reduced to rubble.”

He thought it was worth it to have so many people buried with him.

However, before he died, he wanted to see Cecilia.

His life was full of thorns, but Cecilia was the only one who forced him into this situation.

“If you don’t want to die, call Cecilia and ask her to see me!”

Evan’s men came to Quilton to protect Cecilia, so they wouldn’t put her in danger.

“Stop talking nonsense. If you want to die, do it quickly.”

Having been exposed to bullets and gunfire for so many years, they had long become indifferent to the concepts of life and death.

They wouldn’t even blink in the face of death.

Jason knew the Peacekeeping Forces didn’t care about their lives.

He said, “You’re not afraid of death, but Fiona is. Call Cecilia quickly. If she doesn’t come, I will send Fiona to hell first and then drag you all down together.”

They continued to disregard him, treating his words as if they were mere whispers in the wind.

Their mission was to protect Cecilia, whose safety would always come first.

Cecilia saw everything from the tiny cameras on them.

She called one of them and said, “I’ll be right there. Tell him not to touch Fiona.”

After saying that, she hung up the phone without giving them a chance to speak.

As it involved the lives of innocent people, Evan’s men didn’t know how to decide for a moment.

If they rushed forward to deal with the mastermind now, they would definitely be able to solve the problem before Cecilia arrived.
