- Season 2 Episode 36 - The Eccentric Little Cousin
My heart tightened a bit, somewhat surprised, I didn’t expect her to be called Raymon,
“But he might be late, he went to Saltdol City and is on his way back. We don’t have to wait for him deliberately, we can eat first!” She explained nonchalantly. “This was decided–later, he just happened to call me and asked what I wanted to eat. I told him about the dinner appointment with you, so I invited him as well. You don’t mind, do you?”
I quickly said, “I don’t mind!”
After saying that, I felt somewhat uneasy in my heart. Did I really not mind?
But could I say I minded to this little girl with a face full of sincerity and harmlessness?
“That’s good!” she said, passing the menu to me. “I’ve ordered mine. It’s our first time eating together, I don’t know what you like. Why don’t you choose?”
Her enthusiasm reminded people of four words: open–hearted and particularly approachable. This was somewhat inconsistent with the aloof and arrogant demeanor she had when I first met her. I clearly remember the moment she stood up that day, glancing at the other diners, her expression was vastly different from now, as if she were a completely different person.
I had ordered the dishes I wanted to cat, handed the menu back to the waiter, and turned to Sharon, “I’ve been busy lately and haven’t contacted you, I’m sorry!”
“Hey, don’t be so formal, I know you’re busy!” Her voice was pleasant, “I
admire you, for having your own company!”
I chuckled, thinking to myself, it’s a bit ironic that someone would admire a company that’s on the verge of collapse. But, I can’t blame them if they
don’t know
Just as our ordered dishes arrived, I looked at Sharon and asked, “Are we really not waiting for Mr. Baxter?”
“Assistant?” Sharon’s eyes widened for a moment, then she quickly concealed it, “Oh, … no need to wait!”
I felt as if I had said something wrong, “Did I… say something wrong?”
“No…no! We don’t have to wait for him, besides, you’re already hungry! He doesn’t even know when he’ll arrive, why should we wait for him! We should just eat, and wait while we eat!” She had a very mischievous look, like a spoiled princess, with a touch of playfulness, which was quite endearing.
Halfway through the meal, Raymon strode in from outside. As soon as he entered, he drew all the attention. I felt a bit nervous, but Sharon was very excited, constantly smiling as she watched him walk over, her eyes full of affection.
Raymon’s expression remained the same, calm and indifferent. He curled his lip at me, “Sorry, I’m late!”

Then, quite naturally, she sat down next to me. Sharon was still smiling as she said to Raymon, “Raymon! You’re too slow. If you were any later, we would have finished eating and left!”
“Traffic jam in the city!” He then took the menu from the waiter and ordered a few dishes, “Excuse me, I need to go wash my hands!”
He got up again and went to the bathroom.
I felt a cold gaze from afar constantly fixed on me, without looking I knew

it was Lelia, she wasn’t afraid of choking.
Sharon suddenly asked me, “Ms. Byrne, did you know my Raymon before?”
I glanced at her and said truthfully, “I don’t know her! I only got to know her after we collaborated!”
“Oh… no wonder!” She muttered under her breath. I always found this little cousin of mine to be quirky and somewhat inscrutable.
I was about to ask her why she said that, but saw Raymon had already strode back from the bathroom.
As he sat down, he glanced at me and asked nonchalantly, “Been on a business trip?”
I was a bit embarrassed, realizing he was referring to my appearance today, “Well, I just came from Lithelia, got off the bus and came straight here! I heard from Ms. Cook that you went to Saltdol City!”
Actually, I just casually asked, but Raymon immediately glanced at Sharon, there was an indescribable feeling in his eyes. I couldn’t help but glance at Sharon, but she just smiled very calmly.
Between these two people, there was always a subtle feeling that something was off, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
However, in our group of three, I was definitely the ‘outsider‘.
I took the opportunity to stand up and go to the bathroom. While washing my hands, I casually looked up at the mirror and got a shock. Lelia, like a ghost, was standing behind me, I had no idea when she had appeared.
