MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND - Season 2 Episode 57

It was a typical school day at L University.

The clock struck twelve, and the sun was shining high and bright in the sky.

As soon as the bell rang to signal the end of classes, students had soon flocked the hallways. Most of them went to the canteen.

Among the few who didn’t go to the canteen, Nina stood out clearly. Her features were beautiful and she always wore an indifferent expression as she gracefully walked forward.

Nina was actually wearing John’s clothes at the moment. The minor tweaks she made to them looked great on her appearance.

She wore John’s white shirt under a loose gray jacket. It was scrunched up and tied with a small rubber band which revealed her abdomen. Her perfect curves were very flattering, and the rugged look made her even more attractive.

Her black wavy hair was tied neatly behind her ears, revealing her delicate face. Her look was so simple yet beautiful.

She made everyone turn their head whenever she passed by, especially men. This made most of the women jealous of her.

“The campus belle’s so cool! It’s the first time I have seen her in that kind of style.”

“Nina must be wearing Mr. Shi’s clothes. She’s so gorgeous! The sight of her is killing me!”

“She would naturally be killing a bachelor like you.”

Nina didn’t know what to say.

She didn’t mean to do anything. The only reason she was in that kind of get up was because she was forced to. John had thrown all her clothes away.

She glanced over to her clothes and a little smirk formed on her lips, admitting to herself that she looked cool.

However, she had to go to Stone Road that evening and she knew that she couldn’t show up like that. She had no class in the afternoon so she took that opportunity to look for a dress suitable for the family gathering.

Nina made her way to the school gate and tried to hail a cab. She stretched her hand out to call one, but then she realized something and took her hand back quickly.

It was too late, though. Not long after, a taxi soon stopped in front of her. The window rolled down to reveal a middle-aged man who smiled at her. “Mrs. Shi, please get in the car.”

Nina said nothing. She stared blankly at the driver. She blinked a few times and tilted her head slightly to the side. After a few seconds of processing what the man just called her, she raised her eyebrows at him with eyes slightly wide.
The taxi driver had addressed her as Mrs. Shi.

Her brows furrowed. She didn’t know what to think now that even a taxi driver knew that she was married to John.

“Mrs. Shi, I’ll drive you for free. Please get in the car,” he said. The driver seemed excited to get her in the car. He eagerly opened the door for her.

Hearing that it was free, she unconsciously end up sitting in the passenger seat. “Why is it free?”

“Were you not aware, Mrs. Shi? Mr. Shi has bought all the taxi companies in the city recently. You are his wife, so you can take taxis for free.”

Nina felt a bit awkward and massaged the back of her neck. “I’m going to HD Square.”

The taxi driver nodded enthusiastically and stepped on the gas. Nina watched him from her seat. It seemed that the man was very eager to have her as his passenger.

“Won’t you be losing money if you drive me for free? You’d be consuming a lot of gas going to HD Square.”

The driver just smiled and shook his head. “No, I won’t be losing money. Maybe I can even make money.”

Nina raised an eyebrow at him. “This doesn’t make sense. How can you even make money?” She was starting to get suspicious and continued to stare at the driver.

The man, however, remained silent and focused on the road.

After a while, Nina finally decided to give up and leaned her elbow against the car’s window. She stared at the scenery outside silently and little by little her eyes soon closed.

She felt a little sore in her waist and a little sleepy as well.

The car came to a halt after about half an hour later. The driver pulled the breaks and look behind with a smile on his face. “Here we are, Mrs. Shi.”

Nina opened her eyes. “Oh, thank you.” She got out of the car without even being able to clearly see where she was.

The driver also eagerly got out of the car to assist her.

The moment Nina turned around, a large office building was looming over her. The large logo of Time Group was displayed by the entrance.

“Sir, I’m supposed to go to HD Square. Why am I here at Time Group?” Nina asked. She quickly whipped her head back at the driver who just came out of the car.

The man gave her an understanding smile. “Mr. Shi has announced on the news that you always get lost. From now on, we will always be bringing you to Time Group.”

Nina’s brows furrowed. “When did I get lost?” She was confident that she had a good sense of direction. After all, she was able to rely on herself when she came all the way to Lexingport City from C Island.

“Don’t be shy, Mrs. Shi. All of us already know how awful you are at directions. The last time you went out and got lost, Mr. Shi sent a notice to look for you and it took quite a while,” he teased.

The corner of Nina’s mouth twitched a little bit as she remembered the fifteen-second video on the news.

All of that was a lie told by John just to cover up the fact that he couldn’t get her back. She unconsciously clenched her jaw at the thought. What he told everyone was just for his sake.

“Thank you,” she said through gritted teeth. Nina was having trouble describing how she felt at the moment. Even if she took another taxi, it would still end up sending her here.

The only choice she had for now was to march towards the entrance to Time Group.

As Nina started to make her way to the direction of the entrance, the driver happily followed her. He even rushed to get ahead of her and leaned against the front desk with innocent eyes. “Miss, I have Mr. Shi’s wife over here. You said that I would be rewarded greatly, right?” Understanding had finally washed over Nina’s face as soon as she heard what the man said.

“Are you referring to the president’s wife?” The receptionist was a young woman. “Where is she?”

“She’s over here.” The driver pointed at Nina for the receptionist to see. “Don’t you recognize Mrs. Shi?”

It was because Nina was dressed that way that the receptionist wasn’t able to recognize her immediately. The moment the girl saw Nina’s face, her eyes grew wide and her shoulders tensed up. “She really is the president’s wife!”

Nina and John’s marriage license had been broadcasted through all media platforms for the past two days. It wasn’t really a surprise that everyone knew them.

The receptionist quickly took out an envelope. “All right, here’s the reward. You may take it and leave. I have to receive Mrs. Shi properly. If she isn’t treated right, Mr. John will kill me.” The girl’s cheeks were already red as she handed the bulging envelope over to the driver before attending to Nina.

“This way please, Mrs. Shi.”

Nina had been lost in thought for a while. As soon as she heard the receptionist call her name, she snapped back into reality. She had mixed feelings as she glanced back at the driver’s retreating form with the money in his hand.

Earlier, she had been worried that the driver would lose money because he didn’t want her to pay for anything.

However, judging from the scene that just took place before her, the man had actually managed to make a lot of money.

It felt too easy for her.

Nina pursed her lips. She would have to find more taxi drivers to send her there in the future. Then she would make an agreement with them to share her some of the reward.

That way, she could be able to earn some money as well.

The receptionist’s expression turned nervous. When Nina didn’t move, she was afraid that she might have done something wrong. “Mrs Shi, this way please.”

Nina had been staring at the same place where the taxi driver disappeared to earlier. “Okay.”

Although she had already been to Time Group once, she didn’t really enter it. While she followed the receptionist, she had noticed that there were about five passages in front of her that required a key card.

Four of those passages could only be entered through the use of an employee card. The last passage at the rightmost area seemed to require some facial recognition to be able to enter.

Once they were in front of the said entrance, the receptionist turned to Nina and smiled. “Mrs. Shi, the machine will be able to identify your face so you could enter.”

Nina blinked for a few times at the girl. “What?” Once she stood in front of the scanner, the passage soon opened.

There was a small hint of surprise on Nina’s expression before she quickly returned to normal.

The receptionist swiped the card to grant her some access to another passage. Then, she took Nina to a private elevator. The elevator scanned Nina’s face and identified her. As soon as the doors closed, she were taken straight to the CEO’s office on the top floor.

When the elevator doors closed, the receptionist wiped some sweat on her forehead. Two women walked over. One of them was holding a glass of water while the other held a pile of documents.

“Look, I guess I’m right. She is the real wife of Mr. Shi,” one of them said.

“Mrs. Shi is so cool in her outfit. She looks much more beautiful in person,” said the other.

They didn’t discuss any further. Soon after, the two women went to mind their own business.

The moment Nina walked out of the elevator, she saw James.

“Aunt Nina?” He raised his eyebrows, obviously surprised at the sight of her. James stared in shock at Nina. He couldn’t seem to get over the fact that Nina was John’s wife.
