Due to a storm, Zachary’s flight was delayed, preventing him from arriving before F&M Apparel’s annual dinner. As a representative of F&M Apparel’s fashion design team, Nicole could not afford to be late for the annual dinner, so she had no choice but to arrive at the venue in advance for the annual dinner.
Straightening her evening gown, Nicole looked at her adorable son before her, saying, “I’ll probably be home late tonight. Have some snacks if you’re hungry, but don’t eat too much and don’t open the door to strangers.”

“Mom, aren’t you tired of saying that every time you leave the house?” Hayden replied as he looked at the beautiful Nicole before him. Then, he insisted, “

Nicole’s radiant face relaxed into a gentle smile as she was amused by Hayden’s observation. “Alright. In that case, I’ll be leaving first.”

For the occasion, Nicole donned a royal blue evening gown that was slightly fitted to outline her curvy figure, as well as a pair of matching high heels. Since the weather was chilly at the time, she wore a matching overcoat over the dress. The long evening gown was designed to reach her ankles, lending her the graceful air of a young maiden as she walked.

On the way to the hotel, Nicole’s phone rang; it was a call from her assistant back home. After all this time on the way home, I almost forgot I had an assistant, Nicole thought.

Queenie’s voice was gentle with an obsequious tone.

“Uh-huh. What’s the matter?” Nicole asked. Now that I think about it, it seems like I’ve never met this assistant of mine even once.

Queenie tactfully replied, “Uh, well, it’s just that I would like to bring a friend with me to the F&M Apparel annual dinner. Could you please let him join us for the annual dinner, Ms. Lisa?”

This year’s F&M Apparel annual dinner would be a gathering place for the upper class people of the country. Most importantly, Lisa would also be present at the annual dinner. As the chief designer of F&M Apparel, Lisa was fawned over by countless people across the country, and Joseph was one of them. After all, for a clothing company like Mann Clothing Co., meeting Lisa—the chief designer of F&M Apparel—in person would elevate her to a higher position. Queenie was very pleased with the man’s flattery. As she entered, she said, “Just don’t forget what you promised me.” She couldn’t keep Nicole’s son alive, but she couldn’t make an attempt on his life herself, so she could only get someone else to do it on her behalf, which was why she shamelessly helped Joseph.
