- Season 2 Episode 64 - He’s Making Things Right
Calista gritted her teeth She would tear him apart if she weren’t so weak right now. Was he calling her a cow?
The nurse wouldn’t indulge her. It was frustrating enough that she had to pull an all–nighter in the emergency ward
Now, she had to cater to this unreasonable family. She wouldn’t even tolerate it if some big shot had come and questioned her methods, let alone this stranger.
“How would I know if she’s experiencing stomach or abdomen pain if I don’t put some pressure on it.”
Lucian fell silent at her words,
The nurse handed him a number and said, “Go to room 7.”
Calista was relieved when she saw Lucian’s defeated look. She was about to walk over alone, but Lucian had already bent down to pick her up.
“You’re glad, aren’t you?”
Calista didn’t want to bother with his questions. She turned around and answered, “No.”
“Then wipe that smile off your face. It’s ugly.”
Calista glared at him and snapped, “I won’t do that! I also have a perfect row of teeth! Do you want
to see it? I’ll bite you to death!”
The test results came out quickly. It was acute gastroenteritis, and she needed to be hospitalized.
Fort City’s top hospitals only have two wards, and the minimum occupancy was three people per
room.
There are no dedicated beds for family members, so they had to get some foldable chairs from the
nurse’s station.
Calista arrived at the hospital late, and everyone in the other beds was already asleep and snoring
loudly.
Lucian placed her on the bed and asked, “Do you want some water?”

Calista shook her head. She had just vomited downstairs and was feeling weak. The nurse came to
take her temperature and set up an IV.
She looked at Lucian and said, “I’m fine here. You can go back.”
He was dressed too thinly. He would blame her if he had caught a cold. Then, she would have to
take care of him.
Lucian looked down at her coldly and said, “Why didn’t you ask me to leave when I was helping you with all the procedures just now? You’re already turning your back on me as soon as you lie down? You change your mind faster than a page turns.”
The nurse dutifully added, “She still needs an IV. You can’t leave the bedside.”
Calista could only comply.
After all, she hadn’t enjoyed the benefits of having a husband for the past three years of their marriage. Now, she could consider this as him making up for the past.
With that in mind, she closed her eyes, exhausted from the night’s ordeal.
After the nurse inserted the needle, she left with the tray, and the IV fluid slowly entered her bloodstream. In no time, her arm and elbow were freezing.
Calista raised her hand and said, “Could you please bring me a hot water bottle to put under my arms?”
Lucian sat in a chair with his arms crossed and closed his eyes as if he were dozing off. Hearing her request, he opened his eyes and glanced at her.
The main light in the ward had been turned off, leaving only a small night light at the bedside. It provided just enough light to see around the bed without disturbing the rest of the patients.
Calista lay on her side, burying her face in the soft pillow. Her face was as pale as a sheet.
Her eyes were shut, and her eyelashes cast dark shadows on her face. She didn’t sleep soundly, possibly due to the cold or abdominal pain. Her brows were furrowed due to the discomfort.
Lucian sat there, his gaze fixated on her pale lips. He remained still for a long time.
It wasn’t until Calista fell into a deep sleep, only to be awakened by the cold, that he finally got up and left.

“That “Calista whispered, knowing it was Lucian
She closed her eyes, and as her hands and feet warmed up, she quickly fell into a deep sleep
When the nurse came to remove the IV, she woke up briefly. She happened to catch sight of Lucian setting in the chair.
He was still wearing the same pajamas, and the stains on his clothes had dried, leaving faint marks He glanced at her when he saw her awake.
Calista asted Do you want to go back and change into some fresh clothes? Get some rest.”
She sounded very drowsy as if she could fall asleep any moment. Her stomach no longer hurt, and there shouldn’t be much that he needed to do now.
Lucian was in a dare, having spent the entire night without sleep.
He began to ask, “Do you feel sorry for me?”
“Not at all,” she replied.
Her words lacked vigor due to her extreme drowsiness. Lucian gave her a cold glance and closed his eyes again
Then be quiet and get some sleep.”
One minute later, he opened his eyes, but he did not receive a response. As expected, Calista had fallen silent and was sleeping.
Not only that, but she had turned away from him, seemingly intent on ignoring him.
The next morning, at eight o’clock, the doctor began his rounds. Nicholas had also brought
Lucian’s clothes. Paul, Gloria, and Philip were also there.
Last night, Lucian had called Philip to inform him that Calista had been hospitalized when he
went out to buy a hot water bottle.

Nicholas seemed to have just been pulled out of bed with messy hair.
“Calista, are you feeling better? How did you suddenly get gastroenteritis?”
Calista lay there lethargically.
“Hmm, stop making a fuss.”
From last night until now, she only slept slightly over three hours. She wanted badly to kick all of
them out right now.
Nicholas answered, “Okay.”
Reluctantly, he moved to the side and took out his phone, ready to play a game. Gloria gave him a
stern look and snatched his phone away, replacing it with a thermos.
“Give Calista some soup. You shouldn’t be playing games all day at your age. What will you do
when you start working at your brother–in–law’s company?”
While pouring some soup, Nicholas muttered, “She will definitely have my brother–in–law arrange
an easy, high–paying job for me where I can still play games.”
Calista didn’t spare him any mercy and burst his bubble of dreams.
“I would give myself that job if it exists. Forget about the Northwood family. Even legitimate
companies don’t have positions like that. I advise you to buy a book on criminal law. It would
cover a job that’s easy, high–paying, and allows you to play games.”
He considered just drinking the soup for himself. Paul took the soup from his hand.
“I’ll…..”
Before he could finish his sentence, Lucian reached out for the soup, too. Their eyes met, and both
saw the unwavering determination in each other’s eyes.
