Qin Youjiao was about to hand over the gift box in her hand when she heard Old Master Qin say, “Ge’er just finished school and must be hungry. Let’s get ready to eat first.”

With that, Old Master Qin took Pei Yunge and let her sit beside the head of the table.

Usually, only those younger members of the family whom the elder liked had the chance to sit in that seat. Seeing this, Qin Youjiao’s eyes darkened and her fingernails almost broke the skin of her palms!

Mrs Qin could not help frowning. “Dad, Ah Ting has always been the one sitting here before. How can you let her… Ge’er sit here?”

Old Master Qin was not happy after hearing this.

He had no expression on his face. “In this case, Ge’er will sit at the head of the table. An old man like me can just take a stool and sit next to Ge’er. Is that acceptable then?”

Mr Qin immediately said, “Dad, you must be joking. There’s nothing particular about this seat. Whoever you want to sit next to you, will sit next to you.”

“That’s more like it.” Old Master Qin snorted, pulled Pei Yunge’s hand and sat down.

Qin Youjiao’s eyes turned red with envy when she saw this! Even when she was the most doted on in the Qin family before, she did not have this treatment!!

By now, Qin Youjiao was unbearably upset, and Mrs Qin’s expression did not look good as well.

“There’s still a little time before we start eating. Dad, why don’t you have a look at Jiaojiao’s present first?” Mrs Qin urged.

Hearing this, Old Master Qin furrowed his eyebrows and glanced at the pair.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Qin Youjiao put the gift box on the table and opened it.

Inside was a silver ornament from overseas.

It was not too expensive to make Old Master Qin suspicious, nor would its price fall, plus it was rare. Mrs Qin knew that Old Master Qin liked silver from overseas.

“You bought this?”

Old Master Qin looked at Qin Youjiao. “This is not cheap, is it?”

Qin Youjiao lowered her head and nodded. “But if Grandpa likes it, it doesn’t matter how expensive it is.”

Old Master Qin sighed. He had seen this child grown up and she was indeed filial.

But, Mr and Mrs Qin’s preference for Qin Youjiao really angered him. This was one of the main reasons that led to Old Mr Qin being extremely furious.

“Thank you.” Old Mr Qin was still indifferent.

Seeing this, Mrs Qin said with a smile, “Jiaojiao has always been sensible.” Then, she asked casually, “Ge’er, what did you buy for your grandfather?”

Having been put on the spot, Pei Yunge looked up and met with Mrs Qin’s eyes, which made Mrs Qin feel an inexplicable guilt.

Then Pei Yunge only said calmly, “I didn’t buy anything.”

When she heard this, Qin Youjiao, who was sitting by the side, had a look of ridicule in her eyes. Beside her, Mrs Qin said, “Your grandfather just came back and you didn’t buy anything for him?”

“Enough!”

Old Master Qin frowned. “Ge’er being healthy is the best gift to me!”

Before Mirs Qin had the time to refute, she heard Qin Lang ask, “Mom, how much living expenses have you given to Ge’er?”

Living expenses? Mrs Qin choked and her expression changed.

“What? Why are you hesitating? Does Ge’er not receive any living expenses?”

Old Master Qin’s expression darkened in an instant.

“N-No, that’s not it. I’ve always asked the butler to give her the living expenses.”

At this, Qin Lang gave a wry chuckle. “I fired the butler. He only gave Ge’er $2000 for living expenses every month. The rest he took it for himself.”

“Two thousand???”

Old Master Qin slammed his fist on the table and was almost dizzy from the pulsating rage he felt inside. “Are you even her biological parents?!”

Mr and Mrs Qin swallowed down their response and only looked flustered.
