- Season 2 Episode 67 - Getting Rid Of Lucian's Support
The following morning, the sky was covered in a somber gray hue, with the light struggling to break through the clouds.
Iron Boxing Stadium, a business owned by Tyler. Besides being a boxer, Tyler was also a formidable figure in the underworld.
In his bedroom, he slept deeply, unaware of the impending danger. “Boom!”
Suddenly, the bedroom door was forcefully kicked open, and three burly men stealthily entered. Each of them was armed with an electric baton and held a bag, moving with remarkable coordination. They approached Tyler and jabbed him with the electric baton, sending waves of pain through his body.
“Bzzt… Bzzt…”
“Ah!”
Tyler’s body jolted with the intense electric current, waking him up. His gaze turned fierce as he glared at the intruders. Despite his instinctual impulse to retaliate with a punch, the electric current coursing through his body left him immobilized, draining his strength.
“He’s still so spirited even after the shock.”
One of the men was surprised.
“Of course, that’s why he’s one of the top three boxing champions,” another responded.
“Stop talking and let’s get on with it,” the leader urged.
With synchronized efficiency, the trio set to work. Their movements were fluid and precise as they placed Tyler inside a sack. Their silent coordination indicated a history of working together; they were experienced professionals in this type of operation.
Similar events occurred to two other individuals.
Simultaneously, two separate groups of mysterious people broke into the residences of the Grim Reapers and Prince Ezekiel. Swift and calculated in their actions, they swiftly subdued their targets before covertly spiriting them away in sacks, all without arousing the suspicion of any of their followers.
However, secrets have a way of being revealed.
By 8 a.m., the loyal followers of these three prominent figures discovered that their bosses had gone missing. They searched everywhere, but their efforts were in vain. Something must have happened!
Their leaders were not ordinary people. To be spirited away so stealthily indicated that they must have somehow incurred the wrath of powerful individuals.
In this situation, they could only seek help from Lucian.
At Maple Garden,
A group of people sat down for breakfast in the restaurant. Freya’s Skyline Realty had successfully embarked on the right path, and Frank had used his connections to secure a small project. Although the profits were modest, about 200,000 dollars, it was a significant stepping stone for Skyline Realty’s growth.
Freya was elated by the news.
However, their celebratory mood was soon disrupted by the unexpected arrival of three guests.
“Why are all of you here?” Lucian regarded the group of men standing at the doorstep, his brows furrowing with puzzlement.
He recognized them as confidants of Tyler, the Grim Reapers, and Prince Ezekiel. Their unexpected presence sparked a sense of apprehension within Lucian. Gesturing for them to step outside, he suggested, “Let’s talk outside.”
Freya rushed over, adding, “Lucian, it’s cold out there. Let’s discuss this inside.
I’m sure they haven’t eaten yet. Mom prepared plenty of food, let them eat.”
Freya’s curiosity about Lucian’s matters had grown significantly. Every time someone came to him, he would always discuss it outside the house. She did not want Lucian hiding too many things from her as she felt insecure.
Lucian turned his attention to them. “Have you all had breakfast?”
“No,” the group replied in unison.
Before Lucian could continue, Freya swept in and ushered them inside. With a warm smile, she said, “Come in quickly and have some food. You must be hungry.”
“Thank you, Sister-in-law,” they chimed gratefully.
Lucian directed his focus back to their purpose. “Why did you come to me all of a sudden?”
The three men spoke almost in unison, their voices tense.””Mr. Lucian, something terrible happened! Our bosses have been captured!”
Lucian’s heart jolted at the revelation. “What happened?”
In response, one of the confidantes explained, “This morning, I went to meet Prince Ezekiel for a discussion, but he vanished without a trace. He wasn’t answering his phone, and despite searching for him everywhere, I couldn’t find him. His room was in a mess, so something must have happened.”
The other two confidantes shared similar stories. Their bosses’ rooms were messy, and they disappeared inexplicably.
If one person was missing, maybe they went to handle private affairs. However, three bosses disappearing at the same time meant that something must have gone wrong. Someone was behind this.
As Freya and Dixie exchanged puzzled glances, Lucian pressed further, “Did your bossės offend someone?”
After a moment of contemplation, Lucian continued, “No. Prince Ezekiel has been maintaining a low profile recently, and with the fall of the three major kings, he’s one of the most influential figures in the city. Who could possibly capture him so stealthily?”
Freya interjected with her thoughts, “Lucian, I don’t think they got captured because they offended someone…”
Lucian turned his attention to her, intrigued. “Please, tell me what you think.”
Freya began to analyze the situation. “I don’t know about Tyler, but I know the connections between Prince Ezekiel, the Grim Reapers, and you. They were all taken away at the same time by the same people. Who do you think it is?”
“Because I…”
Lucian’s thoughts seemed to strike something, prompting him to speak unconsciously.
“Yes, it’s quite plausible that you caused the three of them to be caught.”
Freya’s demeanor grew increasingly serious as she continued her analysis. “You assaulted Hughie, Aunt Dixie’s son, just last night. Given the ties between the Robertson family and the Sun Moon Chamber of Commerce, it’s possible that they could have taken them away silently.”
Upon hearing Freya’s analysis, a sudden realization swept over the group, allowing them to connect the dots.
It certainly adds up!
Although the Sun Moon Chamber of Commerce had only recently risen to prominence, it wielded significant influence across the three cities, holding dominion over both the underworld and the legitimate spheres.
If this was true, it meant that the four of them had indeed been captured under the joint efforts of the Robertson family and the Sun Moon Chamber of Commerce.
Dixie’s voice broke the silence, laden with concern. “Fay is right, the Robertson family is behind this. You even said you wanted to stop them from becoming an elite family. Plus, you have the three of them supporting you. The Robertson family is doing this to keep you vulnerable.”
Dixie’s words shed light on the truth.
In response, Frank, Annie, Freya, and Dixie’s expressions were worried. They finally understood why Lucian was so confident last night.
The power of the Robertson family and the Sun Moon Chamber of Commerce is too strong!
With Lucian’s support suddenly crumbling, how could he possibly stand against them?
Lucian’s tone carried a hint of disdain:
“The Robertson family certainly acts quickly.”
“Mr. Lucian, what should we do now? Our leaders have been captured, will something happen to them?” The three confidants asked, their faces reflecting worry.
“We’ll need to find someone important from the Robertson family.”
Lucian stood up and began to speak.
“Are you really going?” Freya’s voice was filled with concern.
“No matter what, we have to ensure Tyler and the others are safe. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it,” Lucian reassured, his hand gently stroking Freya’s hair.
“Be careful,” Freya didn’t try to stop Lucin, but instead urged him to stay safe.
“I’ll go with you,” Dixie declared, standing up from her seat. “This mess is partly my fault, it wouldn’t be right for me to back down.”
“Alright.” Lucian nodded, accepting Dixie’s request to join him.
As Lucian and the others began to make their way out, Minnie unexpectedly handed Lucian a bun. She spoke softly, “Lucian, take care. I’m going to switch schools soon, remember? You promised that you’ll take me and Mom there.”
Although Minnie’s current elementary school was respectable, Lucian and Freya had discussed the matter and decided to enfoll her in a school near their luxurious villa in Maple Garden for a better education.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” Lucian said, his hand gently patting Minnie’s head.
Even though Minnie hadn’t started calling him “Dad” yet, Lucian sensed the genuine concern behind her actions, a subtle shift in their relationship.
