Norman was unconvinced. He had been honored as a God of War. He and Lucian had similar battle achievements. Norman had led troops in war and protected the western border. So why should Lucian revoke his military rank?
“You’re asking me why?” Lucian narrowed his eyes and asked coldly.
“That’s right!”
Norman lost control of his emotions. His eyes burned with anger as he gritted his teeth and asked, “You’re a War God, and so am I. We both have titles bestowed upon us by King Vandergrift himself. Why does the Infernal War God have the right to strip another War God of their title? Is it because you completed two missions abroad? I could have succeeded at that too. You just got lucky.”
Everyone fell silent as they listened to his words. They could understand why he felt resentful.
They could also see the envy in his eyes!
He envied the various privileges that the Infernal War God enjoyed.
The Four War Gods should be equal. Why was the Infernal War God the only one with five stars? Why was the Infernal War God the only one known as the Army King? And most importantly, why did the Infernal War God have the privilege to abolish the ranks of other War Gods?
It was incredibly unfair!
“…” Lucian lit a cigarette and didn’t bother to answer.
He simply had no interest in giving him an answer.
“Let me tell you why the Infernal War God is the only one among the Four War Gods with five stars and why he has all these perks…”
An authoritative voice echoed through the air.
Everyone turned to see three old men in suits approaching.
Everyone shuddered at the sight of them. Their expressions contorted in horror.
The Three Royal Elders…
They had arrived..
All Vandergrifters would recognize the three men before them. They were the three military advisors on King Vandergrift’s side and had made outstanding contributions to the military.
Even Norman was dumbfounded to see them.
“Allow me to answer why the Infernal War God is granted so many privileges, Norman Guevara!”
Grand Elder Gael Barlowe’s expression was ice-cold.
“Five years ago, we lost the Nordfren War Zone. Five enemy countries jointly attacked. Over sixty thousand mercenaries invaded Vandergrift. It was Lucian who led three thousand elite soldiers to build a wall. It was he who defended the country against foreign invaders by risking his life.”
“Four years ago, an enemy nation trapped King Vandergrift on an uninhabited island. They sent eighty thousand elite soldiers to seal off the island, leaving us unable to rescue him. It was Lucian alone, armed with a gun, who rescued King Vandergrift and brought him to safety.”
“Three years ago, the four war zones led fifty thousand elite soldiers to fight against the enemy. When we were nearly wiped out, it was Lucian alone wielding the Areos Spear, who secured victory after fighting against thirty thousand mercenaries for three whole days.”
“One year ago, Lucian led the Infernal Legion to subjugate eight countries with brute strength while King Vandergrift was attending the United Nations Conference. This allowed Vandergrift to become influential internationally and become the head of eight nations, effectively crowning Vandergrift as king.”
Gael’s icy gaze fixed on Norman once he finished.
“Do you now understand why the Infernal War God has five stars?”
“Do you now understand why the Infernal War God is called the Army King?”
“He earned it all by risking his life.”
The entirety of Sioux Peak seemed to fall silent.
Everyone fell silent as they turned to look at Lucian.
Infernal!
Infernal!
Infernal!
Roars of thousands of soldiers resounded at the foot of Sioux Peak. Their fiery eyes were fixed on the figure they admired, the one who embodied the soul of a soldier, Infernal!
Why did Lucian hold the title of Infernal War God?
It was because he carried the weight of Vandergrift’s darkness while leading the nation towards the dawn in their most difficult times!
Norman, the Staleridge War God, was only honored as a War God after the nation had stabilized and achieved peace. He had not experienced Vandergrift’s toughest years. He was a War God of the new era, welcoming the dawn, while Lucian was the guardian who drove away the darkness and retired at dawn.
The difference was clear!
“Do you now understand why the Infernal War God is granted all these privileges, Norman?” Gael asked coldly.
Norman turned pale and collapsed to the floor. His vigor had completely left him. It was as if he had aged. He nodded. “I…understand!”
“The Infernal War God has requested for you to relinquish your rank and retire. Do you agree?” Gael asked.
“I…agree!”
Norman silently agreed.
The Staleridge War God had been stripped of his rank!
Once again, everyone’s attention turned to Lucian.
Everyone had assumed that Lucian would meet a terrible fate alongside the Staleridge War God. No one expected him to become the Five-Star grand marshal, the Infernal War God.
This was a scenario that none of them could have anticipated.
The ones who regretted it the most were the Gray family. They had lost both the Father of Commerce and the Army King!
Regret was a powerful emotion.
They were now paying the price for their mistakes.
Gael led the other two elders to pay their respects at Alexander’s grave. Everyone’s jaws dropped at the sight.

Alexander Gray was truly a man to be admired.
He was renowned for his prowess in life.
And even in death, he was respected, with thousands of soldiers firing in the air in mourning and major superpowers coming to pay tribute. What was most unbelievable was that the Three Royal Elders had traveled thousands of miles to pay their respects. Who else but Alexander would have such an honor?
After all, his son was the Infernal War God!
The Three Royal Elders were busy with. their duties. Once they paid their respects, they discussed matters about the Nordfren War Zone with Lucian and left in a hurry.
“Now it’s your turn to apologize and show your respect.”
Lucian turned his attention back to Henry and the others. “Three days. Anyone who dares to run away… You know the consequences.”
The group was close to tears!
Who would even attempt to escape? It didn’t matter where they went. None of them would be able to escape from the Infernal War God’s grasp. “
Also, I don’t want anything that happened here today to get out. Do not reveal my identity.”
“If anything gets out, all of you will be dead. I’m not joking.”
Lucian’s icy gaze scanned the crowd.
Everyone shuddered. They felt as though they were being stared down by a formidable beast. No one dared to make any sudden movements, only nodding in agreement.
Just as he was about to leave, Henry, Oscar, and Jackson approached him to talk.
“What is it? Tell me!”
He didn’t bother to show the group any respect.
Henry was anxious after discovering Lucian’s true identity. “Lucian… No, my- lord. There’s something important I need to tell you. We are not responsible for your father’s death…”
