“What?!” Lucian was stunned, looking at Freya with surprise written all over his face.
For the past few days, Lucian and Freya had barely communicated. He had assumed that Freya was trying to avoid suspicion by keeping her distance, but he never expected her to make this kind of decision.
To give up everything and accompany him to face the Staleridge War God, what kind of courage did that require?
“Fay, you’re going to accompany me to face the Staleridge War God?” Lucian turned to Freya and asked.
“Yeah.” Freya didn’t say much, but her determined gaze spoke volumes.
“Is it worth it to do this for me?” Lucian hesitated for a moment before asking.
Freya walked up to Lucian with a slight smile on her face and said, “What’s worth it or not? When you first came back, I was a cripple, but you were willing to stay by my side and even start a business with me. Now that you’re in trouble, how can I leave you behind?”
“We’re husband and wife, and some difficulties must be faced together. I don’t want to be a deserter.”
At this moment, Lucian’s eyes were slightly red, obviously moved by Freya’s words. For a moment, he didn’t know how to describe his feelings. With a woman like her by his side, he was undoubtedly the happiest man in the world.
Even though they knew there were dangers ahead, Freya still accompanied him to face them.
A woman like her was enough to have all of him.
“Thank you,” Lucian said without hesitation as he hugged Freya tightly, his emotions running high.
Freya rested her head on Lucian’s chest without saying a word, wrapping her arms around his back.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let you down,” Lucian whispered. “It’s just a Staleridge War God, and they can’t do anything to us. I will protect you.”
“I…I believe you,” Freya said softly.
But in reality, Freya didn’t believe Lucian’s words. The Staleridge War God was a mighty figure, and it would be easy for them to wipe them out. However, in this situation, Freya didn’t want to crush Lucian’s confidence, so she spoke softly.
“Lucian, you’re a madman,” Annie exclaimed. How could she sit by and watch her daughter die? She shouted at him, “You’re a damn fool. At this point, you’re still spouting this unreliable nonsense? What do you have to fight against the Staleridge War God? Prince Ezekiel and the Grim Reapers? In his eyes, they’re nothing.”
“Mom, just trust me this once. I’ll protect Fay.
Lucian spoke with utmost sincerity.
“How can I trust you? Do you think you’re the Infernal War God or something, trying to fight against the Staleridge War God? On what grounds?” Annie’s emotions were out of control. She pulled Freya behind her and glared at her, saying, “Freya, I won’t allow you to follow Lucian to your death. Even if you don’t care about us, you should at least consider Minnie. If you die, she’ll be left without a mother.”
Upon hearing this, Freya turned to look at Minnie. When she saw the tears in Minnie’s eyes, struggling to hold them back, her heart broke.
“Minnie, do you hate me?” Freya approached Minnie, holding her in her arms and asking.
Minnie didn’t answer Freya’s question. Instead, she stared at Lucian with hatred in her eyes and said fiercely, “I don’t hate you, but I hate him. When you were helpless and alone, he never showed up. And now, he wants to take you away from me. I hate him.”
“Minnie, trust Daddy. Everything will be okay,” Lucian said, approaching Minnie.
“I hate you!!!!” Minnie burst into tears, pushing Freya away and running straight up to the second floor.
Freya sat on the sofa, too overwhelmed to chase after Minnie. She covered her face and said in distress, “I’m sorry for Minnie, she was born into our family and hasn’t had a single good day. And now, she has to…

“Lucian, I won’t say anything that would make you cut ties with my daughter.”
“But I must give you a choice. Take Fay and Minnie and run away, I’ll sell the villa and the property and send you the money. It’s enough to live a simple life. If you take my daughter to die, I’ll never agree!”
“Or else, you can leave and never come back.”
Annie glared at Lucian and said firmly.
“Three days later is the anniversary of my father’s death, I can’t leave.”
Lucian’s expression was equally resolute.
Annie was so angry that she couldn’t even speak properly, pointing at Lucian and repeating the same word over and over again.
Frank, who was an honest man, usually let Annie make all the decisions regarding family matters. He sat silently on the side, but his eyes were filled with anger.
In this big world, how many parents would watch their child go to their death without doing anything about it?
“Mom, Dad, I trust that Lucian will take care of me,” Freya stood up, wiped away her tears, and said, “From now on, please take care of Minnie. There’s still a lot of money left in this card that hasn’t been used, enough for you to live on.”
“Get out of here, I don’t want this money,” Annie slapped the bank card out of Freya’s hand and ran out of the villa crying.
Frank quickly stood up to chase after Annie, and as he passed by the couple, he shouted, “Freya, you are too selfish…”
Upon hearing those words, Freya burst into tears and leaned into Lucian’s embrace, whispering, “I know I am selfish, but I can’t bear to watch my man go to his death. I just can’t…”
Those words tore at Lucian’s heart, and he held Freya tightly.
Fay, we won’t die. I promise you, I will make you the happiest woman in the world.
In tears, Annie ran out of the villa and came to the artificial lake near the community, where she cried bitterly. She thought of her daughter who was about to become an enemy of the Staleridge War God and felt a sharp pain in her heart.
There’s no way out.
How could Lucian and Freya possibly defeat the Staleridge War God?
“Annie.” Frank was a quiet man and didn’t know how to comfort Annie in this situation.
“Frank, what should we do?” Annie cried, seeking solace in Frank’s embrace. “They have no chance against the Staleridge War God. They could have left and lived a simple life. Why do they have to put their lives at risk? Why?”
Frank sighed, feeling utterly helpless. “Lucian and Freya, they’re both so stubborn,” he lamented.
Determination filled Annie’s eyes as she gazed at Frank and declared, “I may not be able to stop Lucian, but I must prevent Freya from going. She’s our only daughter. How can I just stand by and watch her march towards her own death?”
“But you know how headstrong Fay is. How can we possibly dissuade her?” Frank responded, fully aware of his daughter’s unwavering personality. Once she sets her mind on something, nothing can sway her.
“This is a problem with a simple solution, and I can help you!” Orion appeared, accompanied by Henry, wearing a sinister smile on his face. “Freya is acting foolishly. She’s willing to sacrifice her parents, her child, and even her own life for someone who doesn’t deserve it. As a parent, I empathize deeply with your pain.”
