After a while, Caroline couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you keep staring at me?”

Evan sat gracefully in a chair, crossing his legs. “Let’s talk about us.

Caroline evaded the topic. “There’s nothing between us to discuss.”

“Really? Then explain why you warned me that I’d regret it,” Evan asked

Caroline said, “Words spoken in a moment of desperation hold little truth.”

Evan’s expression was calm as if he had predicted that Caroline would not tell the truth.

“I won’t force you if you don’t want to explain it. But I believe you’d like to know about Axel, right?”

Evan said.

Caroline looked at him. “What are you trying to say?”

“Axel is our child.”

Caroline did not wish to beat about the bush. “So what if he is?”

“I’m not planning on letting Axel meet you anymore,‘ Evan said

Caroline was stunned. “Why not?”

Evan scoffed. “Do you think you deserve to be Axel’s mother?”

Caroline chuckled. “What? Do you think the child is yours alone? He is my son, too! You don’t have

the right to stop him from meeting me! I still have visitation rights!”

“You know that Axel is your son too, huh? However, you divide your motherly love that Axel

deserves to two bastards who shouldn’t exist!”

‘Bastards?‘

Caroline held her breath for a moment and looked at Evan in shock

Yes! She wanted to keep their children’s background a secret, but she would never allow someone

to call them bastards!

Caroline was so furious that she stood up and slapped Evan.

However, Evan lifted his hand and firmly grasped Caroline’s wrist. He gazed at her with cold,

indifferent eyes. “Are you upset because I’m correct?”

“Evan, you’re a jerk!” Caroline reprimanded.

“I’m a jerk?” Evan got up in anger and pulled Caroline before he flung her to the bed.

Caroline wanted to push Evan away, yet Evan held her hands so tightly with one hand that she could

not move.

“Let go of me, Evan!” Caroline snarled.

Evan exerted more strength in his ‘grip. “Was this how the two bastards‘ father touched you?”

He moved his hand to another spot on Caroline’s body. “Or like this?”

Intense feelings of humiliation washed over her, and she could not hold back her shakiness,

“Let go of me. I’m begging you!”

Evan felt his heart sank at the sight of Caroline’s tears.

The anger in his eyes was drowned by coldness as he loosened his grip over her with a sneer. “Did you

really think I’d sleep with you? You should know that I m a neat freak. I find another man’s woman

filthy!”

Evan turned around and left after saying that.

Caroline hugged herself, yet she could not stop shaking

Kenny and Neil came to the hospital at night and kept Tyler company with Caroline.

Tyler had yet to wake up, and his face was pale.

Kenny said angrily, “How dare that scoundrel inject such a high dose of anesthesia in a child!”

Caroline wiped Tyler’s hands with a towel gently with quilt in her eyes.

“Carol. Listen to me and increase security measures. We can’t let dangerous situations like this happen

again.”
