Alex realized his explanation was futile. He took a deep breath and said, “I’m fickle, but I have my

limits too, Paige. If you don’t mind, please give me time. I will take responsibility for you.”

“Am I supposed to thank you?” Paige rolled her eyes.

Alex was rendered speechless by the ineffective communication.

After dealing with the car, Alex went upstairs to meet Evan. As he reached the office entrance, he immediately heard an angry voice. “What kind of bullshit is this? Get out of here if you can’t do

this!”

“Yes, sir. I will work on it right now, Mr. Jordan!”

The planning department employee ran out of the office in a panic and left after greeting Alex.

Alex glanced at the disordered office and playfully asked, “Who got you all riled up, Mr. Jordan?”

Evan looked at Alex and said coldly, “What brought you here?”

Alex asked back, “Why are you venting your anger at me, too?”

Even sat down and said in a rigid tone, “You seem to have a lot of free time.”

“It’s okay. However, what’s going on with you?” Alex picked up the folder on the floor and put it on

Evan’s desk.

Alex asked, “Is it because of your mother?”

“You seem to have a lot of questions,” Evan retorted.

Alex smiled. “I’m just showing my concern for you. Tell me if something is

wholeheartedly‘? If you truly love her, learn to embrace all of her.”

“If you were in my shoes, would you be so rational?”

“No, but I will follow my heart. I think that you should question yourself whether you love the

Caroline who saved you or the current Caroline,” Alex answered.

Alex raised an eyebrow. “If that is the case, move on as long as you don’t regret this.”

Evan squinted. How could he move on after looking for her for so long? He couldn’t accept her

having kids with another man or her talking about their children vaguely with him.
