At this moment, Charlie was undergoing facial treatments.

His face, marred with scars, was covered in a pale green ointment, and the pleasant scent of medicine

permeated the small nursing room.

The door of the nursing room was suddenly pushed open, and Cecilia walked in.

Jacob’s assistant attempted to stop her but failed, looking apologetically at Jacob, who turned and

looked at the door.

“Professor Fox. Sorry, I couldn’t stop Ms. Yancey,” the assistant said, her tone tinged with resentment.

If it weren’t for Cecilia’s close relationship with the Shaw family, she would have given her a good

scolding for barging into the nursing room so rudely.

Jacob, though initially displeased, smiled as soon as he saw Cecilia. “Ms. Yancey, what brings you to

my department? Is there something you need?”

He was polite to Cecilia not because of her connection with the Shaw family.

It was because the scar–softening ointment he was using was created by her.

At that time, she was still known as Cecilia.

Before Cecilia could reply, Charlie, with the ointment still on his face, sat up and said, “She’s here to

find me.”

Professor Fox suddenly had a realization. “The Shaw and Jennings families are close; you must know

each other.”

He applied the last bit of ointment on Charlie’s temple and instructed him, “Lie down; the ointment

needs to stay on for half an hour. I have other matters to attend to. I’ll come back to remove it for you

later.”

With that, he left the nursing room, leaving Cecilia and Charlie alone.

Charlie obediently reclined on the chair, his eyes fixed on Cecilia with a hint of amusement in his eyes.

“We agreed to meet at noon. Couldn’t you wait even an hour? Are you so eager to see me?”

Cecilia took a seat where Jacob had been sitting earlier.

She met Charlie’s gaze, and the cold resistance in her eyes had faded somewhat.

After all, she needed his help now.

assist in the research for the antidote?” she inquired.

don’t worry. We need to sign a cooperation agreement first. Then I can ask Professor Farsons for

help.”

“Time waits for no one. Can’t we talk about it now? I can pay extra. Professor Farsons can name any

price.”

“Professor Farsons is currently working on a medicine to treat cerebral palsy. He’s deeply engrossed in

his research and won’t be easily swayed by money to divert his attention to other matters.” As he said

this, he continued to write in Morse code: [I have no antidote, but I know what Jeffrey used for the

antidote.]

This was tremendous news for Cecilia.

She suppressed her excitement and continued discussing the contract details with Charlie, intending to

confuse anyone monitoring him. During this period, Charlie had provided Cecilia with the names of the

medicines Jeffrey used for the antidote.

Having obtained the information she wanted, Cecilia didn’t linger and hurriedly ended the topic.

“I’ll consider the contract details during lunch. I need to go back and take care of Chris now.” After

saying this, she turned and left.

Charlie called out to her. “Don’t rush. We need to discuss the distribution of shares. After all, the

pharmaceutical company isn’t just mine.”

Cecilia turned back and saw him write again: [If Christopher’s poison is cured, pretend it hasn’t been.]

Charlie sat across from her and took off his mask and cap.

Drawing with fingers at the public dining area would be too obvious, so they communicated through the

speed at which they chewed their food. After the meal, Cecilia learned a lot about Wolf Killer and

Charlie’s plan to come to Acocester.

As they left the restaurant and parted ways, Cecilia grabbed Charlie’s arm and tapped her fingers

lightly. [Give me a day to consider whether I’ll trust you and cooperate with you.]

Charlie understood her message and teased, “Little Girl, why grab me? Can’t bear to let me go?”

Cecilia shook off his arm. “You’re overthinking. I just want to remind you to get Professor Farsons to

conduct the antidote experiment as soon as possible. Chris can’t wait much longer.”

“Fine, I’ll draft the contract later. Once you sign it, I’ll notify Professor Farsons.”

“Deal!”

“Little Girl, to be honest, I secretly wish for Christopher’s demise. That’s the only way I can have a

chance,” Charlie said before slipping away quickly.

Shouting after his retreating figure, Cecilia threatened, “Say that again next time, and I’ll break your

legs!”

With the act concluded, she got into her car and left, heading back to the hospital.

This time, her first stop was the laboratory.
