Cecilia did not answer Christopher’s question.

Instead, she changed the subject and replied, “Let’s investigate the clues we have so far first.”

Knowing that the topic of the Shaw family might involve confidential matters, Christopher didn’t probe further.

He looked at the exhausted–looking Cecilia and caressed her head gently.

“Go back to sleep. I’ll investigate.”

Though Cecilia was genuinely worn out, she shook her head, “We’ll do it together. It’s faster this way.”

With that, she took a gander at the desk and asked, “Do you have a spare computer?”

“There’s one in the lounge. I’ll get it.”

Christopher went to the lounge and took out a spare laptop. After unlocking it, he handed it over to Cecilia.

“What do you plan to do with those two men?”

Cecilia thought for a moment before responding, “Treat their injuries, and then let them go.”

Christopher nodded in agreement. “I’ll make arrangements

now.”

Letting them go was more useful than sending them to the police station.

That was because the mastermind would never allow them to live.

In this way, others could be lured out.

After Christopher left, Cecilia didn’t immediately look into the clues but called the police headquarters.

It had been hours after she left, so the police must have found some things.

Once the arrest operation ended, Cecilia’s letter of

While he was mulling over this, his secretary knocked on the office door.

“Chief Delacruz, a confidential document has been received.”

“Come in. I’ll deal with it right away.”

After saying that, Gael was about to hang up Cecilia’s call.

Just as he was about to speak, Cecilia asked, “What have you found in Lommore Bridge, the chemical plant, and the container port, respectively?”

“I’ll ask my subordinate to send you the investigation file later, but it can’t be shared with the public. Please keep it confidential, Ms. Yancey.”

“I know the rules. Don’t worry.”

“All right. Bye.”

With that, Gael hung up the phone without giving Cecilia another chance to speak.

Looking at the strictly confidential document sent by his secretary, he took a deep breath before slowly unsealing the kraft envelope.

Inside contained a reassignment document that stated Evan, the commander of Peacekeeping Forces, would be heading the special operations unit. This unit was not managed by the police, but the police had to serve it unconditionally.

The members of the unit were selected by Evan and had signed confidentiality agreements. No one was allowed to disclose a single word regarding it, especially Evan’s identity. At present, there were already two confirmed members on the name list–Cecilia and Christopher.

After reading it, Gael was surprised yet felt it was within expectations.

Recalling what he had promised Cecilia before, he

immediately told his subordinate to send her the investigation

file.

In fact, the reassignment document was also received by Acocester Police Headquarters and Jacaster Police

Headquarters.

These three places were where Cecilia would be going next and where the mastermind would make a move.

Evan planned to establish full deployment and control. Even if he couldn’t catch the real culprit, he had to protect Cecilia. Meanwhile, Cecilia still didn’t know about the investigation unit and was currently reading the investigation file sent by the

Fiona’s shipping container was rented by Jason.

The three people killed by Fiona all had fake IDs like those caught in the chemical plant; thus, no helpful information could be obtained.

Despite that, judging from Jason’s travel routes, the

mastermind’s den had to be in the country of Yowhayton, which was right next to Wolgast.

The situation in Yowhayton was extremely chaotic, and there were profiteering enterprises. The forces of each country were complicated, so it wouldn’t be easy to investigate.

Still, just because it wouldn’t be easy to investigate didn’t mean one couldn’t.

At that thought, Cecilia began to investigate the information. obtained from the two men.

Soon after, Christopher came back.

“The two have been released. If nothing goes wrong, someone will soon take the bait tonight.”

While speaking, he walked to his desk and sat down. “Since the murderer is dead, Juliana’s case has been publicized.”

Cecilia raised her head. “The police are indeed quite efficient. I wonder if most people would say Juliana deserved it or pity her.”

Yvette hadn’t called to demand an explanation on behalf of

Fiona.

She hurriedly explained, “Ceci, don’t get me wrong. I heard that you fell from height alongside the murderer and just wanted to know if you were okay.”

“I jumped on purpose. There was an air cushion downstairs, so

“You’re way too bold, Ceci, but don’t do such a dangerous thing in the future. Accidents could happen.”

Yvette’s concern turned into a stream of warmth that flowed into Cecilia’s heart.

The latter’s tone became much gentler. “All right. How is your sister?”

Thinking of Fiona, who had just come out of the operating room, Yvette looked sad but didn’t express it.

“She has already come out of the operating room. Though she lost quite a lot of blood, it’s not life–threatening. Don’t worry, Ceci.”

As for the matter of Fiona being hurt, she deliberately didn’t bring it up.

Cecilia queried, “When will she wake up? I’ll go and see her when she does.

Although Cecilia wasn’t behind what happened to Fiona, the latter was ultimately implicated by the former.

“Perhaps tomorrow. I’ll call you by then,” replied Yvette ambiguously.

In actuality, the doctor had told her that Fiona would be able to wake up before night fell.

Cecilia could guess Yvette’s worry but didn’t point it out.
