Seeing Cecilia frown and think about something, Christopher said, “Ceci, tell the Shaw family what happened today.”

Cecilia understood what Christopher meant.

She said in a deep voice, “I won’t test the Shaw family. They have their reasons for not–telling me.”

She trusted the Shaw family 100 percent.

Because if it weren’t for the Shaw family, she wouldn’t be where she was now.

Christopher knew that Cecilia had misunderstood and

explained, “Ceci, I just think you should tell the people in the Shaw family. As for whether they want to say something to you, it’s their choice.”

Of course, he wanted the Shaw family to confess.

Thinking of Evan’s worry about her, Cecilia nodded and said, “I’m going to make a phone call in the lounge.”

Although she had been honest with Christopher, she hadn’t told anyone in the Shaw family. Naturally, she had to step aside to make the call.

“Go ahead. I have something to deal with too.”

After saying that, he cleaned up the leftovers on the coffee table and went out of the office.

Cecilia went to the lounge. The soundproofing was good, and the whole world became quiet.

She called Evan, but his phone had been turned off.

The sequence of numbers was disordered, bearing no resemblance to a typical phone number, yet the call connected successfully.

A magnetic and authoritative voice rang out. “Ceci.”

Cecilia immediately stood up straight in a standard military posture, with her left hand not holding the phone hanging on her side. Her middle finger was pressed against the seam of her trousers and she looked serious.

“Aiden.”

“It’s uncommon for you to call me on days other than New Year’s. What’s up?”

Aiden was the highest–ranking commander of the

Peacekeeping Forces. He had a lot to do every day and didn’t know what had happened to Cecilia these days.

He was relieved to have Evan look after Cecilia.

Cecilia secretly stuck out her tongue and said to herself, “Aiden, it’s not that I don’t want to call you. It’s just that you are too serious, and it’s stressful every time I call you.”

That was what she thought, but she said something else.

“Aiden, you are so busy that I dare not disturb you.”

Aiden knew that Cecilia was not telling the truth, but he didn’t say it because he knew Evan and Cecilia were afraid of him.

“Then why are you disturbing me today?”

He was sure that Cecilia would never call him if it wasn’t

urgent.

Upon hearing his teasing tone, Cecilia felt her tension noticeably ease.

“I can’t get in touch with Evan. His phone is off.”

Aiden knew that Evan wouldn’t turn off his phone 24 hours a day because there might be an emergency to deal with at any time.

“I’ll call his deputy general right now and get back to you later.” While speaking, he dialed the internal line and hung up on Cecilia.

The call was quickly connected. He asked, “Why is Commander Shaw’s phone off?”

Evan’s deputy general inimediately replied, “Commander Shaw was temporarily transferred to Quilton and just got on the plane.”

“Why did no one report such a big thing? Who’s taking his place?”

Even a simple phone call exerted immense pressure on the deputy general.-

“Commander Shaw has reported to his superior and I will temporarily take over his position.”

“Okay. Get on with your work.”

After hanging up the phone, Aiden called Evan’s superior.

Soon, he knew what had happened.

However, Evan’s superior was not privy to much information, as it had always been Evan who pursued the mastermind.

After the call, Aiden pressed his temples and frowned.

He couldn’t believe that he had missed such an important thing, so he immediately called Cecilia.

“Ceci, you shouldn’t have used yourself as bait. Don’t do this again in the future.”

He had lost a younger brother. He could not lose another sister.

Cecilia detected a profound undertone in Aiden’s words.

“Aiden, I’ll listen to you. It won’t happen again.”

Christopher had yet to come back. She lay down on the couch and closed her eyes to rest.

While she was half asleep, she heard the door open and opened her eyes.

Christopher came back with two tiny white balls in his hands.

He walked to the couch and handed the balls to Cecilia, who sat up. “These are the drugs you asked for.”

The ball served as a sealed container that, upon being opened, revealed a light blue capsule within.

After Cecilia was sure it was the illegal drug she wanted, she looked up and asked Christopher, “How are those two men now?”

If the time was right, they could be hypnotized.

Christopher looked at the tired Cecilia and pushed her back to the couch.

“Ceci, you know those people are tough and not so easy to destroy. You can have some rest first.”

Thinking that the hypnosis in a while would be extremely exhausting, Cecilia lay back on the couch.

She closed her eyes. Her long lashes cast a shadow beneath them.

“Call me when the time is right.”

Christopher replied, “All right. Go to the lounge and sleep. It’s more comfortable there.”

“Your arm wound hasn’t fully healed yet. You can use the lounge.”

After saying that, Cecilia turned her back to Christopher as if she was saying it was settled and no objections were allowed.

Christopher smiled and said, “The wound on my arm

reopened when I disarmed the bomb. Help me apply medicine. The medical kit is in the lounge.”

Hearing this, Cecilia got up and walked to the lounge.
