She found it rather amusing to see these people seething with anger and wanting to confront her, yet they hesitated to take action.
She tapped her own head and remarked, “You know, the brain is not just for decoration; you shouldn’t easily believe in hearsay.” Gordon helped Jackson to his feet and said through gritted teeth, “Cecilia, just because you refuse to admit it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!”
At the thought of Juliana’s pitiable state, Gordon felt a strong urge to end Cecilia.
As the person in the lead started speaking, it triggered another round of uproar within the crowd. However, this time, the crowd refrained from throwing eggs and lettuce and opted for insults instead.
They were cautious about using overly offensive language, well aware of Cecilia’s remarkable agility and her association with the richest man in Quilton. They didn’t want to provoke any retaliation.
“Cecilia, you can’t escape the reach of justice; your arrogance won’t last for long.”
“Reap what you sow; committing too many wrongs will surely result in retribution.”

When he saw that Cecilia had the audacity to mention Juliana, Gordon was consumed by anger and frustration. He raised his hand and intended to strike Cecilia across the face.

In the end, he had no choice but to turn to the police for help. “Cecilia is the prime suspect. Are you all going to do nothing and just let her walk free?”

Because he felt frustrated but unable to confront the police directly, Gordon decided to step back, saying, “I’m kind of emotional after I know what my daughter has endured. I apologize.”

When he realized that applying additional pressure on the police wouldn’t yield the desired results, Gordon decided to change his approach.
“Cecilia is the prime suspect in a serious crime. Are you all just going to stand by and do nothing?”
“Don’t worry. We will extend an invitation to Ms. Yancey to cooperate with our investigation.”
When he heard this, Gordon felt somewhat reassured but couldn’t resist shooting Cecilia a menacing glare. “Don’t get too comfortable. I’ll gather the evidence required to put you behind bars!”
Cecilia raised an eyebrow and retorted sarcastically, “Maybe you should save those words for Juliana. I’m sure she’d love to hear them.”
She then addressed the nearby journalists’ cameras with a carefully chosen statement, “I hope the online community will actively contribute to the search for evidence and bring the mastermind behind this crime to justice as soon as possible.” While her statement genuinely conveyed her desire for justice, some perceived it as arrogance, as if she considered herself above the law.

Onlookers continued to voice their anger and indignation at Cecilia’s perceived arrogance.
When he saw Cecilia’s arrogance, Jackson wiped the spittle from his face, broke free from his father’s support, and stood tall.
He seemed to believe that by standing taller than Cecilia would help him assert dominance over her.
With thoughts of Juliana’s hospital threat to end her life, he yearned to chew up all the bones of Cecilia and devour them!

“Mr. Jackson Yancey, as you search for evidence, don’t forget to apply for your commercial driver’s license and meet your obligations at the racing track, or I’ll see to it that they’re enforced,” Cecilia taunted before she turned to the police. “Let’s go. I’ll cooperate with the investigation.”
The police nodded and then turned his attention to the crowd.
“Gathering to cause trouble is against the law. Don’t assume the law won’t hold you accountable. Our detention cells at the police station are empty, meaning we can accommodate all of you. Disperse now, or you’ll face severe consequences in the future.”
The threat worked because it intimidated the more timid individuals who quickly lowered their heads and left quietly.

Aware that prolonging the scene would harm their cause, Gordon turned and left.
When they saw the person in the lead had left, they followed suit.
Cecilia halted the man, who had suffered a head injury caused by her. “You are suspected of intentionally causing harm; you can’t leave.”
The man was naïve. He thought that by throwing a stone at Cecilia, she would respond in kind by throwing a stone back at him, and that would be the extent of the conflict.
The man panicked briefly but swiftly regained his composure. He was convinced that Cecilia was trying to intimidate him.
At that moment, many people were throwing stones and eggs, and Cecilia was preoccupied. It was impossible that she could identify the individual who had thrown the stone at her.
Moreover, the entire lobby was crowded. Even with 360-degree surveillance cameras covering every angle, they wouldn’t be of much help.
His confidence surged suddenly. Not only did he deny his actions, but he also attempted to shift the blame.
“I had no intention of leaving. You injured my head
intentionally. I’ll hold you responsible. Either compensate me or face a lawsuit. It’s your choice!”
Cecilia regarded the man as if he were a complete fool with his forehead bleeding. “The brain is marvelous, but it appears you lack one.”
With that, she raised her hand and pointed behind the man, saying, “You forgot to wipe your fingerprints off that stone.”
