When the girl let out a cry, Cecilia had already pulled Yvette
away.
As the girl took a hard fall, the red wine in her hand splashed onto the pristine marble floor.
However, she couldn’t care less about the pain and hurriedly apologized, saying, “I didn’t do it on purpose. I’m sorry.”
Someone had just tripped her, but she did not have any proof and did not know who it was, so she did not dare to speak up.
Knowing the girl, Yvette was aware of her timidity and knew she would not intentionally spill wine.
She scanned the crowd but could not find anyone suspicious.
Hence, she stepped forward to help the girl up and deliberately said, “Next time, be more careful when you walk. Even if you fall, make sure to see who tripped you.”
As soon as those words were spoken, everyone looked at each other, eager to know who was responsible for the mischief.
However, everyone in the aristocratic circle was good at putting on an act, making it difficult to tell who was the one who did it.
Full of gratitude, the girl looked at Yvette and said, “Ms. Yates, thank you for believing in me. I will definitely keep my eyes open next time.”
Shortly after, the housekeepers from the Yates family quickly cleaned the floor.
Just as everyone thought the matter had ended there, Cecilia spoke up.
She looked at the most elegantly dressed girl in the room and asked, “Who are you? Have I offended you?”

Yvette followed Cecilia’s gaze and introduced the girl, saying, “Ceci, she is Tiffany Forte, Christopher’s niece.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she leaned in close to Cecilia’s ear and whispered, “But you do not need to show her any respect because Christopher has a bad relationship with her, and he even sent her father to prison.”
Cecilia had previously investigated Christopher and had a general understanding of the situation with the Forte family.
She nodded and said, “I know what to do.”
With that said, she had a housekeeper bring a glass of red wine. and, without saying anything, splashed it directly onto Tiffany Forte’s face.
Tiffany hadn’t expected Cecilia to take such direct action and was caught off guard.
The red wine splashed into her eyes, causing a burning sensation and igniting her temper instantly.
“Cecilia, are you out of your mind? You think you can act without manners just because you are from the countryside?”
Tiffany would not have been so subtle in her rebuke if she did not need to maintain her socialite image.
The sudden turn of events drew the attention of everyone in the living room.
Yvette’s mother, Selene Yates, hurried over and asked, “What’s going on here?”.
After saying that, she asked a housekeeper to take Tiffany somewhere else so she could wash up and put on clean clothes.
A guest should be treated with respect. Even though Selene disliked Tiffany, she could not simply ignore her.
However, Tiffany refused to leave and complained, “Mrs. Yates, Cecilia splashed wine on me for no reason. I need an explanation. The Forte family is not to be tritled with.”

Hearing that, Selene asked Cecilia amicably, “Ms. Yancey, would you kindly explain why you did this?”
Her tone made it abundantly clear that she was siding with Cecilia.
Cecilia handed the empty wine glass to a housekeeper and calmly explained, “Ms. Forte deliberately tripped someone and wanted to splash red wine on me. I was merely returning the favor.”
Tiffany quickly denied, “You are making baseless accusations!”
She had been discreet in her actions and had even avoided the surveillance cameras. Even if someone suspected her, there was no evidence.
At that moment, Cecilia’s gaze fell on Tiffany’s shoes.
The golden high-heeled sandals were adorned with tiny gemstones, shimmering in the light.
After inspecting the shoes, she shifted her gaze to the legs of the girl who had fallen.
The gemstones must have scraped against her skin because there were a few tiny red marks on her calf.
Even though the gemstones did not scratch her skin, the skincare product she had applied to her legs must have gotten onto the gemstones.
If she sent those to the lab for testing, she would get her answer quickly.
Everyone in the room stared at Cecilia, their gazes following her every movement.
It didn’t take long for them to understand what she was trying to convey.
Tiffany’s face darkened as she realized the gravity of the situation.

However, she refused to admit it and argued, “I did not trip anyone. It must be because I was standing too close and accidentally scraped her calf.”
Hearing that, Cecilia pointed to the surveillance camera and then to the girl.
“We will know when you approach her after we check the surveillance footage,” Cecilia said coldly.
Tiffany had ill intentions, but she was not very clever. Unable to come up with an excuse, she immediately panicked.
“I-I don’t know what happened.”
Cecilia was not an unreasonable person. After telling everyone the truth, she said, “Well, I will pretend you did not know. But, whether it was intentional or not, you must apologize.”
Tiffany bit her lip and reluctantly said to Cecilia, “I’m sorry.”
“And then?”
Cecilia looked in the direction of the girl, making her intentions clear.
Aggrieved, Tiffany shot a hostile glare at the girl.
“Tsk! Someone from such a small and insignificant family doesn’t deserve my apology!” she thought.
The timid girl, terrified of Tiffany, waved her hands in terror.
“Now that we know it was a misunderstanding, it’s fine. There’s no need for an apology.”
Hearing that, Tiffany glanced at Cecilia smugly.
Nevertheless, Cecilia’s gaze suddenly turned cold, and her presence became imposing.
“Apologize to her!”
Her voice was not loud, but it made Tiffany’s heart miss a beat, and the latter immediately caved in.

Initially, she intended to establish her dominance over Cecilia to embarrass Christopher.
After all, everyone in the upper-class circle knew that Cecilia was associated with him.
However, she never expected that her plan would backfire and that she would be the one humiliated.
When she realized that, she quickly made an excuse to change her clothes and hastily left with one of the Yates family’s housekeepers.
Yvette raised her fist as she watched Tiffany’s retreating figure.
Seeing that, her mother gave her a stern look and said, “Yvie, you’re the center of attention today. Please don’t make a scene.” After saying that, she chatted with the other guests and eased the tension in the room.
“Feel free to chat with each other. I’ll go attend to other guests,” she said before leaving.
After Selene left, many people approached Cecilia to show their support.
Nevertheless, Cecilia had a cold and aloof personality and wasn’t fond of socializing. After exchanging a few words with them, she found a quiet corner to sit in.
Yvette had originally stayed with her, but as more and more guests arrived, she had to go entertain them.
Finally finding an opportunity, Devon walked over and sat opposite Cecilia.
“Ms. Yancey, it must be boring to be alone. Let me keep you company.”
Cecilia gave Devon an indifferent glance and said, “Mr. Langdon, please stay away from me. Pestering a woman is a despicable act.”

The smile on Devon’s face froze, but he resisted the urge to leave.

Cecilia furrowed her brows and picked up a fork from the cake plate, jabbing it into the gap between Devon’s fingers.
“Get lost!”
Devon swallowed hard as he felt the metal fork’s coldness.
Cecilia was the most charismatic girl Devon had ever seen, and he was enthralled.
Even though he was scared to death, he didn’t leave.
“I really like you. Even if you drive me away, you have captivated my heart.”
Devon’s disgusting remarks made Cecilia want to stab his mouth with the fork.
Fortunately for Devon, that day was Yvette’s birthday, and she did not want to ruin it. As a result, she resisted.
Just as she was about to walk away from Devon, Christopher walked over.
He grabbed the back of Devon’s collar, lifted him out of his chair, and threw him to the ground.
“If you bother Cecilia again, I am going to cri*ple you!”
Devon didn’t dare confront Christopher directly and quickly got up, slinking away into the crowd.
When Christopher was about to speak with Cecilia, Yvette hurried over.
“Ceci, the surprise I prepared for you is ready,” she said as she dragged Cecilia away.
