- Season 1 Episode 18 - Standing by My Wife’s Side
Unexpectedly, Gwyneth bumped into Judy just around the corner. What a small world,‘ she thought.
Judy probably had not expected to run into Gwyneth either, and the anger from the competition immediately resurfaced. “Gwyneth! What is the meaning of this? Did you know I was competing and deliberately set me up in front of all those people?” Her emotions surged, and she took a step forward. “You divorced Liam, and now you’re jealous? Are you trying to humiliate me in front of him?”
These accusatory questions left Gwyneth at a loss for words. She did not know how to respond when Judy added drama to the situation. and even displayed hints of paranoia. Gwyneth sighed helplessly, thinking to herself. ‘If I can’t confront it head–on, I might as well dodge. the bullet.‘ As she turned to leave. Judy grabbed her arm, her eyes filled with tears, but she was looking past Gwyneth.
“Liam, come and settle this. Running into my sister was a coincidence, but she just won’t let it go and is even bullying me.”
As Gwyneth sensed the man’s approach from behind, her dislike for troubles grew stronger, and she became increasingly annoyed by the seemingly endless drama. Seeing Judy’s insincere sobbing only fueled her irritation. Effortlessly, Gwyneth countered Judy’s grasp, seizing
her wrist and causing her to tumble to the ground.
“Yes, I’m bullying you.” Gwyneth declared. 1
In the blink of an eye. Judy found herself lying on the floor, her mind in a daze. She could not even understand what had just happened.
Looking up at Gwyneth, who towered over her, her face flushed with anger.
“Gwyneth! What are you doing?”
“Didn’t you tell Liam I was bullying you? I’m just living up to your words; otherwise, it would be a disservice to you,” Gwyneth said,
standing tall, arms crossed and smiling.
Liam’s eyes seemed to be fixed solely on Gwyneth, a smile on his lips as he watched her assertive demeanor. Annoyed and on the verge
of lears, Judy called her out, “Liam!” Only then did he spare her a casual glance. “How old are you? Losing a competition, sitting on the
ground, squabbling, and being petty with your sister. Is it not disgraceful enough? Do you need your sister to give you candy to placate
you?”
These words were even more sarcastic and painful to Judy than Gwyneth’s slap. Biting her lip, her eyes instantly filled with tears.”
Gwyneth, you! You just wait!” Judy hurriedly scrambled up from the ground and quickly walked away, fearing that even more people would
see her humiliation.

When the hallway was finally empty, save for the two of them, Gwyneth tumed to look at Liam, a faint smile still lingering on her lips. “Why
did you help me?”
“No matter what happens, I should stand by my wife’s side.”
Gwyneth inwardly scoffed at his smooth–talking ways, thinking. ‘This man is becoming increasingly shameless.”
‘Let’s go.” Liam took Gwyneth’s hand.
“What are you doing?”
“Were you not planning to return? Or were you trying to sneak away without me knowing?” Liam narrowed his eyes slightly, his imposing
aura sweeping toward Gwyneth.
“I… I was not…” she instinctively defended herself.
“Since you weren’t, let’s go.” Liam assertively pulled Gwyneth along, striding forward. ‘I didn’t misread her earlier. This cunning woman
was actually trying to escape secretly.” Liam thought, a smirk on his face. “How could I let her succeed?”
By the time Gwyneth fully registered what had happened, they were already seated in the first–class cabin. But ever since boarding the plane, she had been engrossed in a book, doing her best to ignore the man beside her.
“What are you reading?”
“A book.” Gwyneth had no desire to engage with the sly man.
Unfazed, Liam moved even closer to Gwyneth. His posture radiated immense curiosity, eager to know the book’s contents.
“Mr. Luther, are you familiar with the concept of personal space? Do you think this is…?” Gwyneth said, abruptly snapping the book shut.
As she turned her head, intending to reason with Liam, her lips unexpectedly met something soft.
