THE MERMAID PRINCESS - EPISODE 2

Melody’s POV

When I woke up this morning, my lips felt really dry and my sides were aching,and once again I was craving salt so I jumped off my bed,
 ran down the stairs and grabbed a tin of salt bringing it back up the flight of stairs with me.

I changed out of my hello kitty pjs replacing it with my bathing suit and a pair of shorts, 
then I grabbed my bag pack and filled it with a towel, a hoodie and a t -shirt that said I love swimming.

After everything was packed I proceeded back down the flight of stairs and made my way out the front door.

When I arrived at the beach I pulled off my shorts and took my usual morning swim but this morning I felt another pair of eyes watching me.

 AGAIN! First yesterday and now today. Well, I’ll take that as my cue to leave.

And with that being said, I made my way out of the water. I grabbed my towel and dried my wet hair with pink highlights.

 ‘WAIT! PINK HIGHLIGHTS! Are my eyes deceiving me.’

Okay Melody, calm down its probably nothing too serious.
 I pulled back on my shorts and hoodie and went back home, when I reached back home I decided that I should probably ask grandpa, maybe he knew what was happening to me.

“Hey grandpa, where are you” I yelled out
“In the kitchen— making waffles” he replied back while I walked into the kitchen.

“Grandpa, has anything weird happened to you before?” I asked him seriously.
“It depends, weird like wow or weird like WOW or weird like wooow.” He said
“Weird like this” and with that being said I pulled off my hoodie and showed him my pink highlights.

“Woah! You dyed your hair”

“No, this just happened a while ago when I went for a swim and I don’t know why.””I think I known why.”
“You do?”

“Yeah I told you how you first came to me right?”
“Yea after my parents died when I was a baby”

“Well your father use to love telling stories so when he told me he had fallen in love and married a mermaid, 
I thought it was just another one of the stories. “So I guess what I’m saying is that you’re a mermaid Melody.”

 He told me and by the look in his eyes, I knew he was dead serious.

“Are you okay sweetie?” He asked
I’m fine, but you’ve had way to many mega nasty wipeouts” I told him whilst turning on my heels and walked back out the door with him calling my name.

 I dialed my best friends number and she answered on the first ring.

‘Hey girl what’s up’

‘Hey Ariel can you meet me down at the beach I need a major reality check.’
‘Sure, see you in five’

“So that’s what he told me ” I said telling her what grandpa had told me a while ago.

 At first she didn’t respond so I assumed that she was still processing what I had just told her. 

When the information finally sunk in, she jumped up and down squealing.
“Omg my best friend’s a mermaid, this is awesome I told you so but you didn’t believe me I was right, you were wrong.

” She replied happily while I just stared at her.
“Don’t tell me you believe in this too, I thought you were going to talk to me out of this crazy ness.”

 I said with a sigh”Mels relax it’s okay I’ll check it out online” she told me reassuringly whilst grabbing her phone and checking the internet.
“Okay so mermaidia . com stated that around the age of 16, mermaids often go through various changes like longer or different coloured hair, that proves it.”

 She told me still jumping up and down.

“Yeah it proves that you can make up anything and put it on the internet.
“I replied with a smirk”Fine don’t believe me but when you sprout a tail I’m saying I told you so” she said seriously so I decided to change the topic.
“Race ya to the water” I said taking off”Hey that’s not fair you got a head start” she whined.

 I got into the water and felt like it was pulling at me to come under so I swam further underneath the water and suddenly I was able to breathe.
“I can breathe underwater” I said to no one in particular since I was still underwater.

“There’s a reason for that” someone replied.
“Who said that?” I asked but no one replied. I swam back up to the shore where Ariel was waiting for me.

“Let’s go home i have something-“but I was stopped mid sentence by an unbearable pain in my side.

“Melody? Are you okay ?” That was the last thing I heard until my entire world went black.
