THE ISLAND WOLF - EPISODE 57
They were not taken to the empty room they woke up in, but to a new room with sofas and a coffee table. The men untied their hands and left them there. The room had no windows so, there was no way of escape except through the door. And something told Avril that the men did not leave entirely but were standing by the door.
She sat down almost immediately, and placed her hands on her chest, right over her heart. It was pounding hard like it wanted to escape her body.
“God,” she muttered and bent her head. She placed her hands in her hair and closed her eyes. What had she just seen? Was it truly Dakar? Oh, she wasn’t stupid. She knew him well. She knew those eyes well. But what happened to him? He didn’t even move a toe when he set eyes on her. What about that woman? Obviously, she wasn’t his sister. She was something more. And the way she sat and held his hand had so much authority. Like, she was next to him. Had he gotten married?
“No…no,” she cried and covered her face.
“Avril?” Nana called and they ran to her. They had been at the other end of the room, looking at the engravings on the wall.
“Avril, what’s happening?” Xiào Wéi asked with panic in her voice. Avril was crying and she wouldn’t reply them.
“Avril, stop crying. Is this about Alejandro?” Chidi asked and Avril cried louder.
“Sh!t. This is about Alejandro,” Chidi muttered and pulled Avril into embrace.
“It’s okay. Come here. Everything will be all right, okay,” she pacified her. Xiào Wéi took her right hand and rubbed her palm soothingly.
“Don’t worry, we’ll scale through this together,” Nana said.
Avril heaved a deep sigh and pulled away from the embrace with Chidi. She wiped her tears and looked at the door. If truly the guards were there, then she couldn’t tell her friends the real reason she was crying. Dakar had been on the throne, he had made mention of “Alpha”. That could only mean that they were in Remus. The Kingdom of Remus were Dakar was Prince. He had told her Remus had founded Rome with his brother, Romulus. So, the Kingdom of Remus was still in Italy but hidden.
If truly they were in Remus, then everyone was a wolf. If everyone was a wolf, then they had wolf hearing; which meant she could not tell her friends that was Dakar, her island wolf. Or else, the guards would hear and who knows, that could breed another trouble for her.
So, those men they met in the woods were wolves. That explained why one of them heard Nana’s whisper and looked in their direction. And the wolves must have released their wolf waves against them, which is why they screamed in pain and blacked out. Dakar had accidentally released his on her back at the island.
“Girls, thanks,” she mumbled and smiled at them.
“Be strong, okay. We’ll pull through this,” Chidi stated and rubbed her cheek. She nodded and sighed, then stared at the door.
“Are you guys hungry?” she whispered.
“Of course, we are. We don’t even know how long they kept us here,” Nana whispered back.
“Can we get some food and water? We’re losing so much weight already and getting so unattractive,” Avril said in a normal voice.
“They can’t hear you. Maybe we should bang on the door,” Chidi stated and got on her feet to walk to the door. But it opened at that instance and the guard stated at them.
“Food is on its way. My colleague just left to get it. Be patient,” he stated.
“Wait, how did you know we wanted food?” Chidi who was standing closer to him asked.
“I heard you say you were hungry. Didn’t one of you just say you were hungry?” he asked. Though, it was more like he was telling them and not asking.
“You heard that?” Nana asked with surprise. He looked at her with an expressionless face.
“Your food will be ready soon,” he repeated and turned to leave.
“Wait! Please,” Avril spoke up and he turned back to face her.
“My friend here, cannot speak or hear but she manages to write. We need to communicate with her. She seems sick but we don’t know for sure except we talk to her,” she stated and all her friends made funny faces at her.
“Please, can we get a pen and paper?”
“Very well, then. I shall return with a pen and paper,” the guard said and finally left.
“What was that—” Chidi was about to ask but Avril placed her index finger across her lips, signifying for her to shut up. She waved at her to sit down and Chidi did.
The door opened and the guard returned with a book and a pen.
“Wow, you’re fast, ” Nana cooed as Avril received the paper.
“Thank you,” Avril appreciated and waited for him to leave. He left and she hurriedly wrote something down in the middle page of the book, so no one will find it at first glance.
She gave it to Chidi and told the girls to shift towards her and read it in their minds.
They read it and looked at her with horror written on their foreheads.
“Wolves?” Nana mouthed without a sound. Her eyes were wide open. Avril nodded and took the paper again. She wrote “This is the Kingdom of Remus. That man on the throne is Dakar. But he doesn’t recognize me.”

They read it and stared back at her, this time with eyes filled with surprise and confusion.
“Why?” Chidi asked aloud.
“I don’t know. I didn’t even know he left that place. It’s been two years but still…” she trailed off and sighed.
“How sure are you he’s the one?”
“I don’t know who I fell in love with?”
“And you’re sure these…” Nana wanted to ask but she stopped after Avril motioned to the book. Nana took the pen from her and wrote down the words, “and you’re sure these people are werewolves?”

Avril read it and took the pen back. She wrote, “Yes. That explains the apt hearing, the speed at which he brought the paper and why we fell in the woods. They made us fall and lose consciousness.”
The girls were so surprised. And even more surprised when Avril wrote that Dakar did not act like he knew her at all. They were standing there, and still did not detect that the man in the throne was Avril’s Dakar. He had not shown any emotions at all.
“Do you think he remembers me?” she had asked.
“We don’t know. That place might have done a lot to him while you were away,” Chidi answered in a way no one would know what they were talking about. The door opened and two beautiful tan women walked in with two baskets. They wore a short moleskin skirt and crop top. Their hair was in two braids and looked cute on them.
“Your food,” one of them announced and they dropped them on the coffee table. They left immediately.
Avril and her friends ate that instant because they were very hungry.

“My Prince,” Ñiraka drawled and ran her hands over Prince Dakar’s bare chest. He exhaled and stared at her.
“I have to be alone, Ñiraka,” he sounded and she pouted and hugged his huge figure.
“My Prince, I have missed you. Please, let me stay with you.”
Prince Dakar pulled her away from his body and walked back. He looked her over and walked to his closet. He was about to wear a t-shirt when Camper entered.
“Dakar, Alpha arrived few minutes ago and he demanded that you be around for the auction,” he announced. Dakar sighed softly and went back to wear his regalia. He hated the auctions the pack usually held every five years. He had never been a party to kidnapping humans and trading them amongst greedy wolves.
“I’ll accompany you again, my Prince,” Ñiraka said. He didn’t even answer her as he pulled on his animal skin robe. He hung his wolf teeth necklace over his neck and let down his hair. His tattoo was visible a little, because the robe did not cover his body fully. It was sleeveless and didn’t even cover the full chest. Ñiraka locked her arms with his and they walked out, with Camper ahead of them. They walked until they reached the palace hall. As they were about to enter in fully, some guards walked out from afar, with the Avril and the girls for the auction. Each one of them was bound by a rope over their hands.
“Man! These girls are hot. When I first saw them earlier today, I immediately took interest in that short but curvy one. Oh, the girl at the front. The one with wavy long hair. She seems tough. She asked me questions when others in her shoes would be terrified to tears,” Camper spoke when no one asked him anything.
“Hmm,” Prince Dakar grunted as he looked at the girls that were being led in through the front door. He was going to walk through the back door. He entered and got into the room demarcated with a dome from the palace hall.
“Father,” Prince Dakar grumbled.
“Hmmm. I half expected you wouldn’t come,” Alpha said to him as he took his seat beside him. Ñiraka sat at his feet and placed her hands on his thighs.
“I had to.”
“I wanted you to have a woman from one of them, but I remembered you weren’t a fan of our little fun. You don’t like the practice of trading humans,” his father stated.
“Alpha, Prince Dakar is more than okay with the women he has at the moment. He will not be taking anymore, according to what he told me,” Ñiraka said with a smile and kissed Prince Dakar’s hand. Camper was standing beside him and looking ahead at the people who appeared to be moving towards them across the hall.
Few minutes later and the women were standing in front of the alpha, with their heads bowed. The black girls, Nana and Chidi, were taken first by two noblemen for farm girls. The Asian, Xiào Wéi, was taken to work in a mill for another nobleman. Avril was very happy when she realized they were not being used as sex slaves. Her eyes kept glancing at Dakar and Ñiraka took note of that. She glared at Avril and trust Avril, she glared back. Ñiraka instantly disliked her and was so glad when the man who offered to buy her, wanted to make her a sex slave.
“She will warm my bed. I love a feisty one,” the nobleman smirked and chuckled as he walked towards Avril.
“How much for you?” he asked her like she was the one who knew the amount.
“She’s off the books,” Dakar’s voice rang and they all looked at him.
“Father, can I take her as my newest concubine? Or should I buy her?” he asked and Ñiraka’s mouth fell open. She looked at Avril whose face held the same surprise. So, this new woman was going to be Dakar’s woman too?
