THE ISLAND WOLF - EPISODE 46
“I don’t believe you,” Avril said and stared up Alejandro.
“You arrived here twenty-four hours ago and already arguing about something I was born into. Cool,” he mused and turned around again. Avril peered at the tattoo that occupied most of his leg, right at the stamina. It really looked like a wolf to her, or was it truly a dog?
“What kind of dog?” she asked as he turned around with a little towel in his hand. He flung it unto his shoulder then walked to the sink to wash his hands.
“A pitbull. Does it have any resemblance to a wolf?” he asked in return.
“Not really. But why the symbol of a sleeping dog? Any significance?”
He walked back to the tub, squatted beside it again and dipped the towel in the water. He squeezed it a little and brought it to Avril’s eye. He dabbed on it and placed it there for a few seconds for the heat to sink in. Since the water was not totally hot, it didn’t hurt her much. He put the towel back in and let it soak properly.
“Try poking a sleeping pitbull in the eye, or even any part of their body,” he answered.
“That’s suicide. They’re very aggressive and strong,” Avril said.
“Good. The Lucien Brothers are sleeping pitbulls. Only those on a death list poke us,” he squeezed the towel again and brought it to her face. He dabbed her nose and she winced. He stopped and looked at her eyes.
“What?” she asked.
“Did you say you woke up this night? But you entered the shop in the afternoon?” he asked and she nodded.
“Do you feel pain anywhere else? We have to be sure they did not do anything stupid while you were unconscious,” he stated and Avril gulped down painfully.
“I… I don’t know. I don’t remember any other pain except my legs,” she replied thoughtfully.
“Your legs?” he dipped the towel in again but this time, did not squeeze it. He placed it on her shoulder and rubbed it down.
“Yes. Where I was tied. I don’t think they touched me. It seems they wanted me to be awake to witness it. Only one person was even waiting in the room for me to wake up,” Avril explained.
“How many of them?”
“Four. Two men, and two women.”
Alejandro massaged her neck without a further word. He cleaned off all the blood, including the one on her hands from the people she stabbed. He drained the water and let in fresh one again. It was the same temperature as before, but he added liquid antiseptic soap to make it foam.
“When you’re done, don’t come out by yourself. Just call me. Or better still, I’ll be back in ten minutes. Be done by then,” he said and grabbed his jacket in his arm.
“Where are you going?”
“To bite the ones who poked me while I was asleep,” he answered and left the bathroom.

Ñiraka smiled as she gazed into the mirror. She was looking so beautiful and sexy, Dakar would never resist her. She was more than happy when he appointed her as his Royal Concubine. That position was next to the wife and had respect attached to it. Other concubines, even the ones of the king would respect her. She could enter into the Prince’s Chambers without being called and could sit beside him in high places. In conclusion, she was a wife to be.
“My lady, your package is ready,” a maiden of hers said from behind her. She turned around and smiled.
“How do I look?” she asked.
“So beautiful, my lady,” another maiden answered. They were three standing beside the table where a small box was sitting. The maidens wore the palace uniform; a dark red dress of knee-length with white lace running from the top of the right shoulder, to the top of the left leg. That was the official maidens uniform on days that there were no festivities. The Remusian wolves had rich culture despite being very modern too. They wore modern day dresses like normal humans of the twenty-first century, except on days of traditional events. Then, they would wear their animal skin clothes and beads.
“I am going to miss my room. I can’t believe I’ll be sleeping every single night at the palace now,” Ñiraka mused and turned around to take one final view of her medium sized room. It was a normal room, with a normal sized bed and white floors.
“My lady, your father is waiting for you,” the first maid spoke. Ñiraka smiled and walked out of the room, with the maidens holding the box behind her. They walked down a flight of wood painted stairs and arrived at the large modern day living room. Nobleman Adolphus was standing by the door, twirling a car key in his hand and appeared to be in deep thought. He was a member of the court of the king, and younger brother to the beta, Marcus. Marcus was second in command in the pack, after the Alpha.
“Daddy,” Ñiraka giggled and ran to hug Adolphus. He snapped back to reality and hugged her back.
“My baby girl making me proud,” he praised after they disengaged from the hug. He looked at her with pride in his eyes. Now, he was one step closer to being one of the most respected wolves in the pack. He had always lived under the shadow of his brother, Marcus. He was always referred to as Beta’s brother. Always addressed after Marcus was, to the extent people rarely remembered his name. But if only Ñiraka could be Prince Dakar’s wife, he would be respected more. When Prince Dakar becomes Alpha and King of Remus, his daughter would be Luna. He, Nobleman Adolphus would get a name for himself and not living by his brother’s name. It was better to be referred to as Luna’s father, than Beta’s brother.
“Make sure you rise to being Luna. Make me proud,” he said and shook her shoulders.
“Yes, daddy. I will be Luna very soon,” she said and they hugged again.
He took her in his car to the palace and watched her as she walked into the Prince’s Chambers. He was so proud.

Ñiraka was supposed to go straight to her own quarters according to the palace guards that were waiting for them. But she wanted to exercise her new rights, so she went to Prince Dakar’s quarters. She entered in alone with the box of wine in her hand and traced his scent up to his room. She went up the stairs and arrived at the front of his door. She knocked and he grunted an answer. She could hear him clearly despite how low he was.
Ñiraka entered and fixed a smile on her face.
“My prince,” she called. He was sitting at his table, scribbling away in his diary. He didn’t stop to even look back at her.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“I just arrived. So I thought to come see you first,” she answered and began to walk towards him.
“Exercising your new rights, I see,” he stated and she chuckled. She reached him and placed a hand on his bare shoulder, he was wearing a sleeveless vest.
“I brought a bottle of wine for you. From my father’s cellar. He made this a very long time ago and said I should give it to you,” she rubbed his skin and touched his hair. He was not on a ponytail this time.
Prince Dakar grunted and shut his book. He looked up at her and then at the box in her hand.
“I will make sure to thank him when next I see him then,” he stated and got on his feet. He walked past her to his bed and took a shirt he had casually flung there earlier. Ñiraka watched as he wore the shirt. She had missed him so much. Missed his masculine touch and wished he could take her right there. She had not found her mate, and Prince Dakar was mateless too. She therefore had high hopes of being his alternate mate.
“You can leave the wine at my nightstand. I’m going off to town with Camper,” he said and headed to the door.
“But my Prince, I just—”
“Come on, Ñiraka. I’ll be locking my front door,” he cut in and she exhaled through her mouth in defeat. She wasn’t getting laid that afternoon.
She dropped the wine and headed out of the room with him.

Avril was having a late dinner in the dinning room of Alejandro’s floor when she heard voices. She stopped eating and strained her neck to see who it was that was walking through the hallway.
“Avril?” came Chidi’s voice.
“Chidi,” Avril called back and got on her feet to meet them. She only took two steps before they entered with the Chinese girl from the ship. Avril squealed and hugged her. The girl was even more excited.
“Oh my God! You’re here? I didn’t know,” Avril chimed.
“I am,” the girl answered. Avril gasped in surprise.
“You speak English now?”
“Yes. Not perfectly, though. A kind Chinese man here taught me,” she said.
“In return for her arse,” Nana cut in and Chidi glared at her.
“What? Everyone here asks for arse or your life. Which is easier?” Nana retorted and Chidi rolled her eyes.
“Avril, how are you? You look terrible,” Chidi asked. Nana sat down and began to eat Avril’s food.
“That is what she gets for being so stubborn. I feel like smacking your forehead. Babe, you went strolling around in Tijuana? What do you think this place is? The Maldives?”
“Nana, take it easy on her. She just received a beating,” the Chinese girl said.
“And almost got raped by a bunch of fetish people,” Avril added and sat down.
“What!?” Chidi exclaimed.
“Long story. I don’t even want to talk about it,” she sighed.
“Just describe the people. We might know them,” Nana pleaded.
“There was a blue haired man and blue haired woman. With two more pe—”
“Sam!” the three ladies screamed.
“Huh?”
“Sam and his friends. Those psychos love to derive pleasure from people. They don’t rape only women, even men too. They’re bisexual,” Nana explained.
“They… They wanted me to be awake first.”
“Yeah. They love the screams from their victims,” Chidi stated.
Avril heaved a sigh and rested her head on the chair.
“Xiào wēi,” Nana called to the Chinese girl.
“Don’t call my name,” she retorted with a frown. Chidi and Nana laughed but Avril was confused.
“Why are you laughing?” she asked.
“She had first class experience with them. She hates them so much,” Nana answered.
“I do hope Alejandro drives a drill through their arseholes,” Xiào Wēi gritted and closed her palm. The girls laughed again and Avril smiled only.
“I hope you won’t go running around tomorrow without the ring? Have you figured out you would have escaped all these if you had that ring?” Nana asked.
“I realize my mistake. No need nagging me, Nana.”
A gunshot rang through the air and only Avril startled. The rest just sat like it was a bird that sang its song.
“What’s happening?” Avril asked. Double shots rang again, then screams from men. This time, the girls reacted.
“Could it be—?” Chidi asked.
“Them. It’s them. Let’s go,” Xiào Wēi said excited and they all jumped up and ran into the hallway. All but Avril who couldn’t walk without wincing. She trailed carefully after the excited girls, to see what would happen to the people who poked Alejandro while he was asleep.
