Hampson’s Mansion

Mrs Uyah was quiet worried. It’s past dinner time and Chidinma hasn’t returned. This will make hampson starts suspecting.

Nonso strode down the stairs into the living room and turned on the TV which occupied the whole wall. He picked the control and slumped into the couch,his feet up while changing the channels.

“Where’s Olive?”
“Mum,you said what?”
“Olive?”
“Ohh she’s revising her manuscript for tomorrow”
“Okay,did you call Chidinma?”
“Yes,she won’t be coming home”.

“Rema is travelling to Vietnam tomorrow,I guess she wants to be with him–

Nonso kept quiet as soon as he heard his dad’s footsteps coming. Mrs Uyah also maintained an innocent look as if she wasn’t discussing with him.

Mr hampson maintained a cheerful look as he descend down the stairs.
“Talk about it honey” Mrs hampson said.
“The procurement contract was awarded to me”
“Oh my goodness,it’s a goodnews”

Mrs Uyah pecked her husband. Nonso coughed playfully.
“Come on,son”
Nonso smiled and walked closer.
“Congratulations to you dad” he said as they bumped knuckles together.

“My luck came after yours, you and Chidinma are a blessing to me. I know am a dulard that’s why am blessed with you two” hampson boasted as he pats Nonso’s hair.
“You can always tell Dad what you want okay”

Nonso smiled abd whispered into his ears. Hampson nodded and typed into his tablet while Nonso watched his show.

Mr hampson answered some texts and finally sat opposite nonso. He skeptically checked time on his phone,his mind went to Philip instantly. He had missed his calls earlier.

“Call me Chidinma” he told nonso.
Nonso knitted his brows.
“She’s sleeping”
“Wake her up,she is seriously daring me. She doesn’t listen to me anymore”

“Okay, Dad” Nonso pressed his lips together and walked upstairs. He came back minutes later.
“Where’s she?”
“Well…” Nonso rubbed the back of his neck.
“I just asked a question”
“She’s not yet back”
“By this time and she didn’t see Philip. Honey you’re quiet that means you know where she went”

“Why should I be worried? She’s not a baby,she knows what she wants. She can meet whoever she wants so it’s not my business” Mrs hampson replied like no one’s business.

Hampson sighed,angrily.”I see you’re chidinma’s backbone. Okay,I understand”
He dialed Thompson’s number as he walked out to receive the call.

“Thompson”
“Congrats on your newly awarded contract,I was about calling you”
“Yeah, thanks”
“Your daughter didn’t meet,she had came with her boyfriend according to Philip”

Hampson knitted his brows,he was astonished.
“Look, Thompson am sorry about her behavior.”

“(Smiles) no problem, Philip still said he will wait for her but she have to be fast about it”.
“Okay,bye”
Hampson dropped the call.

Meanwhile chidinma was in the shower bathing.
Rema was busy speaking with his board of directors on the surveillance in his classical furnished bedroom when her phone interrupted him once again.

He picked her phone and was quiet happy when he saw it was her dad. He has been so excited to meet him just that Chidinma prevented them from meeting.

“Meeting dismissed. Bethel will fill you on more information” Rema said and disconnected the gadgets then he picked the phone.
He greeted politely.

Mrs hampson got more angry the moment he heard a male voice.
“Who are you and why do you have my daughter’s phone?” He yelled, icily.

Rema blinked his lashes,he always does that each time he’s surprised at ones attitude. He doesn’t know who the man is and the man also didn’t know who he is speaking to. At least there should be some level of respect. Even if he doesn’t want him and chidinma’s together, there should be some level of respect.

Rema isn’t a guy that tolerate disrespect. Even a new born baby deserves some little level of respect. Hampson yelled at him once again and he couldn’t take it anymore.

“With due respect sir,do you know who you’re talking to?” He cornered his brows.

“I don’t care to know who you are! My daughter always listens to my every order and I guess you are the one making her to take wrong steps”.
“She’s engaged already! Break every bonds with her”

“You should learn how to speak to people you don’t know. Bye” Rema hung up and threw the phone to the bed angrily.

*He hung up one! Hampson said, angrily.

He walked in.

Nonso already sensed what was on but he pretended as if he doesn’t know what was on abd directed his gaze back to the show he was watching.

The show switched to a short gossip news on celebrities. A commercial branch screened. Many cars were parked outside but the area didn’t look busy.
Fans and reporters filled the area soon, expecting to see their favorite celebrities.

Just then,someone walked out wearing a black mask. He packed his hair directly behind and wore a black hat. He walked very fast trying to rush into the commercials. without stress, nonso recognized that it was DREMA.

He called his name out “Rema”.
Mr hampson who was busy with somethings turned to the screen.

“You know him?” He asked.
“Yes. He is the reason why those people came there and he’s trying to sneak in. He has too much crazy fans that it’s difficult for him to act as a normal person”.

“Seems you like him too much for you to recognize him without stress”.

“Yes,he’s my role model” Nonso replied.
“It looks like you still don’t have a role model. Go to bed” mr hampson replied.
“What!!! Nonso gasped and left the living room in a haste. He has never seen his father so angry before,just right now at the sight of Rema,he looked so pained.

Chidinma noticed rema looked so worried. She tried her towel in a knot and walked to him. She hugged him from behind,wrapping her hands on her waist.
