THE CROWN - EPISODE 18
I ran out to my chamber, I stood in the middle of the room breathing hard with my hand on my chest.
What.. What was that about? I sat on the bed, I have never seen a man like that before.
Why do I feel this way?.
..
He’s my husband and it’s not wrong.. is it right either?
I can’t seem to get the sight out of my head, ou!.
I touched my forehead and I was sweating profusely.. in this cold weather? I should shower.
Wait! That means I will have to go back to his Chamber.. no way.
I left and went to the maids quarter
“Greetings My Princess”
“Your Highness”
The few maids bowed
“Where’s Ngozi?” I asked
“We haven’t seen her your highness”
I nodded and left.
I will have to go to the stream alone.
That will be even more fun and private.
Or should I go invite Mmesoma? Nevermind.. sometimes I need my personal space.
I looked around trying to sneak out without guards or anyone seeing me. I ran quickly till I was far from the palace.
“Good day your highness”
a young man greeted and passed.
I welcomed several other greetings till I finally got to the stream.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around my body from the silent breeze blowing.
I walked down the hill to the water and slowly walked in deeper without taking off anything from my body.
My mind flashed to the first day I met Emenike and how he saved my life here in this water. I smiled sadly
“How did things get this sour?”
I questioned no one in particular.
“Because you picked my brother over me” I
Heard from behind.
I turned and it was him.
He held his hands at his back and made his broad chest more obvious.
I stared at him likewise him.
He walked slowly into the water and got to me, I turned again to my right side to come face-to-face with him.
“What are you doing here?”
“Have you forgotten so soon? This is my favorite quietness” he replied.
I said nothing
“We met here all the time, if I’m not mistaken.. ”
He moved closer to me
“You’ve come here alone purposely to be with me just like old times”
He said huskily that it disgusted me.
“Stay away from me, I have not come here to be with you or anyone” I fired at him.
I was starting to get irritated or rather scared at the look in his eyes. It had so much desire.. hot desires.
I turned to swim out but he pinned my waist, I gasped at his grip
“What are you doing? Don’t hold me like that. Let go of me” I struggled yelling at me…
I stopped struggling
“That’s more like it, just be with me.. I can’t hurt you” he said huskily caressing my face slowly.
My chest touching, the water soaked against my skin made me shiver in his hands.
I was uncomfortable and scared at his sudden quest for me.
It felt rather dangerous to me. I needed to think of a more safe way to end all this amicably.
“I love you so much, don’t you see how much I do? Fight with me for our love”
He said
“But I’m married to your brother” I said calmly
“You do not have his seed in you, let’s go far from here”
His nose touched mine, his breathe all over me warming the cool breeze of the stream.
I quivered at every touch, it wasn’t right. Everything about it felt wrong
I closed my eyes tightly and turned my face away from him
“Stop, this is wrong”
His grip on me tightened as I felt his lips on my shoulder.
Tears streamed down my cheeks, it was humiliating and harassing.
“Stop please!” I pleaded like I was almost helpless.
“I know you want this too”
He blew into my neck.
He stopped and I opened my eyes quickly when we heard noise.
“Who is there?!!” He yelled.
Was someone here? Realization hit me.. his hands left me and I quickly left the water.
I took on my eyes crying and running back to the palace.
I was never this humiliated as my father’s daughter but I’ve been harassed even as a crowned Princess.
What if someone saw all that? What will be my fate? My parents, the embarrassment.

“Stop there!!”
A voice yelled loudly.
I stopped and raised my head, I was in the palace standing opposite the King’s throne Chamber.
I looked and the Queen and even Ikenna were present. Ngozi and Ebuka were on the floor.
I quickly wiped my tears and walked in, I bowed to greet
“Your high….”
“Where are you coming from?!!”
The King shouted cutting my greetings short. I flinched at his voice, it read anger.
I glanced at the Queen and the calmness in her eyes wasn’t there. The King dismissed the guards and maids around
“I’m.. I’m coming.. I’m”
I stammered
“SPEAK!”
I flinched
“From the stream my King,I’m coming from the stream”
I replied sharply.
“Without your maid and guard?”
“I wanted to be alone my King”
“With Prince Emenike or by yourself”
The Queen chipped in
I looked down. What do I tell them if indeed the drama at the Stream with Emenike has gotten to them.
“Are you deaf? I asked you a question”
The Queen asked again
“Alone your majesty but Prince Emenike…..” I stopped… I was lost at the right words to use in order not to implicate myself.
“But Prince Emenike was also there, Yes or No?”
“He was there but it was coincidence your majesties”
I replied.
“What did you two do while you were together alone in such a quiet place with your husband’s younger brother”
The King questioned.
Tears pilled up but I intended to hold stronger
“Nothing your majesty”
I replied with my eyes closed,
“Liar! I saw you sneak out of the palace and so I asked my guard to go after you report back to me”
So it was the guard at the stream
I opened my eyes and looked up, the Queen stood on her feets.
She started walking closer to me
“You were busy getting intimate with not just any man but your husband’s brother. Deceitful! Abomination! You open your legs for a man that isn’t your husband.. you stain royalty with dirty blood”
She walked around me. I could control the tears no longer… I began crying
“That’s not true!”
“You’re a married woman, why commit such act.. ”
She went on
“Stop please, I’ve done nothing wrong” I cried loudly
“You were chosen by the gods to be a wife to the crowned prince, why not accept your fate? You’ve committed adultery”
“STOP!!!” I screamed covering my ears. My blood boiled, my heart broke at every word she said.
My skin freezing from the cold that swept right through me.
“How dare you?”
She raised her hand to hit me but someone held her hand. I looked and it was Ikenna, he slowly dropped her hand
“Don’t hit her, your words were enough” he said to her
Emenike walked in.
“She didn’t do anything, is it a crime to be in love?”
He said so confidently that it made me wonder.
“Emenike!!” The King yelled to stop him
“I’m sorry father but that is truth. We love each other and we’ll fight for that love” he told them
He walked to me and held my shoulders
“Are you okay? Don’t worry I’m here now and nobody will hurt you, not even your so called husband”
He said to me
I stopped crying, I raised my head to met his eyes.
I removed his hand from my shoulders.
“What do you want from me? I don’t love you.. I’m not fighting with you for anything.. why are you doing this to me?”
“Adenike please don’t say that, I know you yearn for me just as much as I do.. let’s prove to them how love conquers all”
He held my shoulders again
“Don’t you dare ever try to lay your hands on me. I don’t want anything to do with a man who tries to force himself on a woman”
I almost spat on his face, anger covered all the pain I felt. It took over the sadness in my eyes.
“What!”
They exclaimed
“I know you want me, I know you ne….”
He was stopped with a punch
from Ikenna. The King stood up immediately
“Stop it you two!” He ordered and Ikenna moved back.
“I don’t want any of this, I don’t want to be here or with either of you. I just want to be left alone”
I added and ran out.
