Aurelia flashed a sardonic smile, thinking, “What kind of rotten luck would a woman have to end up in

this household?”

“What about this,” she proposed, “If Emma comes and pleads with me on Ritchie’s behalf, I’ll hire a

lawyer and bail him out.”

Perla’s heart tightened. Now that Emma had moved out with her two daughters, the last thing she

wanted was to beg her for anything.

“Why does she have to be the one to come?”

“Because I’m closer to her comparing to you guys,” Aurelia said, nonchalantly.

Perla grunted, “She moved out with her burdens, where am I supposed to find her? Are you deliberately making things difficult for me?”

Aurelia’s gaze turned icy, “Auntie Perla, you’re also a woman. Are you a burden?”
Jelena snickered, “Only the ones who can’t make money are burdens, aren’t they? Ritchie’s in his

thirties now, what can he do other than spend money? If one day you fall sick and are bedridden, can

he even shell out a dime to help you?”

Perla was infuriated. In her eyes, her son was the best, incomparable to anyone else.

“Shut up, you brat!” she snapped. “You’re an internet celebrity doesn’t mean you’re all that. Ritchie is

the eldest son and grandson of the Hawthorne family. It’s not your place to

criticize him.”

Aurelia leisurely sipped her soup, “Anyway, I’ve already stated my conditions. Whether you agree or

not, it’s up to you.”

Perla wanted to retort, but Rahul held her back, “Alright, go and persuade Emma, and ask her to move

back in with the kids.”

Perla glared at him but said no more.

Perla shot her a look, “Our small three–bedroom house can’t accommodate so many people. Your

mansion here can easily fit twenty people, so why don’t you let our parents live with you?”

Jolin retorted, “This mansion was bought by Avery. The house you’re living in was bought by Mom and

Dad. So, can’t they live in their own house?”

Perla was stung by her words and seethed with anger.

At this point, the previously silent Leopold chimed in, “Grandma, Avery is a public figure. We need to

respect her privacy. How about I buy a separate villa for you two in this neighborhood and hire two

maids to look after you? What do you think?”

Belinda was so excited at this suggestion that she almost jumped off the sofa, nodding eagerly, “Yes!”

Aurelia was taken aback. She turned to him, about to reject the offer, but Leopold interrupted, “Since

Grandma agrees, let’s settle on this.”

Aurelia rubbed her forehead, thinking, “Having money sure makes one bold.” She quickly added, “I

have two conditions. First, only you two can live in the villa, no one else is allowed. Second, I want

Mom to manage your retirement funds. If you want to buy something, just let her know.”

Perla was immediately unhappy, “But we need that retirement money to pay Ritchie’s mortgage. How

can we give it to you?”

Aurelia replied, “Grandpa and Grandma have already paid for his house for three years. From now on,

it’s his turn to pay the mortgage.”
