She turned her head, catching his icy, brooding gaze, and quickly retracted, startled.

“I guess…I guessed it.”

His brows furrowed, a touch of crimson on his face, “This has nothing to do with you, just stick to your fishing.”

Seeing her getting too close to Elowen annoyed him. She had no sense of danger, completely dismissing his warning.

Aurelia’s face turned a shade paler, her lips pursed in silence, her fingers tightening around the fishing rod.

She glanced at Evelyn out of the corner of her eye. With a smug smile on her face, Evelyn was clearly gloating, which made her feel even worse.

In fact, she was already used to Leopold’s cold words.

She tucked her phone into her pocket and stood up, “I’m going to the restroom.”

Not far from the lake, she saw Avery approaching.

Avery stared at her, curious about what role she played in Leopold’s life.

“Sis, small question, if Arno and his brother both liked you, who would you choose?”

Aurelia choked, her wounded pride torn open.

“Stop talking nonsense. I’m not that charming. Arno only sees me as a good friend. And the big boss, even less so. Elowen and Evelyn are wealthy heiresses, so they can stand beside him. I’m just a low–profile employee. I’m not even worthy to stand close to him. He wouldn’t even glance at me if I were the last woman on earth. Do you get it?”

Even though her voice was low, her emotions were uncontrollable.

As she spoke, various images of Leopold’s expressions flooded her mind–mocking, disdainful, contemptuous, disgusted… They assaulted her like changing close–ups in a movie, cutting through her sout, causing her to feel a deep–seated pain.

“Sis!” Avery hugged her. Her shoulders were shaking slightly, he could feel it.

From her words, he understood that Leopold was merely toying with her. She must have realized the truth,

Aurelia took a deep breath, trying to regain composure. She had lost control just now.

“Well… Arno messaged me on WhatsApp, inviting us over for dinner tomorrow.”
