Aurelia took a bite of lobster.

That was the whole point, to slip under the radar.

“Aurelia, don’t spend all your money on Avery, save some for yourself. You’re not getting any younger, and you can get yourself a partner.”

Aurelia smiled, “Mom, consider this an investment. Once Avery hits it big, do you think I’ll lack for anything?” Her comment made Jolin laugh, “Alright, go eat. When Avery comes back, have him call me.”

“Okay.”

After hanging up, Aurelia returned to the table.

Leopold poured her a glass of juice, “Is your child support enough?”

She was taken aback for a moment and then laughed awkwardly, “Of course.”

If she could become a director, her salary would double, and with bonuses, she would be able to repay him.

Just as she was thinking this, she heard Leopold’s voice across the table, “Isn’t it better to be a CEO’s wife than a director? Could a director make as much money?”

She took a sip of her juice, looking at him seriously, “One is money I earned through hard work, the other is given by someone else. How could they be the same?”

Leopold raised an eyebrow, was this her last act of defiance?

“Actually, having someone give you money is a skill in itself.”

Aurelia remained silent.

He was the kind of person who only cared about the result, not the process.

Leopold raised an eyebrow, nonchalantly tossing back a few words, “I’ll handle it, don’t worry.”

Aurelia could tell he had a plan, after all, he was a man of deep scheming.

“Don’t you dare think about putting me under house arrest abroad again, I would rather die than go.”

Leopold’s gaze turned frosty, the sea breeze suddenly turning chilly.

Leopold grumbled, a shadow of hostility crossing his face, “Flirting with other men while carrying my children, is that honoring the contract?”

The mere thought of her and Arnold laughing and chatting drove his temper through the roof.

She choked a bit, rolling her eyes at him, “That’s just normal socializing, making friends. Besides, Arno isn’t an outsider, he’s your brother, the babies‘ uncle.”

Aurelia felt a twinge in her heart, her eyelids instinctively falling, casting a shadow on her eyelids, “He and I are just friends, whether you’re in the picture or not, it won’t change our relationship.”
