TEMPTING THE DEVIL - EPISODE 8
Natalie ✓
I was waiting for the maids who were sent to go to the market. It’s weekend and I need to cheer up with hanging around.
Mr Luciano was surprised to see me dressed up, I never told to him about going out today.
” Going out?” He asked.
” Yeah. I heard the maids were going for shopping, thought I have to tag along. ”
He gave me this stare that told me if I was actually serious.
” Come on, Mr Luciano, it’s weekend. I can take care of myself. ”
” Okay, if you say so. I will send the driver to take you guys to the market. ”
” Okay. ”
The driver drove us to the market. He stopped at a corner while I and the two other ladies went to the market.
I decided to do the buying while they held the bags. This is actually my first time going to the market.
Don’t blame me, it’s Dad’s fault.
I have tried several times to convince him to let me go since I turned fifteen but he never listens to me. He was too overprotective.
Shopping in the market is as interesting as shopping in Westfield Stratford. I so much love it here.
We spent about an hour or two, that’s because I had to excuse myself to meet Ruthie who also came to the market.
We had a fifteen minutes discussion. I had to round it up so I wouldn’t keep the others waiting.
I entered the car, and the driver immediately started the engine. He checked left and right before he could make a turn.
But some how in a way I still can’t tell, a car barged at us, hitting the front side of our car.
I almost had my head hit on the dashboard but I was so quick to prevent it with my hands.
At a normal, we should be the one yelling at the bastard who got us hit, instead, he was the one doing the shouting.
” You shut your f*cking mouth up, okay?” Yelled the driver as he hurriedly stepped out of the car.
My ears were busy to understand what the argument was for. Thankfully we had someone like him here, I would have been crying by now.
That’s totally not my fault either, I hate it when people yell at me like that. Dad never do that to me, so, it’s already part of me.
” You f*cking crazy?” Growled the other man. ” You blocked my way and you’ve got the shit hole mouth to talk back at me? ”
” You’re the one with the shit hole mouth, d**k. ” He cursed back. ” I think you need some medical attention on your eyes because I can’t see the reason why you didn’t see me driving out of the lane. ”
” I didn’t? Of course, I did. Not because you drive an expensive car doesn’t mean you worth it. You’re just a driver for all I know. ”
That got my head spinning. I can’t imagine how it feels for the guy now. There was a moment pause in his atmosphere and I was beginning to shiver for what the next action could be.
” You called me a driver?” He said angrily. ” You f*cking called me a… ” I hurriedly stepped out of the car to stop him from doing anything crazy.
” Hey. Hey, hey.” I held him back.
” Look at him, he can’t even push through a woman. ” The other man laughed. ” And you want to fight me? Don’t f*cking waste your time, asshole.”
” Just keep standing there and you see what I will… ” He almost pushed me away but I held my stands.
” Hey, you calm down, okay?! ” I yelled at him and he stopped struggling.
He was breathing heavily and I could see how much effort he put trying to calm himself down.
” Don’t listen to him. Let’s just get the hell out of here, okay.” He nodded his head. ” Come on, get inside the car. ”
I entered the car, looking at the back. ” Are you guys alright?” I asked them.
” Yes, ma’am.” They said, shaking frightfully.
” Don’t worry, we’re heading back to the mansion.” I adjusted, leaning my back to the seat.

” You shouldn’t have attempt to fight.” I said after a long moment of silence. ” I understand how it feels to be called a driver and… but you shouldn’t have over reacted to it. ”
I looked at him, and he looked at me taking his gaze almost immediately.
” Mr Luciano is gonna have me pay for the scratch. I don’t have enough for the maintenance. ” He said coldly.
” Don’t worry about the maintenance, I’ll handle it. You just have to drive them back to the mansion, ” I said, referring to the two maids. ” while we go to the car maintenance store.”
He glared at me, the expression on his face told how surprised he was at my words.
I hated it when innocent people have to suffer for what they didn’t commit. I have enough in my account, eighty dollars isn’t a big deal.

We had returned few minutes after Mr Luciano’s arrival. We were supposed to be in the house by 3pm but due to the scratch, we were returning back at after five.
” What took you guys so long?” He asked.
” Well, I went hanging with Tony at the play pack. ” That came out so sudden.
” Tony? ” He asked to be sure if I’d rather say, surprised.
” Yes, Tony, the driver.”
He laughed. ” I never thought you’d be hanging out with the driver. ”
” Well, everything isn’t about wealth. It’s more about fun. He’s cool, though. ”
” Tony is a cool guy. You’re never gonna regret having him as a driver. ”
” Yeah, I thought as much. ”
Tony and I have decided to keep the incident between us. I also had to tell the two maids who were present when the incident happened.
They promised not to tell Me Luciano a word about it. Case closed.
I relaxed on my bed with a glass of strawberry wine beside me. I held my half written article on one hand, reading through what I have written over and over again.
I didn’t want to bother Mr Luciano to help me, I need to start writing my article all by myself.
I managed to type the little I have written in my laptop, and the rest would have to be something for some other time.
For over this week now, a lot of news stations have reported the massive number of killings in the City. No one is safe anymore.
Every one suspects it to be the normal drug gang stuffs, but guess the innocent seem to be involved in some death cases.
And I hated what I think. What if… What if it has a lot to do with Christopher Adams?? I thought to myself.

I woke up late the next morning. I can’t believe I missed service.
I hurriedly took my bath and dressed up to church. I didn’t mind if I had breakfast, I don’t miss service.
Today’s service was motivating. Rev. Bernard really made a good preaching today.
While the service went on, my gaze met with someone who looked exactly like the Christopher Adams Mr Thompson always talk about.
Thou, I could only see his side view, but I’m certain it’s him.
I waited for the service to be over, then I followed after him. He was so fast, that even before I could make it to the exit door, he’s car had zoomed off.
He had the same hair cut, so I’m certain it is definitely him.
But that was surprising, you know. A notorious gangster just attended today’s service. I mean, that’s crazy!
What’s he trying to prove? The innocent baby Jesus or what exactly??
No wonder why Ruthie made the statement when she said, “ You might end up meeting him along the road but you won’t notice you’ve met with London’s most wanted. ”
Honestly, I’ll admit, he looks so innocent to be suspected.
