TEMPTING THE DEVIL - Episode 35 And 36

I woke up by the sound of the alarm, I always hated it when the alarm rings.

I shut it down, falling back to sleep. Not up to a minute, my phone alarm started ringing more louder.

” Fu*k!” With the anger and sleep in my eyes, I almost threw my phone away.

I sat on my bed, rubbing my eyes. It feels good to be back home. It feels damn good to be on your bed.

I had a quick shower, and a hot coffee after. The maids were done with breakfast, damn, I missed the delicious meals.

I ate slowly with my napkin tied around my neck. I checked on the time on my wrist watch, I was an hour early to the work time.

” Make me pancakes tonight.” I told the maids, while I picked my car key and my bag from the dinning table.

First day at the company, I hope this turns out well.

There were murmuring sounds as I walked out of the elevator to Dad’s office.

Eyes were on me as if this was my first time to the company. Yeah, it’s my second, don’t get too surprised.

” Good morning, Miss Bradeson.” Was the least I could hear from the workers before entering into the office.

Quickly, the secretary and the company manager walked in after.

” Good morning, ma’am.” They greeted in unison.

” Here is the company’s records for the past few months your father has been away.” Said the secretary as she drops the files in the desk.

” Okay.” I went through the files carefully, staring at the so much losses they have made since the past months.

” Is my father aware of this?” I asked.

” Yes, ma’am. We always send him the estimate records by the end of each month.”

” Why do we have so much loss in this company? Is it because my father is away and there’s no one suitable enough to direct you?”

I yelled and they stood quiet. ” I’m talking to humans and not some kind of animals!”

The secretary flinched at my voice, staring at the manager to make the move.

” I’m waiting.” I said, my voice a bit low.

” We went into the crisis with an overcapacity of people relative to demand. ” He began. “The crisis has caused additional strain on the business due to lower demands and reduced national attrition. In addition, we have identified structural costs which we need to address. ”

” First, what crisis? ” I asked.

” During the past two months, we were accused of exporting some expired goods across the country. The goods were detected to be fake at the border of the United States.

So, we were penalized for it and the United State government ordered for some amount of money to clear up the crime committed. ”

” Did you contacted my father after this happened? ”

” Yes, we did. And we did informed him the total amount of the company’s money used. We have the record in the file. ”

I stared at the huge amount of money. Fu*king 5 million USD for some fu*king crime committed?

Funny Americans.

” Second, how much money do we have left in the company’s account? ”

” Half a million dollar. ” Replied the manager.

My head almost blasted with anger the moment he said those words.

That was the least amount the company can ever have when dad was still around.

Despite the so much expenses he makes for the company, it never reached even to 5 million dollars in his account.

I’m so damn disappointed in this.

” And the taxes too, what happened to it?” I asked, trying to sound cool.

” Due to the crisis, we weren’t able to make it up to the taxes. ”

” Which led the government to double the original payment? ” They were quiet and this gave me an opportunity to blow my anger out.

” What kind of company manager are you, huh? That nothing positive seems to be your result since you walked in here!

I am sorry to say this but I’m so disappointed in you all! It’s just six months. Six good months the boss left and every thing is a mess in here.

What about a year, what’s gonna remain of us? Nothing! No taxes paid, fake products sold out. Where the fu*k were you when all this were happening?!

Drinking coffee and watching the movie show, huh? ”

” No, ma’am. ” He said sharply.

” I’m gonna hold the both of you responsible if anything happens to this company. And I’m gonna make sure you two pay for every loss.

And you know what that means, don’t you? So, if you wanna save your life from trouble, then you better do what’s suppose to be done. ” I warned.

” Yes, ma’am. ” they both said.

” Good. Now let’s get to work.”

I threw myself on my bed, I knew today was gonna be so hectic for me. Wasn’t surprised after all.

It still baffles me to hear that’s most favorite company was having half a million dollars in its account.

And all this while, he never told me anything until now, because he knows things were getting worster than it should.

Draco has just finished smoking on his Cigar, now he was watching as his men counted the money when a bullet flew pass his head.

He was alerted by the whozed sound of the bullet, sighting the shooter as he had took to his heels to escape.

He frowned at how possible it was for an intruder to walk into his warehouse, unnoticed.

Unfortunately for the intruder, some guards had held him, dragging him to where Draco sat.

Draco stared at him for a long while, he knew the kid was still an amateur in the field.

” What’s your name, kid?” He asked.

” What do you want my name for? ” He asked back, sounding rude.

” Do it won’t be difficult to send condolences to your poor family after you’re dead. So, what’s your name? ” He asked again.

” We don’t spread our names around.”

He smiled politely at his response. ” Well, I don’t think I’m interested anymore. Maybe killing you without a name is gonna make things a lot easier for me. ”

” Who sent you… to kill me? ”

” You better have me dead, cos I ain’t telling you shit. ”

Charles grabbed him by the neck, and he wasn’t satisfied until he could see how much the boy struggled for air.

” I ask again, who sent you?”

” Vince…” Said the boy in between his breath.

Draco made a sign to Charles instructing him to losen his grip which he did so. ” Vince..” he said with a loud cough.

He was breathing like he was gonna die now and then, hands on his chest as if it supplied much air to his lungs.

” He sent me to follow you and that I should kill you after. ”

” And he had to send an amateur after me? ” He scoffed. ” You’re pretty good at the guns but you still need more training. I’m gonna let you go, but you’ve got a message for Vince.

You tell him I said, if he ever sends his men after me, I will hunt him and I will make sure ever single soul who works for him are dead. Understand?! ”

He nodded continuously.

” Take him out of here. ” He instructed and the men dragged him out. Turns to Charles, ” I need tight security outside the building, I won’t tolerate any more intruders sneaking into my warehouse. ”

” Yes, boss.”

” You really are making a great loss in the company.” I said. ” Why didn’t you let me know about this sooner? Can you believe half a million is all we’ve got in the account?”

” That’s why I assigned you to take over in my place. I know things would be a lot difficult for my manager.”

” No, he just made things a lot difficult than it should be. They all felt relaxed I’d say, hoping on the company’s money to solve their problem.” I don’t know why, but I was growing angrier than I expected.

Maybe it’s because my dad employed weaker souls to take care of his company, or the fact that within six months, a great loss has been achieved.

I don’t know if I should direct all my anger to him for making such a big mistake.

” You were the one in my mind the first day I got the contract to Russia. But, seeing how desperate you were to be a journalist, I couldn’t take it from you.

I wanted you to be happy. I wanted you to have your dreams so I decided not to bother you.”

I calmed down as I listened to what he says.
