TEMPTING THE DEVIL - EPISODE 17
” We’ve got a problem.” Mr Thompson said as he stepped into the meeting hall. ” There’s a news trending on media and I’m sure every single one of us have listened to it? ”
He heaved a sigh. ” I love writing articles, but having the same story written over and over again… It tells the country isn’t safe anymore.”
” Why would they kill innocent people for just one person? ” Someone asked.
Ruthie looked at me but we said nothing to each other. This isn’t a story for us, it was reality. We experienced it, we saw it all happened.
” You aren’t gonna say a word about what we saw at the beach.” I warned her.
” But why? Keeping it a secret won’t do either of us any good. We must report this to the cops. De Conto must be hunted, likewise those motherf*ckers. ”
” It would be safer if we say nothing. We don’t know what happened that day, and we didn’t see it happening. It should be that way. ” I finalized.
We didn’t meet as usual, we spoke less to each other pretending to have heard of the news newly today.
I’m beginning to see reasons why Dad and Mr Luciano had warned me not to write an article about the Drug Lords.
They is nothing safe coming out from them and you’ll be as dead as a hunted fowl if they find out about that you know much about them.
” So, what are you gonna write about the story?” Ruthie asked me as we walked to where I parked my car.
” I don’t know. I feel unsafe writing about the Mafia’s. It’s like they’re watching us all. They know those poking into their businesses, and the ignorant ones. Though it’s out duty as a journalist to write out facts, but I think this is way beyond… facts. ”
” You wanna quit? ”
” No, why would I. I mean, I didn’t say that, did I? ”
” I wanna quit. ”
” Seriously? Don’t tell me it’s because of what I said. I was only saying those because… ”
” No, it’s not about what you said.” She interrupted. ” I just don’t feel safe anymore. ”
” You know how hard your father and aunty worked to get you into the company, you don’t have to let them down. ”
” Isn’t it better than losing my life? Like you said, the Mafia’s has eyes on us, the best way to stay out of them is by staying out of anything that will get them to you. ”
” Maybe we shouldn’t just write about them. Stories are all about facts, we can fake a fact about them. ”
” Like? ”
” Anything. I don’t know. ”
She chuckled. ” You’re aren’t serious, I swear. ” She hopped into the car, while I drove her home before making it to the Luciano’s mansion.
I stopped at a store to buy some things for dinner tonight and tomorrow morning. I had purchased them all, with the bag in my hand I left the store.
To my greatest surprise, I saw some group of men leaning on my car. They were about six of them.
” Hey, that’s my car.” I said, walking closer. ” Get off.”
” What the f*ck is she talking about?” One of them said and the others laughed. ” Your car, huh? Your f*cking car?! ” He said, hitting it with his legs.
” I don’t want any trouble, just get the heck out of my car.” I said, sounding mean.
” Oops, little angel is angry. ” He mocked. ” But that shit ain’t mean a thing to us. Cos tonight, you’re going f*cking nowhere. ”
I took to my heels, running as fast as I could. I didn’t mind dropping the pizzas to the group while running, I don’t think those means a thing to me right now.
I ran to my capability but I couldn’t make it so fast from them as the six of them ran after me. One grabbed me by the waist, and we both fell to the ground.
He grabbed my both hands to my back, locking it with his strong hold. ” Let me go! Let me… Ahhh!!” Another landed a slap on my right cheek.
” Shut the f*ck up!!” He warned. ” Any more noise, then you’re dead… for darn good. Understood?! ”

I spat at him. ” Go to hell, d*ck! ”
He laughed. ” Don’t worry, pretty, you’ll be the first to test hell. ” He grabbed me by the hair, dragging me along with him.
” Ahh! ” I groaned in pains as it grew more painful at each pull he gave to me. ” Ahhh!!”
” I said… shut that f*cking mouth up.” He said, tossing me to the back seat of their car.
” Somebody help! Someone h…” He offered another hotter slap on the other cheek, covering my mouth with a silver tape.
” Better.” I struggled to free my hands and legs from the rope they had used to tie me up. ” Bye bye, pretty.” He covered my nose with a handkerchief, after some few seconds, I passed out.

I groaned at the pain in my head, it hurts like hell. I rubbed my eyes against the sun which pierced into my eyes.
” Where the heck am I?” I muttered, still groaning at the pains. I can feel it all over my body.
I remember last night. It all happened after I had bought my dinner. Those men, they were six of them. I can remember.
But that’s not the problem, I can’t remember how I got in here. Oh, I was drugged. I think that’s the least I can remember.
The door swung open and a man in his late forties walked in with a golden cane in his hand. ” And what do we have here?” He squatted, tangling my hair in his fingers.
I shifted my head, causing my hair to slip off his fingers. ” Hello, beautiful.”
” You made a big mistake, do you think you’re gonna go free for this? ”
” Of course, Miss Bradeson. You don’t work for the government or the forces, so that’s a relief. ”
” How do you know my name? ”
” Who doesn’t know the famous Kelvin Bradeson, hmm? Well, your father ain’t my business right now, you are. ”
” What do you want from me? ”
” I’ve been spying on you for a very long time. And do you know what, I found out that you share the same roof with my enemy. ”
” I don’t know what you’re talking about. ”
” No, you don’t have to. I was only creating some awareness, that’s all. Now, I need you to tell me every thing you know about Draco Luciano. ”
” I don’t know what you’re talking about. ” I insisted.
He smirked, scoffing. ” Very smart of you, Miss Bradeson. But I’m gonna say it again, what do you know about Draco Luciano? ”
” First, he’s an asshole and second, he’s none of my business. Third, he’s still none of my business. ”
” Are you playing games with me? Huh? ”
” You asked a question remember, I’m only giving the answers. Isn’t that what you wanna hear, hmm? ”
” Don’t worry, how you’re gonna spit them all out is something you won’t understand even in your grave. ”
” I hope so. ”
He angrily left the room, whispering something to the guy standing by the door. He stared me a hard glance, “torture her. ” He said before leaving.
Maybe I was dreaming when he had said that or… Is it actually what he just said?
F*cking kill me.
