TEMPTING THE DEVIL - EPISODE 10

I appeared on my silky red gown with a long split which travelled up to my thigh, exposing a part of my leg.

I had my red heels on and a red small handbag in a purse size shape. I remembered purchasing this attire a year ago on my birthday.

It was my favorite dress and I always had it on on special occasions.

I dressed my hair on the best style I can ever give to it, applying enough make up on my face. Tho, not too much to cause a havoc.

I glared at myself at the mirror for the last time, checking on my lipstick.

” You look beautiful, Nat.” I praised myself for the first time in centuries. I never had the time to compliment on myself, maybe that’s because I got no time for stuffs like that.

Even to yourself?…

Now, that’s the annoying voice in my head talking. Puff.

I opened the door, leaving the room to the sitting room. From the staircase I could hear Mr Luciano talking to someone in a call.

He was backing me when I got to the room, one hand on his waist and the other held the phone.

” I’m coming like I promised. I’ll be there at any time. ”

” Thank you. ” He said to whatever it is the other receiver had said. ” We’ll see when I get there. Bye.”

Fusing his phone into his pocket, he turned to check if I had show up.

He gave me a long glance from up to down, then back to my face. ” You look great tonight.” He complimented with a smile.

” Thank you.”

” Are you ready for the ball?”

” Of course, I am.”

He curved his hand while I held it with mine. ” Let’s get going.”

He opened the door to the passenger seat, I entered, adjusting myself properly.

He got to the driver’s seat. He started the car and off we were out of the compound to the ball house.

While we were still making our way to the party, I was busy with so many thoughts inside my head.

I was wondering if this ball party would be like that of the ancient ball type we all know…

Or if it would turn out to be those kinds we had back then in highschool and college.

Or am I the one with no sense to understand what the word ‘Ball Party’ means.

It took us about close to an hour to get there. The building wasn’t the highschool or college type thought, it was more like the big men type.

Oh, I’m so crazy to have forgotten, this isn’t just an ordinary man hosting the party…

I can’t give a confirm explanation to what kind of ball party this is. I know I’ve been to a party before, but those were the normal highschool ones.

I mean, I haven’t attended to this kind before. It’s always dad’s fault, he never lets me attend to any.

” Are you scared?” His voice brought me out of my thoughts.

” No, I’m just a little bit nervous, that’s all.”

” I see. Guess you haven’t been to a ball before. ”

I shook my head. ” I’ve been to a party but not this kind of party. ”

” You mean the highschool party? ”

” And college party too. ” I see he really understands.

” Don’t worry, you will soon get use to it. You just have to stick around with me, or we end up looking for each other. ”

I nodded an ” okay. ”

We finally entered the building, the hip-hop music blasted the inside that one could hardly hear the other talking no matter the distance.

” Come, I’ll show you to my friends.” He yelled due to the high volume of the speaker.

He took me to a group of people sitting on a different section of the building.

From the looks, one can tell this part of the building was only meant for the rich men.

There were one… two… three… they were many of them and time can’t tell if I have to count all of them.

They handshaked each other and some who went ahead hugging him. My nervousness grew extremely high.

The faces I was staring at were different. Both men and young gentlemen and youths were all sitting there.

” Who is she?” One of the men asked, scanning me from head to toe.

” This is my best friend’s daughter, Miss Natalie Bradeson.” He introduced.

They welcomed me and I felt a bit relaxed. I noticed Mr Luciano look around, ” Where is my son?” He asked when he saw that his son wasn’t with them.

His son?

His son is here too?

Finally, I will get to see Mr Luciano’s son???

” I’m here father.” A deep voice sounded from behind. Both Mr Luciano and I turned to look at who it was.

” Hey, son.” He welcomed him with an embrace, but here I am standing at my confusion.

What am I staring at?

Now, I am staring at the same guy from the shopping mall who turns out to be the one and only Christopher Adams, City of London’s most wanted criminal.

Who also ends up to be Draco Luciano, Mr Luciano’s son!!

For damn sake why does every thing get complicated and confusing than it already has.

Oh, now I see.

” Draco, meet Natalie, Mr Bradeson’s daughter. And Nat, this is my son, Draco. ”

Yeah, we’ve met before. Said the voice in my head.

” A pleasure to meet you, Miss Bradeson.” He stretched for a handshake.

” A pleasure to meet you too, Mr Luciano. ” I held his hand, returning the handshake which lasted for a second, I guess.

Our eyes has been staring at each other for what took like minutes and not a single word came out of our mouth.

” Have you two meet before?” Asked Mr Luciano.

” No.” We both said at the same time.

” I uhm… I’ll go get a drink.” I excused myself.

” Okay, give me a call when you are done.”

” I will.” I left as soon as possible to the wine bar. ” Please a bottle of wine. ” I said.

” Alcoholic or… ”

I didn’t let the counter man finish his statement I quickly said, ” Non alcoholic, please.”

” Right on your way, ma’am. ”

Even if you have to ask me a million times, I will keep saying the same thing over and over again. This shit is getting me thinking.

Not only the fact that he is City of London’s most wanted, but for the fact that he is Mr Luciano’s son and a drug Lord for crying out loud.

But, to think of it, does that mean Mr Luciano isn’t aware of what his son does? Or is it because of the fact that his media name is totally different from his real name?

To be honest with you, I’m totally as confused as you are right now. Even as I sipped on my drink, nothing seem to be helping at all.

” I need another glass, please.” I requested and he poured me a glass immediately.

” Shit!” I cursed, stamping my fist lightly on the desk.

” Hey,” someone said from behind, ” mind for a company?”

I don’t know if I should say a yes to him or just plainly tell him that I wanted to be alone.

” Yes.”

He sat on the empty seat beside me. ” Your the girl Mr Luciano brought along, right? I mean, Mr Bradeson’s daughter.”

” Yes, that’s me. ”

” Wow, you look… great tonight. ” Looks at the wine attendant, ” Pour me a glass of whiskey, will you? ”

Staring back at me. ” So, my name is Charles.”

” Nice to meet you, Charles.”

” So, Ms Bradeson, if you won’t mind me asking, what’s your occupation? ” He asked, sipping on his drink.

” I work as a journalist.”

” A journalist, wow that’s nice. Well, I work for Mr Luciano, ” pointing at the gangster leader, ” We base on foreign exchange. ”

” Like? ”

” Motors. ”

” Oh, I see. ” I looked at Mr Luciano’s son who was having a long discussion with his father.

His gaze met with mine and I quickly took my gaze off him, staring back at Charles.

” Is he always like that?” I asked, referring to Draco Luciano.

” Him?” He chuckled. ” I won’t say no, but honestly, most time he is always like that. Why do you ask? ”

” He hasn’t smiled since he showed up. I was only wondering if it’s his nature. ”

” Don’t worry about him, his kinda cool though. ”

I looked at him again, he doesn’t really look cool to me. He looks more like the monster he is.
