There was no immediate response from the other side. I could hear his breathing in my ear. After a moment of silence, his magnetic voice rang out again, “You’ve been affecting me for a long time, what should I do?”
I immediately tensed up, gripping the phone tightly, frightened by his words, “Raymon, I, …”
“You pledged yourself, didn’t you!” His voice surprisingly carried a hint of mockery.
This man, really, at such a time, he still had the mood to joke with me.
“You… really, I’m talking about serious matters. Did my contract affect your future? Raymon, then… then I’d rather not do it!”
“It’s too late!” he said bluntly, “So you only have one way, that is to live up to everyone’s expectations!”
I felt my body involuntarily sway, and I swallowed hard.
After a while, he whispered in my ear, “Are you asleep? Do you want to
see me?”
My brain felt like it was deprived of oxygen for a moment, and a thousand horses were galloping in the depths of my heart. However, I restrained my impulse, “Aren’t you going on a business trip tomorrow? It’s too late…”
I found myself at a loss for words, my heart beating as if it had missed a half beat. My breathing was somewhat labored, and my palms were sweaty.
After a few seconds of silence, I began to speak, “Well…”
“Alright, then you should rest early!”
We both started to speak at the same time, but my words got stuck in my mouth and I didn’t continue. He, however, sensibly withdrew his
thoughts.
I instantly felt an unprecedented sense of loss. In fact, I really, really wanted to see him. That desire made it impossible for me to calm down.
“Wait for me! Wait for me to come back!” His tone was calm, but it was actually even more cruel.
After hanging up the phone, I felt as if my soul had scattered, slowly sitting on the floor in front of the bed, tightly hugging myself. I didn’t know why I had just rejected him, pretending to be so reserved, when in fact, I really wanted to see him.
So much so that now I felt my heart, torn with excruciating pain.
I pondered over every word he said, becoming increasingly unsettled. There must have been a problem with our collaboration. After all, whether it was Prosper Materials or Cruz Constructions, both were too inexperienced to collaborate with Broadray Vision.
The help Raymon extended to me could have been a one–day act of defiance. After all, he was just an assistant, and it’s possible that his actions were overstepping his authority.

He had done too much for me, and up until now, Raymon was right, I had no other choice but to live up to everyone’s expectations.

I tossed and turned all night, with numerous problems constantly flooding into my mind, too tangled to sort out. It wasn’t until the sky had already brightened that I forced myself to get some sleep.
I felt like I hadn’t really fallen asleep when I was woken up by a phone call. I fumbled around, found the phone, and answered it while still half- asleep. I mumbled a groggy “Hmm!” in response.

“Cassie!”

This call instantly revived me a bit. I glanced at my phone, it was indeed Orlando. I quickly sat up, “What’s up?”
“Cassie, Mr. Price ordered as soon as he arrived at the company this morning to collaborate with those suppliers to put pressure on Prosper Materials and create momentum, trying to prevent Prosper Materials from signing with new suppliers. He has information on the several suppliers you’ve recently visited. I suspect someone inside your team is in contact with him, so I’m giving you a heads up. Be careful!”
Orlando’s words pounded into my ears, instantly driving away all my sleepiness.
No wonder Oswald casually mentioned last night, ‘Otherwise, even if I let you sign the contract, you’ll have to spend money.‘ It seems he knew that I had signed a contract with Marsh on my end.
“Thanks!” I said to Orlando.
“Cassie, I advise you to clarify those preliminary issues with him as soon as possible. I can’t understand Oswald anymore,” Orlando said, his tone tinged with disappointment towards Oswald.
“Right, it seemed like he had gotten involved with Everprosper Real Estate. This Everprosper Real Estate had always been competing with Broadray Vision for a piece of land. I heard that there was some internal turmoil within Broadray Vision recently, and they wanted to take advantage of this to make a move, joining forces to secure that piece of land! It looked like they were determined to win! Now, Oswald didn’t tell me about these things anymore, but I guessed that he must have had a plan in mind!”
“Everprosper Real Estate?” I repeated, reminiscing about the major clients Oswald had initially introduced to me.
“Cassie, let’s leave it at that, I have to hang up now!” Orlando warned me
cautiously, “Don’t let your people know that I have contact with you.”
“Don’t worry! No one knows!” I assured Orlando, then hung up the phone.
Internal turmoil within Broadray Vision?
No wonder Raymon said he was going to Reptown, it seems that Broadray Vision really had some issues. But was this turmoil going to involve Raymon, for better or worse?
Once he got involved, wouldn’t I be at a disadvantage? I started to feel uneasy, inexplicably anxious in my heart!
I quickly washed up, ate something simple, and hurried to the company.
