When Oswald came back with Jocelyn from kindergarten, dinner was almost ready. Jocelyn ran in happily and shouted, “Mom, I’m back. Dad picked me up.” Her sweet voice made me feel weepy, but I gritted my teeth and held my tears back. “I bought you your favorite fruit.”
“Wow! Thank you, Mom. I want to eat it now! I can’t wait!” Jocelyn ran out to Oswald. “Dad, I want to eat fruit!” “Okay, but only a small piece now. You can eat as much as you want after dinner.”
Oswald washed his hands and peeled a small piece, handing it to the greedy Jocelyn. Then he crammed into the narrow kitchen and hugged me from behind. “Why are there so many delicious dishes?” I felt sick. Our happy family of three was in jeopardy.
“I made them for you. You must be tired after a business trip of several days.” I smiled and casually asked, “Were you busy today?” Oswald grunted “H’m” on my shoulder. My heart sank. I jogged his elbow and said, “Set the table for dinner.” Oswald’s intimacy disgusted me.
I wondered if he was thinking about another woman when he was hugging me. When dinner was ready, I looked at Oswald with a forced smile. “Fancy a drink? It’s been a long time since we last drank. I want to have a drink.” Oswald looked at me with doubt.
“Why?”
“Anyway, there’s nothing to do. Will you go out?” I asked while turning around to get the wine. “There are so many dishes. I want to do something romantic.” When I said this, I was heartbroken.

Oswald got drunk easily. In order not to arouse his suspicion, I poured him a little wine and filled half of my glass. Then we started drinking. It had to be said that alcohol was a good thing. It made people excited and talkative. I pretended to be overjoyed and reminisced about college days and entrepreneurship in the past and our present life. It was quite a joy. Seeing that I was in high spirits, Oswald refilled his glass and constantly reminded me not to drink too much, but he drank a lot. When I helped Oswald to bed, he was dead drunk. I quickly bathed Jocelyn and put her down before I began to take action. My heart pounded wildly. I felt as if I were a thief.
This was the first time over the years that I had checked Oswald’s things. Now I realized how foolish I was in trusting him. I rummaged through his pockets and briefcase but found nothing valuable. I turned around and found Oswald’s phone, but it needed his fingerprint to unlock it.
I quietly walked up to him and grabbed his hand. Just then, he turned over, grabbed my hand, and stared at me, making me tremble with fear. “Water… I want some water,” Oswald said with a lisp. I ran out and fetched a glass of water to feed Oswald, and then he fell asleep again. After unlocking Oswald’s phone, I couldn’t wait to check it.
None of the names on the call log was suspicious. I knew many of them. There were a few women, but they were ruled out. I checked Oswald’s Line and found that there were only several recent contacts.
It seemed that he seldom used Line. I clicked on the first profile photo and saw the message sent on the day he returned: “Does she know?” There were only three words with no other information, and there were no traces of deletion. I wanted to check her Timeline, but it wasn’t available. I couldn’t find any clues. It seemed she was very careful. Oswald said it was Lelia, but I needed to verify it.
In picture favorites, there were only a few photos of me and Jocelyn and two of Lelia. I couldn’t find any more information. I even used an App to scan the phone but found nothing. It was strange that there was nothing suspicious on Oswald’s phone. I tossed and turned that night. How could there be no trace? Apparently, the other party wasn’t an employee of the company or a staff member of the building. Otherwise, the receptionist would not call her “Mrs. Price”. Who on earth was the other party? Did she have other contact information?
