- Season 1 Episode 6 - Another Mrs. Price
I had only visited Prosper Materials once after it moved to the Glorious Building. Oswald gave me a tour when he rented the place. Prosper Materials took up a whole floor, giving me a sense of pride and achievement.
On that day, we embraced in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in his office. He said to me, his voice full of love, “Thank you, honey.
You gave me the capital to start a great career. My life turned around because of you. Believe me. I’ll give this building to you soon.” I laughed bitterly as Oswald had broken his promise.
When I walked into the building, the young woman at the front desk asked me, “Which floor are you visiting? Who are you going to see?” I told her that I was there to see Oswald. She looked me up and down before giving a standard smile. “I’m sorry, lady. Mr. Price is out with his wife.” My head spinned over the answer. Although I had prepared ment*lly, it didn’t dull the shock.
I clenched my purse and tried my best to stay calm. Still, my voice raised an octave. “What? Are you sure?” The receptionist eyed me confusedly and replied nonchalantly, “Yes, I’m sure. You’re looking for the president of Prosper Materials, right? His company is on the 10th floor, and he went out with his wife this morning.”
I swayed at her convinced answer. I had the urge to ask her who Oswald’s wife was. Which wife? Who were I? But I bit my tongue and gritted my teeth, running out of the Glorious Building.
I wanted some dignity. What was more, I hoped the receptionist was mistaken, so that Oswald could have some dignity left. To confirm the receptionist’s words, I called Orlando Richardson with trembling hands. He worked in the Marketing Department of Prosper Materials.

I took a deep breath, so when Orlando picked up, I managed to ask calmly, “Orlando, is Oswald out of the meeting? He didn’t answer my call. It’s urgent.” Orlando was one of Prosper Materials’ management.
He knew whether there was a meeting or not. He stuttered, “The meeting? Cassie, is that you? No, we don’t have a meeting today. Mr. Price is out.” I said OK and ended the call. At that moment, I had never been so powerless.
My strained nerves snapped, and my legs shook. The power that had been supporting me was gone with a puff like a balloon being poked by a needle. My hands trembled uncontrollably. I didn’t have the courage to call Oswald and ask where he was. What was the point?
All I could get was another lie. I didn’t think I could ever trust him again. I feared hearing his voice. I didn’t want him to have another chance to fool me. He was with another woman publicly in the Glorious Building. People in the building all assumed that they were a couple. It wasn’t hard to guess that the woman must have started going in and out of Prosper Materials and the building freely since the beginning.
She was enjoying my privileges. I stood idly on the streets. I searched the crowd, yet Oswald was nowhere to be found. He was like the sand in my hand. The tighter my grip was, the faster it was gone. Collecting my thoughts, I decided that I must find out who this Mrs. Price was.
With wobbly legs, I hailed a taxi to go home and went to the market near our house. I brought the food Oswald liked and Jocelyn’s favorite fruit. I had to wait till he came home. While doing the chords, I planned every step of my actions. I always thought the day was too short. But at that moment, I felt the day was longer than ever. When the office hour was almost over, I called Oswald and asked about his whereabouts before telling him to pick up Jocelyn. Oswald agreed without thinking.
