“I must share this with you. He’s great!”

The message was short. It made people wonder what he was great at, and the answer was pretty obvious.

I was enraged instantly and tossed away my phone. As I panted, I tried not to lash out.

She was provoking me!

How dare she provoke me?

My teeth chattered. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. After a while, I picked up my phone, carried my bag, and stormed out of the office.

When I saw Eleanor, I could no longer hold my tears. I threw myself into her arms and bawled my eyes out. I didn’t know why I couldn’t keep my cool after all the things I had been through.

Eleanor saw the photos and snapped. She stomped her feet and was as angry as I was.

“She’s brassy! She’s…shameless! She gets too carried away!”

After we simmered down, I stared at Eleanor and said, “I won’t fall for her trick. She just wants to rile me up. She lurks in the shadows while we’re in public, so we need to be careful. I won’t get provoked. If she had the guts, she would’ve said those things to my face but not sent me a message!”

“Yes. F*** her… I don’t know why the homewreckers these days like to come on so strong. Maybe they just have no shame!” Eleanor thundered.

Chapter 30 The Homewrecker’s Message

“It seems this person is close to us. She must’ve known I went back to the company to work. Meanwhile, Oswald and I were inseparable these days, so she got all worked up!” I guessed.

Eleanor hurriedly sat next to me. “Cass, it’ll be best if you can stay calm like this. You’re right. With our smart brains and our team, it’s impossible to lose to a homewrecker! But that homewrecker didn’t play by book. She wanted to make a statement. So, what’s our next move?”

Great minds thought alike. After I pulled myself together, I started thinking about how to deal with the homewrecker’s blatant challenges.

“She has challenged me. If I don’t do anything, it’ll only show my weakness! Didn’t she hate to see Oswald and I on good terms? That’s what I’m going to do to rattle her cage!”

“What if Oswald becomes more discreet?” Eleanor peered at me, adding, “What if that jerk works with the homewrecker to deal with you?”

“Humph! He’s already been wary of me. He has cooked the books and set traps for me. So, I think Oswald doesn’t know his mistress issued a challenge. Otherwise, he wouldn’t take precautions.”

Eleanor snapped her finger. “You’re right!”

“What do you plan to do next?”

“PDA! I’ll keep doing lovey–dovey things together with Oswald. I might smoke her out and buy myself some time to make a better plan. So, let’s hurry up and seize the chance!”

Eleanor nodded repeatedly.

I continued, “Keep an eye on Orlando. Oswald trusted Orlando to do those things, so find out what Orlando’s doing. They must be hiding some secrets that might be to our advantage. As a last resort, I can threaten Orlando to tell!”

apter 30 The Homewrecker’s Message

“What resort?” Eleanor questioned.

“I got the dirt on him!” I brainstormed about how to use Orlando.

Later, I returned to the company and walked into Oswald’s office. Marina Ross, Oswald’s CFO, and the other client happened to be there. I saw the opportunity and asked Oswald for 1,600 dollars for the bags and clothes that I took a shine at the mall.

Oswald always had an image to uphold and loved to be viewed as a doting husband. Without hesitation, he transferred me 2,500 dollars.

As expected, the client praised Oswald, but Marina smiled meaningfully.

In fact, I would never ask Oswald for money in front of strangers. In the past, when he gave me money, I would always refuse, saying the company needed it more desperately than a stay–at–home wife.

But now, it was different. I must take my humbleness down a notch and not let Oswald use the money to keep his mistress.

After seeing off the client, Oswald and I went to the kindergarten together. I affectionately held Oswald’s arm all the way and wondered if, in the dark corner, someone was gritting her teeth and glaring at us!

I knew the homewrecker wouldn’t give up. This was just a start…
