- Season 1 Episode 17 - Teach Lelia a Lesson
Lelia felt unhappy to hear my words and said unhappily, “Cassie, you should feel fortunate to have such a life.
My brother is so nice to you. You should be grateful to my brother who works hard all day to allow you to be a stay-at-home wife and lead a carefree life. Who are you to be choosy?
Don’t be too bossy.” I glanced at Lelia coldly. “It’s none of your business! Since when do you have to butt in when I’m talking to your brother?” Lelia rolled her eyes at me.
“I…” “What’s wrong with being a stay-at-home wife?” I interrupted Lelia. “I take it you have a bias against stay-at-home wives, don’t you? No wonder you went to the Glorious Building to experience the life of being a wife like that.
Does it feel good?” I looked directly at Lelia aggressively. It seemed that I was too virtuous in the past, so she dared to think I could easily be bullied.
“How dare you say your brother worked hard and I just stayed at home enjoying my life? Even your brother dare not say anything like that to me!” I didn’t give Lelia a chance to say anything.
“Don’t you or your family know anything about how I’d been looking for customers all over River City, groveling and drinking till I had gastrorrhagia?”
Lelia looked at Oswald with her little face wrinkled. It was clear she was so pissed. However, I continued, “Then why do you think it’s okay for you to enjoy the fruit of my work and spend our money? You take that for granted, don’t you? So let me ask you, who’s qualified? You?”
I stared at Lelia with my eyes colder than ever. “Lelia, if you still want to depend on us and ask us for money, learn to be good, and in the future, do not say such things in front of me! Your brother will coddle you, but I won’t.”
“You…” “Bossy? When you find someone you love, you can come and discuss this with me!” With disdain, I glanced at Lelia, who was exasperated and then said to Oswald, “You can’t always coddle Lelia like that. You have to teach her how to respect others.”
“Cassie, you…” Lelia slapped the table, causing Jocelyn to purse her lips and burst into tears.

Oswald then let out a roar, “That’s enough! Come and have dinner!” Seeing him roar at Lelia, I felt a little relieved in my heart, reaching out to hold Jocelyn and coaxing her not to be afraid. Everything calmed down a lot, and we finally finished the meal.
When we went out to pay the bill, the staff told us that Orlando had already paid it for us. Out of the restaurant, Lelia was still angry and did not get into our car. I glanced at Oswald. “How about Lelia?”
Oswald said with a dark face. “Just let her be! I can’t spoil her like that again.” I didn’t say much. I didn’t like Lelia, my sister-in-law, and was not in a position to say more.
Plus, I had said enough today. On the way, I made use of what Lelia had just said and asked, “How about I go back to work when Jocelyn goes to kindergarten again? Otherwise, you guys will always see me as a resentful freeloader!”
“What are you talking about, honey? I don’t want you to work too hard. You worked so hard for this company back then, and now you can enjoy life at home. It is all Lelia’s fault. Besides, everything in the company runs smoothly now, and there is plenty of administrative staff. It’s not a good time for you to go back!” Oswald said as he drove the car.
I didn’t say anything. To be honest, I felt it was ridiculous. After all, I founded Prosper Materials on my own, but now Oswald said there was no place for me.
I felt it was so ironic. Seeing I kept silent, Oswald took my hand and explained, “Don’t get upset, okay? In fact, it’s OK if you want to come back. After all, you’re the one who got our company where it is today! You are the one who should take the credit. No one can deny it!” I sneered in my heart, “Look!
Oswald is singing the praises of me again! But I know he is just fobbing me off and buying time! How ironic!” I didn’t say anything but looked at the street outside the window, thinking, “In such a big city with hustle and bustle, I still feel lonely. Where is my home?”
The betrayal of this man beside me made me feel like I had fallen into an abyss. I involuntarily put my arms around myself, and tears welled up in my eyes. At that moment, I had secretly decided in my heart that after Jocelyn went back to kindergarten, I would go to work.
