- Season 1 Episode 15 - A Chance Encounter
Orlando was the director of the Marketing Department in our company. He was enthusiastic when seeing us.
He entertained Jocelyn while taking the menu to let us order the food. Orlando was in charge of the Marketing Department in our company.
He could be seen as my successor. I hired him back then. He followed me for more than one year.
The Marketing Department back then was only responsible for selling things. At that time, we only had five people in the department. Orlando graduated from a famous college.
He was flexible. He was born to major in marketing. He had a real silver tongue. After I got pregnant, he took my position.
Oswald paid quite a lot of attention to him. He was Oswald’s right-hand man. It could be seen that he often came here.
He asked the boss to prepare us a private room when he saw us. He seemed to be more familiar with this place than Oswald. But he called Oswald “boss” all the time. He showed enough respect.
Lelia also seemed to be close to Orlando. They chatted with each other happily during the process.
I had to take care of Jocelyn, so I didn’t ask what dishes they ordered. I went directly into the private room. I knew that Oswald would treat me and Jocelyn in terms of this. Orlando followed in after ordering. It happened that I hadn’t seen him for a long time.
I made a gesture, asking him to sit down and chat with me for a while. I asked him about the situation in the company. Orlando made a perfect introduction. As he talked, he glanced at Oswald sometimes.
I knew well that he was no longer the young boy when I was in the company back then.
People were changeable. It was normal. The boss was Oswald now. In Orlando’s eyes, I was only his formal boss. I was no longer important. He didn’t do anything wrong.
I was still a little disappointed anyway. It looked like Eleanor was right. I was no longer important.
At least, I was no longer important in Prosper Materials. They had shown me enough respect to call me “Mrs. Price”. One day, when I divorced Orlando, they might even pretend that they didn’t do me. Oh, right.
Even Oswald betrayed me. Who could still remember me? Though once upon a time, I drank so much for Prosper Materials that I almost spat blood.
So pathetic. I got gallstones because of that back then. Those things had already become the past. People would only talk about my merits now, especially Oswald.

Then I had to bear all the pain alone. What a cruel world. I made up my mind that I had to prepare everything well for myself. I had to make thorough arrangements for my future. Accidents could happen at any time.
Thinking of this, I felt my heart in pain again. My nose went sore. Would Oswald really be so ruthless to me? I couldn’t believe that. I still had a fantasy about him.
We had experienced so much together. Not to mention the contributions I had made, at least, I worked hard for the company once. I didn’t think he would really be so ruthless.
The waiters began to serve dishes. Orlando was sensible enough. He left. When we were eating, Oswald answered many calls.
But there was one time he looked at me once and went out to answer the call. I was alert again when I saw him like this.
I made up an excuse that I needed to go to thehe bathroom and also left the private room. I saw Oswald talking over the phone in the corridor.
He kept saying “okay”. The scene made me think of the video call he had with me in the corridor of a restaurant days ago. Seeing me come out, he hurriedly said to the person on the other end, “Okay.
There you go. Make sure the quality is good enough. Use the best materials. You can make the call.” I walked past him and went to the bathroom. I was wondering what this call was really about.
It seemed to be about work. Why did he have to answer the call outside? I turned on the tap to wash my hands.
Oswald also followed me over. He explained before I asked anything, “It’s about the materials used in a client’s place.”
“That should be Orlando’s job, right? Why do they call you?” I took a tissue to wipe my hands while indifferently looking at his face in the mirror.
“Oh… It’s an old client. I have to be more careful.” Oswald avoided my question.
“Okay. I need to go to the bathroom. Go back to take care of Jocelyn.” I said this because Jocelyn was alone with Lelia in the private room.
I was afraid that Lelia would take the chance to bully Jocelyn. Oswald pulled me over, kissed me, turned around, and walked toward the private room.
I smiled bitterly and went into the bathroom. Before I went out, I heard footsteps from outside. It seemed that two more people came in…
