Meanwhile, in Springwyn of Anglandur, it took Bailey three days to hide from Tarragon’s spying. She managed to reach the town in Tarragon where Shannon was currently staying.

She went to meet Veikko upon arrival. After knowing the situation from him, Bailey decided to bring Shannon back to Hallsbay secretly.

The most dangerous place is the safest place. Micah will never expect me to bring Shannon back to Hallsbay.

After making up her mind, Bailey instructed Veikko to make arrangements for their return before heading to a farmyard in town.

From afar, she could see a familiar figure working in the vegetable patch.

It was Shannon.

Perhaps only a rural life like this could help Shannon to heal from her inner trauma. I hope that she could stay here forever to enjoy the tranquility so that she wouldn’t have to recall the horrifying memories of her past. However, it’s all wishful thinking. “Yes. I have something to do in Anglandur, so I came to see you. By the way, I’m thinking of bringing you to Hallsbay for a trip for a few days.”

Shannon watered the cabbage seedlings and responded, “It’s good living here. I’m not going anywhere. By the way, could you please ask Veikko and the rest to leave? I feel uncomfortable being watched. I’ve had enough of that in the past. I wish to live freely for the rest of my life instead of being someone’s puppet.”

Bailey leaned against the doorframe and lowered her eyes in hesitation. Then, she uttered, “Okay. I promise. However, you have to live with me in Hallsbay for some time. After that, I’ll find a new place for you to live carefreely there.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I’ve adapted to this place after living here for quite some time. This is my home now,” replied Shannon nonchalantly.

Bailey furrowed her brows.

Not leaving? I can’t let that happen. She has to leave Springwyn. Otherwise, Micah would definitely discover this place within three days.

“Zayron and Susan miss you dearly. They were the ones who invited you to go over to Hallsbay. I’m fine with you rejecting me, but you can’t reject the kids, right?”

Shannon threw the water ladle in her hand into a pail and looked at Bailey.

After moments of silence, she asked softly, “He has discovered my whereabouts, right?”

Hearing that, Bailey kept mum.

She did not know what to say either.

It was a sensitive topic to mention Micah’s name, for the man was a nightmare to Shannon.

Mentioning his name to Shannon was like poking her heart, which was already perforated, with a needle. Hence, Bailey was worried that it would be too much for Shannon to handle.

Taking in Bailey’s silence, Shannon did not press on for questions. Instead, she continued, “If that’s the case, just let it be. I’ve been hiding from him countless times for years, and I’m really tired of it. I will gladly accept my destiny by putting an end to this, even if we have to die together. He will have to pay me back for my crippled arm and perished child, eventually.”

Meanwhile, Bailey’s heart abruptly jolted.

She clearly wants to die together with him. I can’t let this happen. I know that it’s a suffering for Shannon to live this way, but I can’t just watch her die!

“You are my friend. I won’t let you do this to yourself.”

As soon as Bailey finished her sentence, she dashed forward in Shannon’s direction. When the latter sensed something was wrong and was about to retreat, it was too late. Bailey struck the back of Shannon’s neck, knocking her out cold.

Holding the unconscious Shannon in her arms, Bailey could not help but sigh.

The next second, she carried her friend and promptly left the place.

She then met up with Veikko, preparing to board the plane.

Right then, one of Veikko’s subordinates hurried over and informed his boss, “We are now surrounded by Tarragon’s men!”

Veikko instinctively shifted his attention to Bailey, whose expression darkened almost instantly.

Micah is really fast. I have just met with Shannon, and he’s already here. As expected from the leader of Tarragon, the most powerful underground force in the world. I guess only a force like Tarragon could be on equal footing with me.

“Veikko, bring Shannon to the plane first. I’ll go meet Micah.”

Without wasting any time, Veikko took Shannon from Bailey’s arms and turned, heading toward the boarding gate.

Bailey could not help but chuckle.

This brat. I consider him my little brother. How could he not be concerned about my safety at all?

After ensuring that they had boarded the plane, she walked to a sports car next to her and opened the

car door to get in.

Seconds later, she stepped on the accelerator and sped away.

After an approximately ten-minute drive, Bailey halted the car. That location was the first line of defense where her people were stationed.

As soon as she got out of the car, she saw Micah.

He’s really here.

“We meet again, Mr. Neyman. What’s going on? Are you not satisfied with our last fight? Is that why you came all the way to Anglandur for another battle with me?”

Micah narrowed his eyes and frowned at her. He merely replied curtly, “Hand Shannon over to me.”
