Taking her hand, Artemis led her toward the door. “I’m glad you’re not fixating on it.”

Startled, Bailey asked with a frown, “Where are we going?”

“You wanted to see Rhonda, no? Ken has already brought her over. Let’s go and meet her together.”

Bailey’s hand tightened around his.

It was evident that she was trying to keep a leash on her emotions.

Wrapping an arm around her shoulder, Artemis coaxed, “Although Max was taken from your side since birth, it makes no difference since he grew up by my side.”

That simple remark calmed Bailey’s roiling emotions.

In the reception room downstairs, Bailey was greeted by the sight of Rhonda standing right in the center of the room the instant she pushed open the door and stepped in.

The latter appeared exceedingly smug, disdain written all over her face.

Bailey promptly snapped, her eyes gradually turning red-rimmed.

Marching up to Rhonda with great strides, she shot her hand out and grabbed the woman’s collar, roaring, “Why? Why did you steal my child?”

As she spoke, tears slowly welled in her eyes.

I shouldn’t be crying. At the very least, I shouldn’t be doing it in front of her. But I really can’t control my emotions. She’s so cruel that she’s made several attempts on Max’s life. If it weren’t for pure luck, he would’ve long since died at her hands!

“Answer me! Why did you steal my child?”

However, Rhonda started cackling maniacally.

Naturally, I stole your son so I could go to the Luther family and pretend to be his mother, taking your place. Otherwise, I would’ve killed that little b*stard long ago. Look how high and mighty I am right now! Everyone is calling me ‘Mrs. Luther.’ All this is thanks to your son.”

All of a sudden, the sound of a crisp slap pierced the air.

Bailey smacked Rhonda hard across the face.

“This slap is for my granny.”

Slap!

“This is for Max.”

Slap!

“And this is for me. It’s been seven years. In the past seven years, I’ve been mourning the loss of my child every second of every day. You deserve to die, Rhonda. You really ought to pay with your life.”

She placed all her strength into the blows without an ounce of mercy.

Hence, Rhonda’s face became badly swollen after those three slaps. That aside, blood seeped out of the corners of her mouth nonstop.

Still, she remained headstrong, slurring, “Sure enough, a son born of a b*tch is resilient. I tried to poison him time and again, but all my attempts failed. My greatest regret is my inability to have you experience the pain of losing your child. Haha!”

After saying that, she laughed even more uproariously.

What have I got to fear? I’m Artemis’ wife at present, the matriarch of the Luther family! The Luther family would never reveal the truth and humiliate themselves in the entire elite circle!

Artemis, who had been standing at the side, abruptly stepped forward. His hand shot out as he seized her neck. In a chilly voice devoid of warmth, he demanded, “So, you’re admitting to the crimes you committed?”

Rhonda continued chortling unrestrainedly, just like a woman who had gone utterly insane. “All that is of no matter. Most importantly, we’re married. Even if we were to get a divorce, my status as your ex- wife would suffice to sicken you both forever!”
