Scarlett smiled at him mockingly with a hint of hostility on her exquisite face.

I knew he was going to mention the bone marrow the moment he returned. It seems that he’s very determined to save that illegitimate child of his.

Once he has saved that illegitimate child, will he bring both the mother and son back to the Xuereb residence and chase me out after that?

Justin, I won’t let you have what you want.

As long as I’m still alive, Veronique will never be able to become a part of the Xuereb family. I will make sure that bastard will always be known as the illegitimate child.

“We are about to hold our wedding, so there’s no need to be so polite with me. Just speak your mind. Don’t worry about anything.”

After a moment of consideration, Justin said, “The eldest daughter of the Revelle family, Yvonne, has contacted me to ask you to donate your bone marrow to help her young son. She told me that she has spoken to you in the past, but you rejected her. Lettie, can you please help her on my account?”

Scarlett loomed over him and pretended to be in a dilemma. “You are aware of my poor health. If I donate my bone marrow, it will hurt my health. Justin, I’m your future wife. How can you hurt my health for the sake of a stranger?”

She had purposefully emphasized the word “stranger.”

Distracted by his son’s condition, Justin failed to sense that something was amiss with her.

“I know you aren’t in great health, but a child’s life is in peril. Lettie, I will personally perform the surgery and make sure you are unharmed.”

Scarlett chuckled softly and felt a dull pain coming from her chest.

The man she loved wanted to personally remove her bone marrow to save the illegitimate child he had with another woman. I’m sorry. I’m not a saint. There’s no way I can do that.

“Are you going to call off the wedding if I don’t agree to your request?”

Justin was taken aback. “What are you talking about? The whole world knows about our impending wedding. Why are you talking nonsense?”

The smile on Scarlett’s face deepened. “I’m not joking with you. Fine. I will donate my bone marrow but only after the wedding. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not negotiating with you. I’m only worried that I will regret it if I die on the operating table before I can become your wife.”

“Don’t talk rubbish,” Justin told her off. “You are a little weak but taking your bone marrow won’t kill you. In the future, don’t say things like this anymore.”

Scarlett burst out laughing. “Fine, fine. I won’t say such things anymore. So, do you promise?”

Justin went quiet.

There was no way he could say no.

Veronique refused to get pregnant again. Only Scarlett’s bone marrow could save Zephyr right now.

Seeing Justin keeping quiet, Scarlett did not push him either. Instead, she sat next to him with her head down, her eyes filled with raging emotions.

Once he agreed, she would never allow Veronique and her son to live on.

“Sure. Let’s get married as soon as possible. After the wedding is over, you will donate your bone marrow to save the boy.”

When she heard what Justin said, she clenched her fists instinctively.

Inside a VIP room in Century Hotel, Victoria raised her wine glass and gave a toast to her business partners. “All of you have been working with Saunders Group for many years. I know that the economy hasn’t been doing well this year, and everyone’s businesses have been affected. But, if all of you cancel your contracts with Saunders Group, it will cause a huge disruption to our operation. If any of you is unhappy with the profit, there’s still room for discussion. There’s no need for such drastic actions.”

The few bosses exchanged glances and saw fear in each other’s eyes.

They wanted to cooperate with Saunders Group, but if they did so, they would face bankruptcy.

Small and medium enterprises like theirs could not afford to offend LG Corporation.
