I remember that it was indeed Artemis who lay beside me before I lost consciousness. Cadence has no reason to trick me, nor would he possibly do so. As such, the person who bedded me must have been Artemis. There’s no doubt about it! But where is he? Why don’t I see him upon waking? Could it be that he woke up before me and left furtively? Also, didn’t Mom say she’d bring some people over to catch us in bed and have a few wealthy ladies as witnesses? Where is she?

As all those questions lingered in her mind, Rhonda propped her elbows against the bed and sat up.

The instant she lowered her eyes, she glimpsed the bruises littering her body. At once, a feeling of bliss suffused her.

I just knew that he was a virile man, especially at such a time… From the marks on my body, I can tell how powerful he is! Sure enough, Cadence’s drug is effective. No matter how strong Artemis’ willpower was, he ultimately had to submit to me docilely. I’ve finally become his woman! And soon, I’ll give birth to a healthy child for the Luther family, an heir with my blood flowing through his veins!

The room door was pushed open, and Beatrice barged in from outside.

Startled, Rhonda quickly reached out and snagged the blanket at the side, wrapping it around her naked body.

When she had made out the person who came in, she questioned with a frown, “Why did you only come now, Mom?”

As Beatrice panted, she answered intermittently, “Something came up, and I was delayed for half an hour. How did things progress on your side? Where’s Artemis? Why is he not here?”

Glowering at her, Rhonda huffed, “Why do you think? I threw myself at him, and he took me, but you never came with those few wealthy women.”

Immediately, delight showed on Beatrice’s face. “He took you? The two of you really slept together?”

Upon seeing that she didn’t quite believe it, Rhonda yanked the sheets off herself, revealing the bruises on her body.

Then, she crowed triumphantly, “All these bruises were courtesy of him. I’m still in much pain right now, especially down there. Could it be fake?”

Beatrice breathed a sigh of relief. “Great! It’s good that he touched you. By the way, where is he? Why isn’t he in the room?”

Shaking her head, Rhonda carefully cast her mind back to the situation before she fell unconscious. Alas, her mind was blank, and she had no recollection of anything. She could only hear a faint voice repeatedly telling her that Artemis took her.

Therefore… he must have touched me!

She was absolutely certain about that.

“I couldn’t withstand his aggressiveness in the middle of things and passed out. When I awakened, he

had already left.”

When Beatrice heard that, her eyes narrowed a fraction. “Are you sure it was Artemis?”

“Yes.”

“That’s good, then. It’ll do as long as he knows that he touched you. Only then will he not be suspicious when you fall pregnant.”

Having said that, she pondered for a moment and added, “Find an opportunity to take a morning-after pill in front of the matriarch of the Luther family tomorrow. If she asks, say that Artemis bedded you, and you’re only taking the pill out of worry that you’ll fall pregnant.”

Stunned, Rhonda regarded her blankly and inquired in puzzlement, “Mom, if I were to take a morning- after pill, how am I to tell him that I’m pregnant a month later?”

Beatrice glared at her, chiding, “I’m just asking you to put on a show, not to take it for real! Besides, the matriarch of the Luther family will stop you from taking it after learning about the matter. What’s there to fear?”

“Oh…”

No sooner had her words fallen than the ajar door was pushed open once more. A figure darted in from outside at lightning speed.

Beatrice had never seen Cadence before, so she demanded, “Who are you? And why did you barge into someone else’s room?”

A wicked smile bloomed on Cadence’s face. He stretched out a finger and pointed at Rhonda on the bed. Arching an eyebrow, he drawled, “Barge? No, no, I didn’t barge into someone else’s room. I’ve already been in your daughter’s bed, and she has long since belonged to me. In fact, she’s pregnant with my child.”

Beatrice turned around in shock, her gaze alighting on Rhonda. “Who is he, Ronni?”

“Cadence White,” Rhonda answered placidly.

A chilly murderous intent flashed across Beatrice’s eyes.

It was this b*stard who dragged my only daughter into this mess with him. If I ever have the chance in the future, I’ll definitely rip him into pieces!

“Ah, it’s Mr. White. What a pleasure to meet you. Isn’t your task complete? Why did you come back?”

Ignoring her, Cadence strode right to the southwest corner. After feeling around for a while, he frowned and remarked, “The camera I installed here is gone. So, did Artemis touch you?”

Rhonda’s expression instantly darkened. Gritting her teeth, she snarled, “You installed a camera in the room? How dare you do such a thing? Don’t go too far, Cadence!”

Cadence didn’t bother responding to that. Instead, he shifted his gaze to Beatrice beside the bed. Smirking, he asked, “Do you also think I shouldn’t have installed a camera in the room, Mrs. Jefferson?”

Beatrice narrowed her eyes a fraction. After a moment of silent contemplation, she replied with a smile, “My daughter is naive and inexperienced, so she inevitably falls short when considering things. You did the right thing, Mr. White. Only by filming Artemis and Ronni in bed would the man be unable to deny what he did. Now that the camera is gone, it has probably been destroyed by him.”

After saying that, she shifted her gaze back to Rhonda and asserted, “Mr. White did that for your good, Ronni. Thus, you should thank him. Now that the camera is gone, you can only do as I taught you earlier. Don’t rush. Take it easy.”

Cadence likewise turned to Rhonda on the bed. With a frown marring his countenance, he queried, “You are sure it was Artemis who bedded you? Don’t lie to me. Otherwise, a single false move will cause us to lose everything.”

“It was him. It was him, all right! He was still beside me before I passed out! How could it not have been him?” Rhonda roared, raising her voice.

Following that, no one said anything further.

Meanwhile, in the master bedroom in the riverside mansion, Artemis leaned sideways against the couch.

His handsome face was as pale as a sheet, making it all too clear that it was caused by the excessive loss of blood.

Bailey stood at the side, cradling her forehead with exasperation written all over her face.

Right then, she felt all the more resentful of her hand. You could’ve stabbed him anywhere, yet you just had to stab him in his inner thigh, mere centimeters from the most intimate part of him!

At the thought that she had to come face to face with that part of him, her brain started buzzing.

When treating an injury, it’s inevitable that my hand will accidentally come into contact with some inappropriate places. Once I trigger his beastlike nature, I’ll just be making trouble for myself, no?

“How about I send you to the hospital? A doctor is more professional, and you’ll suffer less.”

Lifting his eyes, Artemis shot her a wicked look and sneered, “The globally-renowned doctor, Anonymous, is actually claiming that the doctors at the hospital are more professional. Don’t you find it hypocritical? The door is right behind you, so you may scram if you don’t want to help stem the blood flow. There’s no need to yap here. I’ll simply regard it as having been bitten by a dog. Never mind if I end up becoming a cripple.”

Ugh! What a scoundrel! Who indulged him so much that he’s throwing a tantrum?
