Experiencing the agony of losing one’s child once in a lifetime was enough.

The pain of her eldest baby dying in her belly was already tormenting enough to her. Naturally, she would be in greater pain when it came to Zayron, whom she had raised for seven years.

If anything happened to him, she did not know if she could make it through the ordeal.

“Janice, I’ll agree to anything you ask for. Don’t touch my son!”

At that moment, she had no choice but to act helpless in order to satisfy that woman’s perverted desires. Only by doing so would she not provoke Janice and trigger her to do anything irrational.

As expected, immediately after Bailey revealed her vulnerability, Janice burst out laughing. “Bailey, you didn’t expect yourself to be begging someone one day, right? Fine! I’ll give you a chance to save your son. If you don’t appear in front of me in half an hour, I’ll stab this b*stard to death.”

Bailey calmed down and asked with a trembling voice, “W-Where are you now?”

Janice did not respond and directly ended the call.

Three seconds later, a message was sent over. It contained a detailed address and the message: If you dare to call the police, I promise that your son will die a horrible death.

Call the police? No! No way! I’ll never call the police.

At this critical juncture of life or death, she did not trust anyone but herself.

When Veronique saw Bailey rushing out, she quickly followed.

“Bay, I’ll tag along with you.”

However, Bailey did not stop in her tracks at all. Raising her voice, she stopped Veronique. “Don’t follow me! I’ll go on my own. Contact Susan and see where she is. Protect her well!”

Veronique immediately halted. She’s right! Now that Zayron is in trouble, I must not let anything happen to Susan too. ”Okay, I’ll go to Shelbert Condominium right now. Be careful!”

The moment Bailey dashed out of the laboratory, a bodyguard in black walked toward her.

“Ms. Bailey, you look so anxious. Did something happen?”

Bailey froze in her tracks and stared at him with narrowed eyes. She knew that guy—he was Edmund’s personal bodyguard.

Since he was there, it meant that Edmund was too.

“Where’s your boss?”

Carlo nodded and said, “Mr. Chivers has just returned to the Chivers residence and instructed me to stay guard here. If you need anything, you can just instruct me.”

Edmund went back to the Chivers residence?

Bailey’s heart sank as she asked solemnly, “Did Old Mr. Chivers’ condition worsen?”

Carlo nodded. As if he just remembered something, he then shook his head vigorously. “Old Mr. Chivers’ condition did not worsen. However, Mrs. Luther insisted on letting Dr. White perform a craniotomy on Old Mr. Chivers. When Mr. Chivers received the call, they were already preparing for the operation. Although Mrs. Luther kept trying to stop him, he was still worried and rushed back personally.”

Bailey closed her eyes. She could not afford to be distracted now. No matter what, nothing could be more important than her son’s life.

With Edmund there at the Chivers residence, she trusted that he would not let Felicity do anything rash. The most important thing now was to save Zayron.

Yes, I need to save my son.

“Carlo, I need to deal with something urgent, so I won’t talk to you anymore. You can go back to the Chivers residence first.”

When Carlo heard that, he quickly moved aside and walked her to the parking lot. “Where are you going, Ms. Bailey? I’ll send you there.”

“It’s fine.” Bailey turned around. She bent her knees slightly and got into a running position. “I learned how to parkour for a few years. It’s faster than taking a car.”

The dark figure disappeared down the end of the street rapidly. Watching her, Carlo was stunned. This woman is really all-rounded! Is there anything in this world that she cannot do?

Within just twenty-five minutes, Bailey reached her destination. It was a wareroom inside an abandoned factory, located around ten kilometers into the western suburbs.

She was secretly glad that she had learned how to parkour. Otherwise, if she had to drive around the city center, she might not have reached there in an hour, let alone half an hour.

As Bailey stared at the dozens of thugs surrounding her, all wielding clubs or knives, her heart sank.

She did not expect Janice’s hatred toward her to be so intense that she would hire a bunch of thugs to deal with her. Looks like I’ll have to suffer a bit before I can escape alive.

“Not bad, Bailey! Twenty-six minutes. You arrived before our agreed time. You’ve got some sense.” A shrill female voice came from the entrance of the wareroom, jolting Bailey out of her thoughts.

When she glanced over, she saw Janice standing on the stairs with a club and glaring at her with a vicious look. Bailey could not help but chuckle.

Now that she had fallen into Janice’s hands, she had no choice but to relent. After all, one could not return the favor upon being bitten by a rabid dog, could they?

“I’m already here. Where’s Zayron? Bring me to him.”

Janice smirked coldly. She shot a look at the thugs beside her and strode back to the wareroom, her heels clicking against the floor.

Bailey stood right there and let the two lecherous thugs search her body.

When she felt that their actions were becoming more daring, with their hands reaching toward her butt, she suddenly grabbed their arms and exerted a little force. The crack of bones immediately sounded.

“Ouch! Ouch! That hurts!”

What the f*ck! This woman has learned how to fight before, and she’s clearly quite skilled!

“If you don’t want to die, you better behave well. Otherwise, I’ll only need a second to kill you.”

With that, she flung them aside and rushed up the stairs into the wareroom.

She immediately saw Zayron tied to a wooden chair. There were blood streaks near his collar from an injury on his body, though she did not know where.

Janice was holding a sharp knife in her hands. The blade glinted coldly as she pressed it against Zayron’s cheek.

When Bailey saw that, her eyes widened. With a trembling voice, she said, “J-Janice, let’s speak calmly. Don’t hurt my son.”

With a twisted smile, Janice spat coldly, “Bailey, oh, Bailey! Life is unpredictable, isn’t it? Back then, you paraded in front of me and ruined both my career and relationship. Have you ever thought that this day

would come?”

After speaking, she gently flicked the knife. A bloody gash around three centimeters long appeared on Zayron’s cheek in the next second. “With such a handsome face, I’m sure that he can get thousands of teenage girls to fall in love with him. If I ruin his face, do you think that he can continue living like other ordinary people?”

Bailey gasped sharply. Gritting her teeth, she asked, “If you want to kill my son just to vent your fury, you would’ve killed him a long time ago. You wouldn’t have called me and asked me to come. Tell me! What do you want to do?”

Janice laughed. “You’re right! My target isn’t this brat. I can’t be bothered to paralyze a mere child who hasn’t even reached puberty yet. Bailey, I know that you’re skilled in fighting. Even if everyone here joined forces, they might not be able to defeat you. Thus, the only way to keep you in line would be if I threatened you with your son.”

When Bailey heard that, she heaved a sigh of relief secretly. As long as Janice was not so sick in the mind that she would torture a child, Zayron would be safe.

“If you release him, I’ll let you do whatever you want to me. How’s that?”

“Hah!” Janice scoffed coldly. “Do you think that I’m dumb? If I release him, you’d turn the place upside down. You want me to spare this brat’s life? Sure, I can do that. However, you must tie yourself up first.”
