The words “Mr. Ray” coming from Emily’s mouth made Jacob feel so giddy he raised an eyebrow at Ray like a proud child.

“Fine.” Ray slightly furrowed his eyebrows and quickly hid his sadness as he replied to Emily in a low voice.

Ray understood what Emily had meant but he thought it would be fine after he explained everything to her. ‘Emily might have misunderstood me but I am certain that she does not dislike me. Why else would she help me so much with the matter concerning Dina?’ Ray comforted himself.

Emily took out a pile of papers, all of which were contracts she had signed previously with Ray. Then, she took out a new contract and placed it in front of him.

“Mr. Ray, on behalf of our company, I have signed this contract and I hope that you will sign your name here as well.

After all, it is us, SL Jewelry, who violated the contract. Therefore, you can ask whatever you want as compensation and we will try our best to meet your needs,” said Emily.

Ray threw a glance at the contract and felt as though something had drained the soul from his body.

‘Rescinding the contract?

Why would Emily want to rescind the contract?

I have already put Dina’s scandalous episode behind me. I have nothing to do with Dina anymore. Moreover, if anything, that scandalous news brought me more publicity than I had before. I do not see why SL Jewelry would want to rescind its contract with me now!

Emily thought that since she had returned Ray’s favor twice over, the only person she wanted to devote herself to now was Jacob.

Ray was a good man, or a good boy, to be precise. Emily could sense that Ray had feelings for her just by the way he looked at her, so she decided to turn him down as gently as possible so that he would stop wasting his time on her.

“What was the point of helping me with my problem with Dina if you were just going to rescind our contract anyway?” Ray was starting to lose his temper, but he forced himself to contain his anger because he did not want to hurt Emily.

“I helped you because I owed you a favor and now we are even.” Emily spoke clearly, without hesitation. “And I also got to exact my revenge on Dina! So that was just for me!”

Ever since Emily came to SL Jewelry, Dina had been plotting to frame her, so by helping Ray, she had actually killed two birds with one stone.

“I thought it was up to me to choose how you were going to pay me back for the favor? I never asked you to help me with my problem with Dina!”

The boy had clearly lost his head and his words were devoid of the poise he had displayed just moments ago.

Ray, who never raised his voice like that in pure absolute anger, had just bit Emily’s head off.

“How dare you speak to my wife like that?” Jacob, who had been silent this whole time, decided that it was time to show Ray who was running the show.

However, Emily quickly held Jacob’s hand to tell him that she would deal with Ray on her own.

Disappointed, Jacob had to quench his thirst for a confrontation by stepping aside and drilling through Ray with his fiery eyes.

Suddenly, Ray’s voice broke, indicating his heartache.

However, Emily’s words were just like multiple knives stabbing at Ray’s heart. He clenched his fists tightly and moments later, he picked up the pen on the table and signed his name before quickly standing up.

He stopped by Emily’s side and said in a cold voice, “Emily, I cannot accept the way you paid me back! You still owe me!”

Then, without looking back, Ray stepped out of the restaurant.

Brook, who was frozen in his place the whole time, came back to life and quickly bid farewell to Jacob and Emily before running after Ray.

Emily heaved a sigh of relief. Finally, it was all over, but a sense of pity lingered in her heart as she took the contract from the table and put it in her bag.

“I will promise you anything you want from me, just as long as you do not leave me!”

Jacob’s instincts told him that Emily was going to ask him something in relation to Ray. However, she was the one he cared about the most, so he decided to respect her wishes.

“Please promise me that you will not retaliate against Ray or do anything to harm his career.”

In spite of everything that had happened, Ray had helped Emily when she had needed it. Since they no longer owed each other anything, Emily did not want Jacob to harm Ray because of her.
“Okay, I promise you. But don’t you think we should order some food now?”

Jacob granted her wish without hesitation.

“So, what do you want to eat?” Emily asked as she waved her hand at the waiter.

“I do not want eat here. A certain someone left a bad vibe in here!”

Jacob spoke conceitedly just the way Beryl would speak and looked at Emily with an aggrieved expression. Of course, Emily knew that Jacob was actually referring to Ray.

‘Oh my God! Jacob, are you jealous again?’ Emily could not help rolling her eyes.

She reached out to squeeze his cheek and said, “Fine, fine. So, where would you like to go and what would you like to eat, my darling?”

“You.” Leaning towards Emily, Jacob whispered and then gently bit her ear.

“Jacob! We are in a restaurant!”

Emily lowered her head to cover her blushing face as she scolded Jacob in a low voice.

Jacob, however, could not keep his hands to himself any longer so he quickly grabbed Emily and stepped out of the restaurant with her.

“Jacob! Where on earth are you taking me?”

Emily buried her face in Jacob’s chest out of embarrassment and complained in a low voice.

“I am taking you home.”
