SPOILED GIRL - Season 9 Episode 83
Jacob had said that those letters seemed to have been written by a woman. Thus, Emily suspected that the threatening postcard had been sent by Nora.
After she took Rita home, Emily didn’t go back to her company immediately. Instead, she went to Jacob’s company to tell him about her suspicion.
“Madam, Mr. Gu is in a meeting. Shall I go to inform him now?” Seeing that Emily was here, Sam quickly came forward to assist her. Yet in his mind, he knew that the meeting might have to stop.
If Jacob knew that Emily was here, he would dismiss any meeting for her. Sam had no doubt about this as Jacob always put Emily first.
“No need to bother him. It’s not urgent. I’ll stay here and wait for him.”
Emily shook her head and chose to walk to Jacob’s office.
Sitting on the couch, Emily unintentionally fell asleep.
When she woke up, she didn’t know how long she had been asleep.
Then, she seemed to think of something. She yelled and bounced upright to sit on the couch before looking around, bewildered.
When Emily saw Jacob working intently at his desk, she let out a sigh and felt quite relieved.
Realizing that she was awake, Jacob put aside what he was doing and walked to Emily with a smile. “You’re up? That’s quite a long nap, you sleepy cat.” He leaned over and kissed her brow tenderly.
“How long was I sleeping? And when did you come back?” Emily asked sleepily. Feeling heavy in her head because of the lengthy sleep, Emily rubbed her temple and lay down again.
She had been working overtime recently due to the new project at her company. What’s more, she had gone to the mall with Rita for nearly a whole day, which was why she was so tired that she had fallen asleep on the couch.
“Not too long. I’ve only waited for two or three hours.” Jacob smiled tolerantly. He sat beside her, lifted her legs onto his lap, took off her high heels, and massaged her feet.
He knew that Emily had walked around all day with Rita, and that she must be very exhausted.
Feeling a tingling sensation in her legs, Emily let out a sigh of pleasure. “Why didn’t you wake me up when you came back from the meeting?”
“How can I wake you up when you’re having some well-deserved rest, you little fool?” Jacob said dotingly.
“Well, that makes sense. Because if you wake me up while I’m sleeping, I’ll be pissed.” Emily playfully stuck out her tongue.
All of a sudden, she thought of the reason she had come here in the first place, so she said to Jacob, “Honey, do you think that the postcard might have been written by Nora? Rita and I ran into her today at the mall, and she said the exact same words to me.”
Like the threatening postcard, Nora had also told Emily to “wait and see.” The only difference this time was that Rita had been at her side and had witnessed it all. In Emily’s mind, she was sure that Nora was angry at her because she had helped Rita before, so she might do anything to take revenge on her.
“Really? How are you feeling right now? Are you okay? Did she hurt you? That woman is insane.” The first thing that came to Jacob’s mind was Emily’s safety, as he cared most about her.
“How did you know? She did look like she’s out of her mind.” Recalling what Nora had done, Emily looked thoughtful.
“Although Darren and Nora are still married, their marriage exists only in name now that Darren hangs out with that starlet Dina all day. It also seems that Nora knows what is happening between them,” Jacob told Emily what Sam had found out in his investigation.
“Darren, what a playboy he’s turned into!”

Emily’s brows furrowed as she muttered these words. She wouldn’t have expected that Darren would be busy having an affair with another woman while he was still married to Nora.
“Yes. He is not only playing around with relationships though. It also appears that he’s playing some tricks to get himself involved in the Xu Family business,” Jacob said seriously as he agreed with the comment Emily had made on Darren.
What concerned Jacob was that Darren might turn the Xu’s company into a threat for the Gu’s interests as Darren continued to secretly take over their business. Jacob hadn’t worried about this before because he had David, who was his close friend and presided over the Xu business group.
“Why is he doing that? If memory serves me right, he has never before run the Xu company’s business,” Emily asked doubtfully. She couldn’t help but frown at this development.
She didn’t know much about the financial circle, but according to what Rita had told her, she knew that Darren, as the second son of the Xu Family, hadn’t been able to take over the Xu’s business because he was crippled.
And the company had been run by David ever since the old Xu Family patriarch retired. If Darren wanted to step into the affairs of the group, he might not have good intentions.
Sensing that Emily was worried about the same thing, Jacob couldn’t help but curl his lips into a wicked smile. “No wonder we’re husband and wife. I was also worrying about the potential risk. I’ll remind David to be alert when it comes to Darren.”
Since Darren had kidnapped Dylan just for fun, he might indeed be mad enough to turn against his own brother one day. This kind of feud within rich families was nothing new to Jacob, but Emily found it hard to accept. “Rita told me that Darren and David grew up together. It’s sad to see them now become enemies.”
Emily thought of her foster parents whom she had spent much time with. Although they’d done many mean things to her despite her choosing to help them, she was still hurt inside and sad about their estranged relationship.
There were two reports of paternity testing in his house and he had read both of them. Dylan did not know what Nora wanted to achieve by filling his head with this, so he pretended to be clueless and said, “What are you talking about?”
‘This boy is just as gullible as his mother.’ The thought filled Nora’s heart with relief. “I’m talking about the paternity test your father conducted. The report says that you and your father are not related.”
The strange woman’s malicious smirk assured Dylan that she was just trying to drive a wedge between his family.
Little did she know that his parents had already explained everything to him. Dylan feigned anger and pushed Nora away, leading her to think that she had succeeded in poisoning his mind. “Nonsense! My mother said that I am my father’s son. No one knows better than her!”
“Don’t you believe me? How can you ignore the scientific evidence that says you are not David’s son?
lan, calm down and let me finish what I have to say.”
Dylan’s emotional outburst was exactly what Nora had wanted to see. She went on with pleasure, “It’s good that you came to learn about it sooner rather than later!”
“What do you mean?” Dylan was puzzled for a moment.
“Well, your mother is going to have another baby soon, right? Just think about what will happen to your status in the family if she gives birth to another son. Since you already know your real identity, why don’t you fight for your rightful place?” Like a blood-thirsty wolf eyeing it’s helpless prey, Nora felt relieved at the sight of the monster she had created.
If everything went as Nora had planned, she would be getting rid of Rita’s baby with Dylan’s help—like killing two birds with one stone.
Rita would never believe that her own son could kill her unborn child.
However, after Emily carefully compared Nora’s handwriting with the words on the postcard, she realized that Nora wasn’t the one who had written the postcard, because the letters looked totally different.
