SPOILED GIRL - Season 9 Episode 82
“What’s the matter? Is Dylan not happy about it?”
Emily asked carefully, having noticed the change in Dylan’s mood.
At the same time, Rita was also overwhelmed with a growing sense of unease. She attentively observed every change in Dylan’s mood and expressions, afraid that Dylan would think that they no longer loved him because she was having another child.
Lowering his eyes, Dylan shook his head and said, “No. Is Mother having another baby?”
Dylan looked at Rita’s growing baby bump curiously.
Emily and Rita saw no reason to conceal the truth from him, so they nodded their heads. “Yes, Dylan, your mother is having a baby and soon, you will have a little sibling to take care of,” said Emily.
Rita smiled as she took Dylan’s hand and pulled him closer, lovingly stroking his hair to the side.
He was going to have a sibling too, just like Beryl. Dylan had mixed feelings and he didn’t know what to say.
In fact, he didn’t want a baby brother. However, if he were to have a sister as lovely as Beryl, then perhaps he would be willing to make a compromise.
“Mom, can you give birth to a girl as lovely as Beryl?” Dylan looked up at Rita and asked innocently.
Dylan wanted to have a baby sister he could play with and look after.
The fact that Dylan was not threatened by the arrival of another child in the house came as a relief to Rita. His naive words amused her and she gave him a gentle poke in the nose. “Honey, I don’t know whether it’s a girl or a boy yet, but we will know once the baby is born.”
“Okay. Then can I touch the baby?”
Dylan looked at Rita’s belly with amazement as he thought about how he had come from the same place as well.
“Of course you can.” Rita put Dylan’s small hand on her stomach and said, “It’s still too early. The baby hasn’t grown big enough yet.”
Rita was only three months into her pregnancy and the fact that she was able to maintain a slim figure made it difficult to see her baby bump.
“You’ll be able to see it in just a few more months”. Emily patted Dylan’s back from the side.
She was happy to see that Dylan was not opposed to having a sibling. When she was pregnant with Bowen, Emily was also afraid that Beryl would find it difficult to adjust to an additional family member. But luckily, Beryl and Bowen got along very well and over time, they had grown fond of each other.
Since Rita’s life was in no imminent danger, she was discharged from the hospital and asked to rest at home.
After a few weeks of rest, Rita got tired of sitting around at home, so Emily took her out to buy baby supplies.
While they were at the store shopping for clothes for Rita’s baby, they heard someone calling out to them from a distance.
“Hey! It’s really you! I thought I saw a familiar face when I was just walking past.”
Nora showed up in front of Rita and Emily, shopping bags hanging from one hand.
Emily hadn’t seen Nora since that day at the hospital and she wondered what had happened to her.
“Emily, why are you looking at me like that?” asked Nora.
Emily realized that the once companionable Nora had once again been replaced with the strange and somewhat frightening, angry Nora. As she started to feel uncomfortable, Emily frowned and motioned for Rita to walk away.
However, Nora noticed this and stood in front of them to stop them from going anywhere.
“Well, leaving so soon? I haven’t even been able to say a few words yet. Are you leaving because of the guilt?” Nora looked at Rita’s baby bump with contempt.
“Rita, I’ve heard that you’re pregnant again? Is that why you two are shopping here?”

Clutching at Emily’s hand, Rita heaved a sigh and said, “Nora, what do you want from us? You are a mother too. Can’t you at least try to act like an adult?”
As if she had heard some kind of a joke, Nora raised her head and laughed hysterically. “Mother?”
The word “mother” had a nice ring to it! Suddenly, tears slid down Nora’s cheeks like hot wax down a candle. Even her bitter frown transformed itself into a sneer.
“Don’t expect any sympathy from me, Rita!”
Emily felt annoyed by Nora’s arrogance and said, “Who do you think you are? Why would anyone want your sympathy?”
Emily was clearly not interested in sugar-coating her words.
She’d found out from Jacob that even though Nora was still married to Darren, the second son of the Xu Family, their relationship only existed in name. The Xu Family no longer regarded her as one of their own.
“Wow! Rita’s got a smart-mouthed friend to do her bidding.”
Nora gritted her teeth in frustration, angered by Emily’s interference. It made her wish she had a friend like that who would stand up for her from time to time.
“What do you want from us? Just say it.” Rita could not tolerate Nora’s presence any longer.
“Oh, I don’t want anything from you. I just wanted to know whose bastard child you’re pregnant with.”
The word “bastard” coming from Nora’s mouth angered Rita even more. She raised her finger reprovingly and said, “For the sake of your child, please be careful of what you say, I’m sure you don’t want any trouble.”
Once again, Rita mentioned the child in Nora’s belly as if it were still there. Nora tilted her head downward and put her hand over her belly.
“Dear baby, this woman say mummy needs to set a good example for you. What do you think about that?”
Nora murmured to herself. Suddenly, she raised her head, looked sharply at Rita and said, “Did you hear that? My baby said that I don’t need to care about everyone’s opinion. Especially those who are beneath me.”
“You are as crazy as a bat!”
Emily couldn’t refrain from treating Nora’s abnormal behavior with disdain and contempt.
“Rita, let’s just forget about her and get out of here.”
Having considered Nora’s unstable behavior, Emily grabbed Rita’s hand and walked away quickly before Nora could harm Rita.
“Hey, don’t go, I haven’t said anything yet! Emily! Rita! Wait! Don’t leave just yet!”
Nora shouted and tried to run after them but was stopped by one of Emily’s bodyguards hiding in the corner.
As soon as they walked out of the store, Emily slowed down and lowered her head as if she had something on her mind.
“Emily, are you afraid of Nora?” Rita asked, pretending as if nothing had happened.
Emily wasn’t the only one who had noticed Nora’s abnormal behavior just now.
“Me? Afraid of Nora? Rita, you’ve misunderstood me. I was only wondering whether the postcard was sent by Nora or somebody else.”
Emily heard Nora’s voice calling their name as they walked away.
And it was eerily similar to the threatening remarks on the postcard.
