SPOILED GIRL - Season 9 Episode 80
Emily went to check the monitor but failed to discover the expressman’s identity because he was wearing a cap. It was impossible to tell what he looked like from the video.
Therefore, Emily became much more confused.
“Director Emily, what’s wrong? Is there anything wrong with this man?”
Joyce had come to check the video with Emily and could not help asking for the truth upon seeing Emily’s serious expression.
‘Isn’t it a happy thing to receive a gift? Why would Emily be so serious now?’ Joyce thought with concern.
Emily shook her head and said, “Nothing serious. I just came to see who sent the gift to me as I do not know where the box is from, either.”
“Oh, it is so weird. You do not know where it is from while the sender has not connected with you, either. What does he want then?” Joyce tilted her head as it was the first time that she’d met with this kind of dilemma.
‘In general, if someone has affection for Emily, then he should at least leave his name on the gift box. Who is so stupid to forget that?’ Joyce wondered.
“Let’s go ask the receptionist about what the expressman looked like.”
Thinking for a moment, Emily copied the video and saved it onto a flash drive before leaving the monitoring room.
Joyce also followed her. “Director Emily, what was in the gift box? I guess that it must have been a bunch of roses. Maybe 99 roses?”
Joyce made the guess based on the size of the gift box.
“If you take it home, Mr. Jacob would be very jealous. Then he might buy you many more!” she added with a wicked twinkle in her eye. Joyce winked at Emily as she kept babbling while they walked to reception. She really did envy Emily to some extent.
“You think too much. It was nothing but a postcard. What’s more, it does not seem like a letter from someone who likes me.” Emily turned to look at Joyce and answered with a reluctant smile.
Emily now also wished that it had been a bunch of roses so that she did not need to guess who on earth would write the message to her.
‘Jacob said that it was a threat. So someone is warning me, right?’ Thinking of this, Emily started to wonder again, but she did not believe that she had displeased or bullied anyone recently.
Joyce also noticed the difference in Emily as she waved her hand before Emily’s blank eyes. “Director Emily, you are absent-minded again. What’s wrong?”
“Oh, nothing serious. I just thought of something about work.” Soon, Emily made it to the front desk.
After a detailed inquiry, the receptionist gave a vague profile of the expressman but nothing more as she shook her head and apologized that she did not remember anything else.
According to the receptionist’s description, Emily could not even imagine what the man looked like. She only knew that the man was about 5 feet 5 inches in height.
“Humph…” Later, sitting in her office and supporting her face with both hands, Emily took a deep breath.
Her good mood had been all but ruined by that postcard. Now, she could not even concentrate on her work, but worried constantly about who had sent her the gift.
Jacob hurried to get to SL Jewellery after he had finished the call with Emily.
“Emily, did you find out who sent that gift to you?” he asked the moment he opened the door to her office.
He had told Emily to check the video but hadn’t heard back from her after that. Concerned, Jacob had rushed over to check on her himself.
“What are you doing here? Don’t you have a meeting now?” Emily was a little surprised at seeing Jacob.
Casting a glance at her stylish wristwatch, Emily finally realized that it was past noon now and half a day had already passed.

“Now that you know what time it is, you didn’t have lunch, did you? Come, I will take you out to lunch.”
Jacob reached out to pull her up from her seat.
Emily gave her hand to Jacob and meekly let him lead her out of the office for lunch.
“Oh, I have copied the video to this flash drive. Perhaps it will help you to find him.”
Emily took out the storage device from her pocket and gave it to Jacob.
“It is impossible to see his face clearly in the video so I really do not know who he is. The receptionist was not much help either and just said that it was a male stranger,” she added.
“Male stranger?” It seemed that Jacob had heard something which alerted him as his eyebrows knitted quickly and something was brewing in his dark eyes.
“Yeah, she said that the man was not the one who usually delivers parcels to our company, so she did not know him at all.”
Emily tilted her head as she carefully recalled what the receptionist had said, failing to notice the difference in Jacob.
‘It seems then that the man was prepared to be part of the conspiracy, so he disguised himself and avoided the monitors, ‘ Jacob thought bleakly.
“I will look into it carefully. Let’s have lunch first and then let me have a look at the postcard,” he said.
Holding her hand and pulling her into an embrace in his arms, Jacob led Emily to a restaurant.
Despite having Jacob’s company, Emily still could not help thinking about the gift so she was quite absent-minded during lunch.
Jacob noticed her distraction but said nothing more. After lunch, they returned to Emily’s office. Jacob picked up the postcard from Emily’s desk.
“Let’s wait and see. Things will be much more interesting later.”
Jacob read the card and carefully rubbed a finger over the words on the postcard. He examined the neatly scribbled letters. The letters were quite curvy and not very deeply printed into the card.
“It seems that this was written by a woman. I suppose that it might be a gift from one of your girlfriends. Emily, maybe it was from Rita? Could you please call her to check?” Jacob asked.
“Okay, I will call her now.” Though Emily did not know who had sent the gift to her, she also thought it a good idea to call Rita for confirmation.
Emily did not hesitate to call Rita. Her friend was on speed dial on her cell phone. Rita answered the phone immediately, her tone happy at speaking to her friend.
“Emily?”
“Rita, I have a question for you. Did you perhaps send me a gift today?”
“Nope, today is not your birthday or any other anniversary. Why would I send you gifts?” Rita smiled and continued, “Or are you just wanting to receive gifts? If so, I can send you one tomorrow.”
“No, no, of course not! Actually, I received a gift today but there was no signature or address on the gift box. Therefore, I did not know who sent it to me so I called you…”
Emily shook her head at Jacob as she was explaining to Rita over the phone.
“I am sure it is not me. I would definitely tell you in advance if I wanted to send something to you, you know that.” Rita smiled coyly as she replied.
It was true what Rita said. She could never help telling Emily immediately when she wanted to buy her a gift.
Therefore, it was impossible for Rita to give Emily any surprise presents.
Hanging up the phone, Emily looked up at Jacob with puzzlement as if she were asking him, “Who on earth sent me the postcard?”
