Jacob became much more vigilant now knowing that it was Darren who had kidnapped Beryl and Dylan. He was also informed by his network that Darren had met with Dina.

“Why would Darren hang around with that woman?”

Jacob asked in puzzlement when he heard Sam’s report and closed the file in his hand.

‘Darren had never frequented the company of entertainers in the past. Why would he get tangled with Dina this time?’ Jacob asked himself in puzzlement.

“He has not met with Dina before, right?” Jacob slightly squinted his eyes and stood up slowly.

“According to our research, they seem to have met each other at a fashion show in F Country recently,” Sam read the information carefully as he answered.

At the beginning, Emily had wanted to cooperate with Dina and Ray. Therefore, Jacob had told Sam to research all information pertaining to the entertainers and actors of the Sky Entertainment Group Limited. Actually, Dina was revealed to be a relatively hard-working girl who did not have a rich family background.

But for no apparent reason, Dina had suddenly hooked up with Darren. Jacob wondered if she had suddenly become a gold digger.

“Then why did they meet this time?”

Jacob raised his eyebrows and became quite interested in this unexpected development.

‘Darren is highborn and from a wealthy family while Dina is just an entertainer. Why would they meet with each other again and again?’ Jacob wondered.

However, because of the dark light in the room where they had met, Jacob’s subordinates had failed to discover what they had been doing. Sam lowered his head and said, “I’m sorry, Mr. Jacob. I will follow the case closely and discover the truth soon.”

It was not a big deal so Jacob waved his hand and changed to another topic. “What about Nora? How did Darren deal with her?”

Darren and Nora’s wedding had been pretty famous as they had invited lots of celebrities from inside and outside the industry. Everyone knew that Nora was Darren’s wife and now belonged to the Xu Family. Therefore, Jacob really wanted to know how Darren would deal with her now.

“It seemed that Mr. Darren did not want to divorce. But he told Nora to abort the baby and has imprisoned her at home for now,” Sam reported.

“It seems that Darren really loves Nora very much,” Jacob said in a low voice as he became lost in thought.

Nora had dared to betray Darren but Darren still did not choose to divorce her. Jacob really did not know what Darren was thinking.

That night, Jacob conveyed the news about Dina and Darren to Emily at home.

Emily, who was busy designing a draft for a new partner, could not help but stop upon hearing what Jacob said.

“Dina has always coveted Ray, hasn’t she? Why would she hook up with Darren now?” she asked in disbelief.

Though both studios chose to cover up the love affair between Dina and Ray, there were still lots of fans who supported their being together.

What’s more, in Emily’s view, Dina really did love Ray.

“Well, I do not know, either. Sam told me about this. Maybe she covets the rich background of the Xu family. Anyway, it is not so easy to survive in entertainment circles if one does not have enough resources.”

Jacob had taken Emily’s draft and was studying it intently as he spoke. He already regarded Dina as a woman who had only climbed into the upper class by virtue of her beauty and not due to any talent to speak of, in his opinion.

“I do not think so. Dina is beautiful and hard-working. I do not think that she needs to do that.” Emily pouted her pink lips.

‘What’s more, Nora is not easy to deal with. If Dina really wants to hook up with Darren, then Nora would definitely fight for what’s hers!

Dina is obstinate and willful while Nora is good at pretending to be innocent. I really cannot wait to see what will happen between them, ‘ Emily thought gleefully.

Noticing Emily’s cunning smile, Jacob pinched her nose and said, “I never thought that you would support Dina.”

“I’m not supporting her. I’m just supporting those who are as beautiful as me.” Emily stuck out her tongue and winked at Jacob.

Compared with what Dina had thrown at her, Emily disliked Nora much more. She could not help hating what Nora had done to Rita.

Early the next morning, Emily had just arrived at the company with her drafts when Joyce stopped her.

“Director Emily, you are so beautiful today. No wonder someone sent a gift to you.”

Putting the box on the table, Joyce watched Emily closely as she wanted to know what the mysterious gift would turn out to be.

“Come on, you! Ha-ha. What day is it today? Why would someone send me a gift?”

Emily asked in puzzlement as she accepted the box.

“I do not know. There is no name or address on the box. The receptionist said that the expressman only told her that you had to sign for it yourself and then left,” said Joyce while peering closer at the box.

Emily tilted her head and murmured, “Wow, does it have to be so mysterious?”

‘Maybe it’s from Jacob?’ Emily thought, knowing how romantic Jacob could be. Thinking that it was only Jacob who would dare to send her a gift, Emily smiled and took the gift into her office.

However, Emily had just stepped into her office and had not even put down the box when the phone rang. She hurried to put the box down and cast a glance at the name on the screen.

‘Wow… I was just thinking about him.’ Emily smiled after seeing Jacob’s call. “I just wanted to call you to ask you what gift you have sent to me. But you called me first. It is really like the saying that great minds think alike. Ha-ha.”

“Send a gift to you?” Jacob stopped for one second before continuing, “I did not send a gift to you today. I just called to make sure that you had arrived safely at the company.”

Clapping with his fingers on his thigh, Jacob asked, “Who sent a gift to you?” “It’s not you? I thought it was you. There is no name on it.” Knowing now that it was not from Jacob, Emily became a little disappointed.

“Then who else would send a gift to me?” Puzzled, Emily reached out to open the box.

‘How could I know who it is from if you do not even know as the receiver?’ Jacob could not help complaining quietly at the other end of the line. He squinted his eyes and asked, “Is it from Rita?”

“Today is not any special anniversary. At least, I do not think so.” Emily did not agree with Jacob’s guess.

‘What’s more, according to past experience, if Rita had sent me a gift, she would already have called me by now to ask whether I liked it or not, ‘ Emily added in her own thoughts.

At this moment, the box was finally opened but there was only a postcard in it.

“It is a postcard…”

Emily said to Jacob and took out the postcard at the same time.

What surprised Emily much more was that there were only a few words on the card. It read, “Let’s wait and see. Things will be much more interesting later.”

“What does it mean?” Emily read it carefully so that she would not miss anything, though she did not understand the cryptic message at all.

‘Who on earth sent the card to me? What is the purpose? What should I wait for?’ Emily felt a slight panic and confusion at the strange message.

“Is that a threat?”

Hearing what Emily said, Jacob’s brows furrowed as he thought that it might not be a gift from friends.

“Emily, go check the security monitor and find out who sent the gift to you.”
