SPOILED GIRL, VOLUME 2 - Season 11 Episode 64
‘But even if I caught up with Michelle, what would be the point?
Can I comfort her as her friend or as something else?’ Ray wondered.
He looked at Michelle’s receding back with a complex expression settling on his face, and he felt a sense of despair.
At that moment, the cell phone, which was in his pocket, suddenly rang.
Ray quickly concealed his low spirits and answered the phone in a calm and gentle voice. “Hello, Emily!”
He had more or less predicted that Emily would make this call because of Michelle.
It turned out that he had guessed correctly.
“Ray, are you okay? What is your relationship with Michelle? Do you have anything to do with Michelle’s photos?
Did you really show them to everyone?”
Emily asked anxiously. From her worried voice on the phone, Ray knew that she really cared about him. But before he could decide how to answer Emily’s questions, she added, “How are you feeling now? Are there journalists in front of your house? Are you hurt? Do you feel okay?”
Emily bombarded Ray with a lot of questions out of concern. But he didn’t know what to say to her.
Her words filled Ray with a supreme warmth that eased his worries. He relaxed a little and his lips curved upward into a smile. He really enjoyed this feeling of being cared about.
“Take it easy. I’m fine!” Ray responded briefly.
“Then Michelle and you…?” Emily asked tentatively after hearing his reply. His voice made her breathe a heavy sigh of relief.
She had been really worried about Ray and was afraid that he was being used by Michelle. But on the other hand, she knew that it was his private business, so she had also wondered whether it would be appropriate to ask him about it.
“There is nothing between us. When I ran into her that night, she had gotten drunk, and I couldn’t find her cell phone to call someone for her. So, I brought her back to my place.”
Ray made a full disclosure to Emily and sighed with relief at having been able to tell the truth to someone who would listen.
However, he decided against telling Emily about Michelle having been drugged. After all, it wasn’t something worth advertising, so he thought that the fewer people who knew about this, the better.
“Nothing ever happened between us. My maid helped Michelle change her clothes,”
Ray patiently explained to Emily.
Everyone thought that Michelle was a typical bad girl. So, it was normal for Emily to be worried about Ray.
“Okay. That’s good. For the next couple of days, I am sure that journalists are going to come at you constantly. You must take good care of yourself and be careful of who they see you with. As for Michelle… I hope that you know the reason I called you is not because she is Jacob’s girlfriend. I’m really worried about you!”
Emily said to Ray with warm sincerity. She wasn’t lying. Jacob had held a press conference, but Emily didn’t know anything about it yet. She was just worried about Ray. In her eyes, he was not a conniving person and she regarded him as her younger brother. Hence, she felt protective over him.
Emily put her hand on her chest and whispered, “I thought you’d been…
scammed by her…”
Emily didn’t finish speaking as her thoughts ran through all the implications of that had it been true.
She had thought that Ray had become a love rival for Jacob again.
Right now, Michelle was Jacob’s girlfriend. If Ray got involved with her, Emily was afraid that he might be in danger. After all, Jacob was a far cry from what he used to be, and he certainly had little kindness left in him. Jacob had changed a lot. Perhaps he had changed too much.
“You thought what?”
Ray asked in puzzlement, for he only caught a few words. But Emily quickly stopped and shook her head. “Well, nothing! Since you are fine, I’ll hang up now.”
In fact, Emily wanted to continue, but she had suddenly caught a glimpse of an email in her mailbox. Upon seeing the name of the sender, she couldn’t help but shiver. So, she hurriedly ended the call.
“What?”
Ray asked again. Hearing the line cut abruptly, he looked at his phone, feeling quite confused. Emily had never hung up his calls before or been in such a hurry.
He had thought that she would ask him about Jacob’s reaction towards Michelle’s photos in more detail.

She whispered to herself, “What could he mean?”
Seamus had sent the email. It said, “I have some information that I am sure you will be interested in. It concerns Jacob and you. Please, come to meet me.
The address is DH Cafe.”
Emily was a little hesitant and she gently rubbed a finger over the mouse, feeling torn and indecisive.
‘What should I do? Should I go out to meet Seamus?’ Emily wondered.
Last time she had met with Seamus, he had told her who was responsible for setting the devastating fire in the village. After that, she had run into Bill. She was not sure if it was Seamus who had arranged that or not. This time, she was also afraid that something bad would happen to her.
But…
Emily nervously bit her lip as she narrowed her eyes pensively.
She wanted to go there!
Emily didn’t think it was just a trick. Surely, there was no need for him to do that. Therefore, she was almost 100% sure that Seamus must have some useful information concerning Jacob and her. She remembered that last time, he had actually shown her evidence concerning who the real arsonist was.
Moreover, Jacob was also involved. Every time Jacob was involved in something, Emily would lose her wits.
So without much thought, Emily wrote an email, saying, “I will come there!” Then, she sent it to Seamus.
After that, Emily burst into self-mocking laughter as the implications set in, and she helplessly hit her own head.
She just couldn’t help caring about Jacob.
Then, Emily grabbed her bag with a sigh and drove her car to the place Seamus had mentioned.
“I’m surprised that you made it!” Seamus said to Emily as he pushed a cup of coffee across the table towards her. Then, he squinted at her with a meaningful smile on his face.
“Well, what kind of news is it?”
Every time she looked at Seamus, Emily would become nervous. His sharp eyes always made her skin rise up with goosebumps. She didn’t know why. Maybe it was the aftereffect of that big fire.
“You’re the same as always, still driven to get straight to the point.”
Seamus chuckled softly as he shook his head. Then, he handed over some documents and a cell phone to Emily, saying, “Take a look at these. You’ll find them interesting.”
“What are these?”
Emily looked up at Seamus and asked suspiciously as she began flipping through the documents. With a strange smile on his face, Seamus didn’t give her an answer, but gestured for her to check it out for herself.
glanced at him doubtfully and then carried on reading the documents.
After a short while, she felt stunned and her hands began to quiver.
Emily was very surprised by what she read on the papers. She felt that it was hard for her to hold the documents with her nerveless fingers. On one page, it said, “Jacob has already regained his memories.”
It seemed that Seamus had been afraid that Emily wouldn’t see it clearly. So, he had boldly highlighted the words. She felt agony as if the words hurt her eyes, and they swam on the page as her eyes began to water.
“I… I think that’s impossible!” Emily denied with her quivering voice, and she jumped up with a faltering lip, looking at Seamus for some indication as to what his motive was. She didn’t go on reading the document. Instead, she slammed the papers onto the table. Her joints turned pale and blue due to the overexertion. “Be patient! Go on reading, and I am sure the information won’t let you down. I think it’s too early to say that it is impossible before you’ve finished reading everything,”
Seamus replied, still with the same smile on his face. Cold sparks flashed in his dark eyes, which frightened Emily, and hesitantly, she sat down again.
“I… I don’t want to look at it at all!”
Emily refused, gnashing her teeth. Then, she grabbed her bag and made to leave the café.
She quickly headed towards the door, as if she was running away from a truth she couldn’t face.
“Have you ever wondered why he saved you from Bill and then had sex with you? Do you really believe that he just wants to cooperate with Louis?” Seamus asked, just loud enough to reach her ears.
