SPOILED GIRL, VOLUME 2 - Season 11 Episode 39
Darren sneered at his assistant’s hesitation and felt that he was being ridiculous. He began wondering why he had made this spineless person his assistant in the first place. He then turned his eyes away to shake off the strong urge to fire him for incompetence.
“Okay, okay. You’re right, Mr. Xu!” the assistance replied, nodding his head repeatedly.
Beads of sweat had been running down along his cheeks. Not daring to wipe off any of his cold sweat, the assistant backed away with his face still turned toward his boss and disappeared through the door as soon as he could.
He heaved a deep sigh of relief as he walked away, secretly exclaiming that it was really hard to do such a job. However, he was well aware in his heart that it was impossible for him to quit. He had been working here for such a long a time and had become deeply involved in Darren’s business. Darren would never allow him to leave. And besides, he earned a high salary, which made the days here much easier to bear.
But, everything had its own limit. He would leave this crazy place if Darren pushed him too far one day.
The assistant had barely headed back to his desk when he spotted Dina coming from the other way in a hurry. He lowered his head subserviently and looked at the ground, pretending that he hadn’t seen her.
The relationship between his boss and this woman was not something that one could explain clearly or make other people understand. The less trouble the better, and with that idea, the assistant passed by Dina with his eyes still fixed on the ground.
On the other hand, Dina was more than content with the assistant’s frightened reaction. She stroked her bangs and curled her lips into a slightly vicious smile. She couldn’t fully conceal her delight, even though half of her face was covered by a large pair of sunglasses.
She stopped right in front of Darren’s office. Taking off her sunglasses, she looked herself up and down before pushing the door open without knocking.
“What a surprise! Is there anything I can do for you?” Darren asked impatiently the moment he saw her enter.
He had just calmed down and was about to dig into his work. Dina’s unexpected appearance annoyed him. He flicked his pen onto the table with a heavy thud, crossed his fingers, and looked into her eyes with a long face.
Every time Dina came here, she would cause a scene, trying to gain everyone’s attention. Darren used to have a problem with it long ago, but he had hidden his feelings well enough that no one had ever noticed it. This woman was his secret weapon, and he depended on her to get advantages from his partners, who liked pretty women. But immediately, he noticed that there was something different about Dina today. She looked a little upset and walked in with mechanically lightened steps.
Darren narrowed his eyes and leaned back against the back of his chair, wondering what was wrong with her today.
He secretly hoped that it was not something concerning Bill, which was the only purpose he had for Dina now.
“Nothing. Please, don’t worry. Besides, no one saw me coming here,” Dina replied and shrugged her shoulders impatiently.
Instead of heading to the table that Darren was sitting behind, she walked over to the sofa on the other side of the room and sat down, crossing her legs as she took her box of cigarettes out. Taking her time, Dina lit up a menthol cigarette and drew a long puff.
Then she turned to Darren and said, “I came here today to discuss something with you.”
“Go ahead,” Darren replied, racking his brain as to what she could possibly want to say.
He knew Dina like the back of his own hand. She wouldn’t appear so low if she was not preoccupied by something annoying. Or perhaps it was someone annoying?
Darren looked at her quietly and thought it must have something to do with Bill. However, he was also busily formulating other plans.
Dina was nothing but a chess piece for him, a pawn that he could abandon when necessary. Darren preferred someone who was obedient and not someone who did things according to their own will.
He took his pen in his hand and rubbed along the curves of it with the pads of his fingers. It almost seemed like he was caressing a woman’s curves, and a faint smile appeared on the corners of his lips.
“It’s about Bill. He’s been sort of out of hand recently!”
Dina was immersed in her own thoughts, paying no attention to the bemused expression that Darren wore. She leaned back and continued, “I don’t know what’s wrong with him. It seems that he’s become obsessed with Emily.
He’s asked me several times to help him get her number. Isn’t that the biggest joke you’ve ever heard?”

She sneered and shook her top foot desultorily until the red high heel slipped over her toes and dropped down on the floor. Dina was annoyed because she felt that Emily always had the upper hand over her in almost every aspect. Any man would be instantly attracted to Emily, and this vexed Dina, even though the man this time was someone whom she was reluctant to even lay her eyes on.

Dina stretched her toes out as her foot was now bare.
Intentionally or unintentionally, she pointed her delicate toes at Darren with a carelessly inviting smile.
“Emily?” Darren repeated the name with his mouth and it echoed in his head.
He then cracked a malicious smile and understood what was on Dina’s mind at the moment. In the meantime, he came up with an idea. Spotting Dina’s inviting movement, he put on a bright smile and fixed his eyes passionately on her.
Without any hesitation, he stood up, moved to the sofa and took a seat beside her, wrapping his arm around her impatiently.
Raising Dina’s chin with his other hand, he murmured in a low and husky voice, “It seems that Bill isn’t good in bed, right?”
“What? Seriously?” Dina asked in a disbelieving tone.
She was resting in his arms and smelling his familiar scent. Her hands were busy with stripping his clothes off, but stopped abruptly at his words. The image of Bill’s large and greasy head with his disproportionately big ears popped into her mind immediately. The sexual passion which had been burning in her a moment ago was suddenly snuffed out as if a basin of cold water had been poured on her. She let go of Darren and sulkily lay back down on the sofa.
“Did you have to mention him? Oh, you do know I sleep with him because of you, right?” Dina complained with puffy cheeks.
“Sorry! It’s my bad! I shouldn’t have mentioned him,” Darren apologized hurriedly.
He put his hand on her cheek and stroked it lightly to comfort her. Then he tilted her head to him, and kissed her tenderly on her forehead before holding her in his arms and saying, “I promise I won’t make the same mistake later.”
Dina was overwhelmed and collapsed in his arms. But what she didn’t see was Darren’s cold face. His eyes bore no warmth at all, as if he was holding a common granite statue in his arms now.
It was true that people always had two faces. But it was weird that someone could manage such a soft voice, while at the same time putting on an icy face; however, it did happen.
“A promise is a promise, Darren. Be nice to me,” Dina said insistently.
Holding faithfully to the notion that she still occupied a position in Darren’s heart, Dina closed her eyes and reached up to put her rosy lips on Darren’s neck, but was stopped by him.
He drew his head a little away from her and said, “Please, be patient. I need your help. Take care of Bill for me. We have a long way ahead of us yet.”
“Oh, you’re really naughty!” Dina sighed.
Her body was exploding and her clothes had been stripped off, but now Darren had just turned her down. Was there anything more humiliating in this world than this? No wonder Dina was a little pissed off.
“I’m all yours. A good dinner is worthy of the wait,”
Darren teased with a smiling face and shook his head, brushing his nose across her cheek. He was confident that this woman would do whatever he asked.
“Okay, what should I do next?” Dina asked as she took a deep breath.
She gazed at him quietly. Until this moment, she had never noticed that Darren’s pupils were pitch black, which made them look like bottomless pits.
Dina felt like she was being sucked into them and falling down an abyss. Her head went completely blank then. A long moment later, she averted her eyes from his with a panicked expression. Her heart was beating wildly in her chest like a frightened bird, and she had no idea what was wrong with her. Maybe she needed to have a thorough checkup done in hospital later.
But she had to admit that she was becoming more and more obsessed with Darren. On the other hand, Darren had plenty of attributes to attract women. He was well-off and had a face that was hardly inferior to any of the popular male movie stars. Besides, Dina had had enough with Bill’s disgustingly ferocious face over the past few days. Thus, she couldn’t control herself from gluing onto Darren now.
