SPOILED GIRL, VOLUME 2 - Season 10 Episode 11
Rita’s face darkened even before David had finished speaking. David quickly stopped talking upon seeing Rita like this. He did not know whether he should continue, so he just stood there watching her.
“Give me a reason.” Considering the baby, Rita tried her best to control her anger.
The baby growing inside her was her child, but so was Dylan. Rita would never allow Dylan to lose his parents’ company just because they were having another baby. To her, this was an act of rejection which David was contemplating, and she would not tolerate it.
“I just told you, honey. You are pregnant and…”
David spoke softly and then sneaked a peek at Rita only to discover that Rita’s face had become even more gloomy.
Therefore, he lowered his voice little by little until finally, he didn’t dare to continue.
“Tell me the truth!” Rita had run out of patience and her beautiful eyes were staring intently at David’s nervous face.
She would not believe any half-truths or white lies. As David’s wife, Rita was very capable of seeing straight through him.
After the last time that Rita had seen Nora in the house, she had not seen her again. It seemed that Nora had completely disappeared. But Rita could feel that Nora was still living in their house. It was a type of sixth sense she had whenever Nora was involved in her family affairs, a warning cry of impending danger.
There were clues, of course. The living room smelled of the perfume that David had reeked of in the early years when he had still loved Nora.
What was more, there was a set of unique tableware that was obviously not in the style their family preferred, and it did not belong to the maids, either. All of these clues indicated that Nora was still living in this house.
‘But why haven’t I seen her?
Is Nora hiding from me on purpose? Or is David not allowing her to see me?’
More and more questions arose in Rita’s mind, troubling her and haunting her days. She felt an oppressive presence in her own home, and suspicion left her breathless.
‘Now, David is even suggesting that we send Dylan away! The reason could not be so simple. What the hell is going on?
Maybe David wants to protect Nora and he’s afraid that Dylan might hurt her?
Therefore, he chose to use my pregnancy as an excuse to send Dylan away?’ Rita could not help thinking this and her heart felt drained with the tension.
As for the things that had happened the other day, Dylan had already told Rita about each and every detail. Rita did not care how much of Nora’s words were true. But she did not believe for even a second that Nora had come here just to tell her the news about Michelle. Nora was not a philanthropist, and there was always a hidden agenda with her. She did not do things out of the goodness of her heart.
‘What on earth does she want? What other motives could she have?’ Rita pondered the dilemma.
The once rational Rita was now a total mess. She stared closely at David’s face, hoping to find some clue about his intentions.
“I’m afraid that Nora would perhaps hurt Dylan. She is still living in the house now.”
David finally chose to tell the truth.
Since they slept together every night, it had been easy for David to discover Rita’s sudden bouts of insomnia. What was more, he had gradually begun to feel that Rita was becoming estranged from him and had started rejecting him.
Whenever he tried to hold her at night, she would turn her back on him and literally give him the cold shoulder.
David knew that Rita would finally discover Nora’s presence in the house and she would begin to suspect him.
However, there were so many things that had happened recently. David had been afraid that Rita could not deal with all of these, so he had chosen to hide everything from her for a while.
But his confession did not set Rita at ease. Instead, she felt even more anxious and sad. She was devastated that David had been lying to her.
‘So, she was here the whole time, right? David, you told everyone to hide the truth from me, right?’ Rita raged at him in her mind.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Rita’s voice was trembling but cold. Tears blurred her vision as she looked at the man in front of her in desperation. It was as if she was looking at a stranger. She could not believe how he had broken their trust.

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Rita. I just did not want you to be worried!”
David hurriedly wrapped Rita in his arms, hoping to comfort her with his embrace. However, Rita was just like a wounded beast now. She struggled wildly and angrily, finally pushing David away as she turned to leave. The hurt was perhaps irreparable now, and trust, once broken, was not easily mended.
David wanted to chase after her, but thinking of Rita’s tear-streaked face, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, not knowing how to fix this mess.
He realized that if he went after Rita now, he could do nothing to make her feel better, and would perhaps even make matters worse. Stuck at an impasse, he clenched his fists and swore at himself for being a fool.
However, Nora, who was hiding around the corner of the house, smiled slyly as malice dripped from her brown eyes. She was elated as everything was going according to plan.
‘Rita, you are still too young to fight against me!’ Nora rejoiced in her mind.
Ever since her arrival, Nora had seemed to follow all of David’s instructions and had pretended to stay away from Rita. However, she would always purposefully leave behind some subtle signs of her presence. Therefore, Nora did not feel any surprise at today’s quarrel between Rita and David. She was actually surprised that they had not quarreled earlier. Still, Nora was patient and would see her plans through.
“Ariel, I want to have some black chicken soup. Go and make some for me, now!” Nora rubbed her swollen belly and smiled with glee.
She had never thought that this baby would help her so much. She felt so lucky that she had not aborted the baby in the beginning. The child was a blessing! It had allowed her a means to regain contact with David and destroy his relationship with Rita, which had not been previously possible.
Ariel glanced at Nora’s wicked smile and merely nodded her head. Although her mind was not really set to her task, she revealed nothing on her impassive face.
Since coming to David’s house, Ariel had noticed that Nora hadn’t caused any big troubles but had deviously left the barest of trails to catch Rita’s attention. Nora had carefully sown the seeds of discontent.
Thinking of Rita, Ariel’s eyes dimmed. She had met Rita several times now. It seemed that Rita was not as evil as Nora had said, though Rita’s temper was at times a problem. However, Rita did not do anything to hurt others. She treated the servants fairly, and showed great commitment to her son and her husband.
‘But why would Darren, Nora, and even my memories tell me that Rita is an evil woman?’ Ariel could not help wondering.
“What are you thinking about? Go make me the soup, now!”
Seeing that Ariel was being slow in her movements, Nora knitted her eyebrows and scolded her loudly.
Ariel could not figure out the reason why she was doubting everything that she knew, so she told herself that Rita was just an evil woman as she left Nora’s side.
Nora looked disdainfully at Ariel’s back, mentally scolding Darren for sending such a stupid assistant to help her!
Since Nora’s arrival, Ariel had not helped her at all. What was more, every time Nora asked Ariel to do something, Ariel would react very slowly, as if she did not take Nora’s words seriously at all. Nora was intensely frustrated by this as she was used to snapping her fingers and having servants jump to obey.
‘If I were not here alone, I would already have chased her out of here! How can it be possible for her to just ignore me?!’ Nora fumed darkly as she thought of the offending servant.
After a few days, David finally asked Sam to take Dylan away without Rita’s permission. Sadly, he had not spoken to Rita for many days, though they still slept in the same bed. There was a cold war raging between them, and like foreign diplomats who struggled to prevent hostilities, they were unable to express their real feelings.
This state of unhappiness really pleased Nora, as the more trouble that brewed between David and Rita, the more likely it was for Nora to achieve her goals. Like a wraith, she was feeding on their misery!
In Tyrone Mansion.
This was the second day since Dylan had come here but Beryl still refused to see him. Dylan had patiently waited for the whole day, hoping that Beryl would open her door. But Beryl seemed to have made up her mind not to see Dylan, as she even refused to sit in the same car as Dylan to go to school. His young heart was broken by her cold refusal.
When Emily returned home after work, Carter informed her about the situation. Taking Dylan aside, Emily asked with concern, “Dylan, what on earth has happened between you and Beryl?”
Dylan was Rita’s child but now that they had sent him to live with her, Emily felt that she had a responsibility to take good care of Dylan. Besides that, she really liked the little boy, as he was always very polite and clearly cared a lot for Beryl.
“Auntie Emily, it is my fault. I annoyed Beryl, so I will have to wait for her to forgive me.” There was a stark contrast between Dylan’s innocent voice and his serious expression, and it amused Emily so much that she almost burst into laughter.

“Fine. It is your own business. I believe that you can fix it by yourselves. But promise me that you will not force yourself to wait here if you feel tired or uncomfortable, okay?”
Emily looked at Dylan with a smile and could not help feeling admiration for the friendship between him and Beryl. There was such a devotion between them, unlike in some adult relationships where that was sorely lacking.
“Okay. Thank you, Auntie Emily.” Dylan nodded his head obediently and watched Emily leave. Then, he returned to waiting for Beryl by her door.
