When he learned of this, he sighed. Demi is a sharp woman and has learned from her lesson. Now, she’s bribing them with kindness.

When he thought of how Alex had only come to visit him for a short while and returned, he felt frustrated.

“I’m callous now? Alright, I’m done here,” Alex declared. What on earth happened to Lucas? Why is he at odds with me today?

“Alright, that’s enough. Let’s eat; the food is getting cold. We’re all adults, so I’ll decide what to do with my life,” Heather announced.

“Alright then, I guess I’m being a busybody!” Alex set his utensils aside and scowled. “Enjoy your meal. I’m full, so I’ll leave after settling the bill.”

He then left the private room.

Carmen signaled Heather to stop him.

Heather spat, “Leave him! Who cares about him? I’ve had enough with him meddling in my affairs. already! Just who does he think he is?”

Lucas chimed in as well. “That’s right, mom! Alex is just a chauffeur, while sis is a manager at the Jennings Corporation! Who is he to interfere in her affairs? What’s more, he’s obviously stirring up trouble between us! Granny spent twenty-two million to cure me, and the first thing he does is try to sour our relationship! Just what does he think he’s doing?”

“Just shut up and eat.” Carmen grumbled.

Alex was a gold mine to her. The day Alex decides to go back to the Jefferson family and vie for his inheritance, their entire family would be rich.

They had to appease Alex for now.
