“A–A thirty million check!”

“Heather, what’s going on?”

“Is Mr. Wallace that lousy to have ended it so early?”

The Jenningses were flabbergasted, and Demi even cast aside her cane. She hunched over to take the check and inspected it.

As a matter of fact, Brian ignored his son, who was still getting stepped on by Alex, and craned his neck to catch a better glimpse at the check.

Sure enough, it was a thirty million check.

“Huh? This is a check by Four Seas Corporation.”

Demi lifted her head and excitedly looked at Heather. “Heather, tell me, why is this check from Four Seas Corporation?”

Four Seas Corporation was the largest business in Nebula City and one of the top five hundred businesses in the world.

If Heather has gotten a check from Four Seas Corporation, does that mean she’s connected to some big shot in Four Seas Corporation?

The Jenningses were all looking at Heather, waiting for her response. If she was really connected to someone important in Four Seas Corporation, they could bask in her glory.

Even a minor business deal from Four Seas Corporation would ensure the survivability of their business for years to come.

Alex glanced at the Jenningses in disgust as he moved Demi’s cane aside and lifted his foot away from Jacob’s chest.

Jacob and the other two shot Alex a resentful look before scurrying over to find out if the check was real for themselves.

Heather was still angry, however. She gritted out, “This thirty million was borrowed from the new chairman of Four Seas Corporation. He said we have to return it to him in a year, or else he’ll be charging us the interest.”

“Heather, weren’t you supposed to be by Mr. Wallace’s side? Why did the new chairman of Four Seas Corporation give you this instead?” Carmen queried in confusion.

She had been hoping that her daughter would get a divorce from Alex and marry Walt instead. That way, she would get to ride her daughter’s coattails.

The abrupt change in target stupefied her.

After a glance at Alex, Heather sighed and explained, “The Wallace family is gone now, and I don’t know why the new chairman of Four Seas Corporation would lend me money. It’s not as if I’ve seen him before. But the richest man in Nebula City, Mr. Sawyer, was the one who gave me this check. He gave it to me in person, and he told me that their new chairman asked him to do this.”

“That’s enough. I don’t want to talk about this anymore,” Heather cut them off in irritation before returning to her room..

Why must I butter someone up just because they’re rich? Forget it. I’ll stop thinking about this. I’ll visit the man himself a few days later and see how things go. Heather mulled.

She was keen to find out why the chairman of Four Seas Corporation would borrow her thirty million too.

Alex watched as Heather retreated, wondering if she would actually look for him..
